I am a newcomer to wines and to The Thunder Show and it is absolutely fantastic. I am addicted to these episodes and have watched tons in the last 5 days. Love the blind tasting. I have not yet purchased any Bordeaux, but I plan to very soon.

Keep up the great work and I will do what I can to spread the Thunder.

    Many thanks for your insights.

Nice show.. need to find some La Clemence…

All that I have bought of 2005 is a case of Chateau La Pointe from Pomerol… got an early 90s vintage on a whim from Trader Joe’s years ago and loved it… My wife and I visited the Chateau on our trip to France in 2001… nice small production, family owned… and like you say.. LOVE THE MERLOT!

Sweet episode. “some Charlotte’s Web action” best line of the episode.

QOTD: The most recent one I got was a $12 Beau Rivage. Poopy.

keep the blind tastings coming – i think a couple double-blind episodes are necessary too.

2005 bordeaux – haven’t bought anything noteworthy yet.

I have not had the privelege of tasting a ton of ‘05 Bordeaux but I did stumble on a very nice gem for only $15.00. Chareau Paradis Casseuil Domaines Barons DE Rothschild (Lafite). What an amazing wine for the price. Dusty fruit on the nose with wet leather, some dark cherry currant maybe. Wet leather and fruit on palate, finish wasn’t great but acceptable. Great wine for under twenty bucks if you love the old world style.

great show…love the bordeaux. QOTD: Chateau Grand Jean 2005 – right bank.
Haven’t opened it yet, might be a dog, we’ll see.
Still waiting for Chateau Gazin to be in stock.

As usual Gary does a very fine job in blind tastings – where his palette is pushed a bit harder than usual. The La Clemence sounds like a winner too, and at $80 is not bad at all for a great wine from there.

QOTD – Chateaux Bahans-Haut-Brion, Nenin & Guiraud. Also a very nice surprise, Ch. Pezac from Entre-Deux-Mers, a good sleeper.

QOTD: I have not yet purchased any of the 2005 Bordeaux – economic climate has forced me to give up on most luxury items like wine.

QOTD-I’ve bought about 12-14 different ones from price range of 20-80.
Especially looking forward to trying Monbousquet (btw if u can get the 2000-do it!!) and Lascombes….

    QOTD: I bought several 2005’s :
    Chateau du Plantier 2005 Bordeaux
    Chateau Cluzan 2005 Bordeaux
    Sichel Sauternes 2005.
    Chateau Le Giron 2005 Bordeaux

I am curious about that ‘poop’ smelling wine, I will look for it locally…

    Great show.

When I visited Wine Library I picked up Chateau Plain Point which I haven’t tried yet. Most of the 2005s are out of my spending limit at this point.

Great show Gary, I’ll save up for the La Clemence. I’ve been enjoying the 2005 Ch. La Grange Clinet, pretty tasty, only about $14, which is about what I like to spend.

Great show, GV. Blind is the way to go; I don’t even scroll down to see the wine list, so that I can be surprised, too. You’re really hitting the price points on the nose. Just a liitle too good maybe ;-) I’ve been waiting for a 2005 Bordeaux show. Was hoping that you’d have the chance to give the little beauties a little more air time before tasting, though.

QOTD: I think I bought a 2005 Bordeaux last year for about $12. I can’t remember, but I think it was pretty good. Too poor to have tried any of the really good ones, I guess :(

QOTD: I bought cases of CH. Puygueraud, Ch. Belgrave, Ch. Caronne Ste Gemme, and Ch. Labat. All under $25 a bottle… the ones I’ve tried are WAY too young to drink now, though.

    Rockin’!
I only really got into Bordelais wines with the ‘05 vintage. In my short voyage through the immense world of Bordeaux, I have found that many are too big to drink right now, and really get the most of as of yet. Most wines would benefit having a couple more years to settle.

QOTD: My 2005 coup de coeur is Château Maucamps, a Cru Bourgeois Supérieure from the Haut-Médoc. Big berries, ripe, but with a strong backbone that will take it through the next 2-3 decades.

To 2005 Bordeaux, raise your glasses!

great show. You know, one of Hercules’ tasks was to shovel animal crap. That’s some good company.

QOTD: Several, but among those I’m most looking forward to trying (many years from now…) is the Clerc Milon, long my favorite “value” Bordeaux property.

QOTD: Chateau Dauzac Margaux 2005 – purchased by the case – sweet sippin’
