For once I did not enjoy this show. I found the commentaries to be excessively repetitive, almost as if Jim Rome was the guest host. I didn’t find the comments to be very articulate either. The intercom announcements were annoying and intrusive.

In spite of all of that it was good to see two very nice wines featured, especially the Cava.

I am hoping the Pats win by 7 points – but would not be at all surprised to see the Jets come through, since they have been the better team as of late. They certainly had a much easier time with the Rams than the Pats did the week before.

Herman Story is new to me and I like the way you handled it – your approach was clearly spoken, and it feels like I totaly get it. Ditto on the Meandro. I’d probably dig on each of them, despite their dramatic differences.

Portuguese wines are always nice, cause they stay closer to earthiness, and dry elements -never all jammy and fruity like the new world. For this reason , I categorize them as “real” and “honest” – wines that an old guy from Europe would drink. Incidentally, in the romance languages like Italian, French , and Portuguese, wherever there is an accent mark, that’s where the inflection, or emphasis is, hence Meao = May-OWW. We learn from you, as I hope you may learn from us… and in the world of wine, one should hope to continue learning every day.(With a thanks for all you bring to the table!)

Me picking a score is about as accurate as the people who play lottery numbers, hence, a waste of time. Hope the jets do it for ya – esp. on your Special day… cheers.

Threes are GOOD (33—Wow…that was a long time ago!). Melancholy day for me (Nov. 14th). I lost my wonderful Mom one year ago Friday. I am raising a glass (or three) of Casillero del Diablo Carmenere (Concha Y Toro—can’t believe how reasonable it was, especially at our archaeic PA state store) to her as I type. YUM!!

Anyway—GO JETS!! I don’t really care what the score is, just that they beat those cheating Pats!! As an avid Steeler fan, can’t help but detest Bill B. and his crew. UGH!!

Thirty three…Your life is just beginning! My Dad learned to snow board at 65. He now teaches skiing and snowboarding 7 days a week during ski season. He just turned 73 and he is just getting started. for your information : rosé cavas are actually cheeper when bought outside Spain (I normally buy them in Belgium, for 2/3 of the Spanish price)…I guess they are not so popular here (in Spain), but I do admit that some of them are wonderful (try even one of the “common” cava brand names in rosé (also pinot noir) Codorniu, and you will be thrilled!) and not expensive at all!

I’m going to try to get the Portuguese wine somewhere…it sounds as if I will really like it as well.

QOTD: What a great game..except the Jets won. Its ok though, I will be the first to say that I don’t think the Pats are as good as people think they are despite the injuries. It is just starting to catch up.

Nice show once again. I have had the Meandro in other vintages and have always liked it. Excellent wine – I’ll have to try this vintage. The pink cava is also intriguing. And don’t dis on my fellow “early Vayniacs” because many of them love the fruit bombs.

Great show again!

Here in the Netherlands Portugese wines are very much underrated and I get the feeling that’s the same in the US. You don’t taste Portugese wines very often in the thunder show. I was wondering what you think of the Portugese whites, I never saw one passing the show. I quite like the Portugese whites, especially when they are made of local grapes as Arinto, Roupeiro, Antao Vaz, etc.

Hopefully we will see a show dedicated to Portugese wines.
