Any red out of Spokane, WA. I know you dig the Wash wines and Spokane is only 2 hours north of Walla Walla (Arbor crest and Caterina are my faves).

I also want to give you credit for making me “resident wine nerd,” around all my college buddies (I’m only 5 months into being 21).

    Cheers

QOTD: More Spain. You’ve got some good Spain shows, but I’m thinking more focus on certain regions and varietals. Thanks, Gary.

Sounds like an interesting wine. What about the Argentinian Tannat wines? It is all that is available in Oklahoma. I’m looking forward to trying one.
    Thanks for the new perspective.

QOTD: I would love to see a CDR episode, as there are many screaming values out there, especially with some 07’s hitting the shelves. I was floored by the quality of the 06 Kermit Lynch selectionee CDR. 11 bones, totally rocks, gorgeous purity with no oak to get in the way. Awesome stuff. Would love to see what other rockers are out there.
Have a great thanksgiving Gary, I bet you have some good ZIn for the big bird. Enjoy your family.

Cool ep. Good fun, as always.

qotd: Austrian, Fuchs Sauvignon Blanc. Quite good, and a bit offbeat. Reminds me of a nice Sancerre.

How about a show on the miniscule A.O.C. in the ‘Garden of France’ featuring the Romorantin grape of Core Cheverny. Another way to shed light on the obscure as you have done here with Tannat!

    Thanks for your e-mail reply!

I have only had one Tannat and I for get the producer. It is an interesting wine if you like tannins.

I ‘ll look for a search in the future.

    Good show.

Could you do one show for each US State? I’d love to see a show on Maryland wines so I could find something fun that’s local. Shop Local – Buy Local…

Love the show and of course, the QOTD! We need another episode on the other 46! How about the great state of Georgia. In fact, Tiger Mountain Vineyards makes a great Tannat!

Gary, great show. I’m curious to see you give Smith-Madrone wines (Napa) a sniffy-sniff. Smith-Madrone was reviewed positively by Eric Asimov in the New York Times, and my wife and I visited this small winery up in the hills west of the Napa Valley in May. We were given a lovely tour by one of the brothers, Charlie Smith. I think they make a great cab, chard, and riesling, but I would appreciate your opinion.

    I can’t wait to find a tannat!

QOTD: I want more Italian wines, man.

QOTD: You should review some of the wines from Rubicon Estate. I’ve had some really outstanding bottles from Rubicon especially their 2004 Red Zinfandel and their 2002 Rubicon.

First I’ll say I found it easier to click “episode archive” at the bottom of the page and there’s a list of topics rather than just a shot in the dark search. That being said:

QOTD: Here are my top 3:

    1. How about a tasting of wines made from grapes native to America? I found nothing on wines made from the catawba/concord/Niagara grapes.
    2. Fortified wines- there has been some port & sherry, but I could find nothing on marsala or madeira.
    3. I’m really exciting by things going on in Canada- I was just at Niagara on the Lake a few months back, and would love to see more from that region. And Canadian Ice Wines haven’t been done in nearly 500 episodes! Speaking of ice wine, I couldn’t find any episodes featuring German eiswein!

And just a general idea- I know you frequently bring winemakers on the show. What if when you travel, you find a winery to visit & (if they allow it) give us a tour and/or show us a tasting of their wines in their tasting room?

I searched for Florida wines and muscadine grapes and didnt see any shows. Might be an interesting show to expand pallets to this grape viritial.

QOTD – didn’t see anything under Spatburgunder.

Also, Gary, you had promised to do more shows starring cheese (and wine). If Monday is Blind and Friday is Laid Back, what about a Tasty Tuesday featuring food and wine.

QOTD: Rutherglen Tokay.. or a hybrid variety like Chambourcin

Roederer’s Cristal? Haven’t seen it. Probably overrated, but I’d rather not throw down the bones to find out. Great show. I just started watching it. I work at a wine store in Minneapolis and have been spreading the word.

A second answer to the QOTD/AOTW: South Western Australia wines- I was in the Perth/ Fremantle area two or three years ago and they have many great wines (especially whites) for under ten bones! I don’t know if you can get them in the states though.
