It didn’t post my original comment…anyway, this is what I said. “G, why couldn’t you have done this show a month ago? I was in Lisbon for about 5 days livin’ it up. I was on a structured trip so I couldn’t do any tasting, but I could have used the vino knowledge when ordering. I also spent a few days in the Madiera Islands…it was siiiick. Keep it flowin!”

G, Why couldn’t you have done this show like a month ago. I was in Lisbon 3 weeks ago for about 5 days. It was a structured trip so I couldn’t venture out to taste, but I could have used the knowledge when ordering the vino. I also spent a few days in the Madiera Island…it was siiiick. Keep it flowin!–jc

    Hey Gary,

We need to get your Secret packs delivered to the Liquor control Borg of Ontario. I am sure plenty of folks in Ontario would jump all over them.
If you need a distributor for your secret packs let me know.
We need to find a way to make this available to Canadians.

I like the plaid shirt. A nice change from the striped shirts.

Everyone, please vote before having the secret pack tasting parties. I repeat, vote before drinking. Thanks.

QOTD: I have had plenty of Touriga Nacional, both 100% and blends. I’ve liked about half of them and the other half were meh. Some of the meh wines had a heavy port smell on the nose, makes sense.

QOTD: I’ve had reds from Portugal but don’t know if they were Touriga Nacional. In any case, I’ve enjoyed at least 75-80% of them, including the ones that were slightly port-like(Baby Port). I have the Chryseia, but haven’t tried it yet.

    Kevin K

    QOTD: no, but I will.

  21. October 17, 2008

    Robin C

QOTD: Not much Portuguese wine here. Will try to get some.

Never had a Touriga, but will look for one in my wine shop. Hey, here’s the Super Bowl: Jets vs. Redskins. Even though I love GV, I’ll be shouting all up in his grill piece when Clinton Portis runs through his defense! Yah!

Bring in more Portuguese reds!!!! (ok, calming down). We had two different tastings in the past year that highlighted said reds. In both cases typically chatty groups grew quiet as they started sipping. The wines, especially the 2003 Casal de Loivos stunned people with their quality to price point. To repeat: bring in more Portuguese reds!!

    Wazzup!

I must share that I love Portugal for many reasons. The wine is great, but so is the history and the people.

QOTD: No Touriga Nacional tonight, but what about Baga? I love the Marquês De Marialva, both for the price and the quality.

    Keep up the hard work…

P.S. Picked up the book, finally…inspiring intro by the way…

    Cheers!
