OMG — The Poop Machine! Definitely a new t-shirt with the full quote on the back about pumping out the poop and sheep butt!! Would be awesome. Dunno if it would sell well though. :D

Always love the blind tasting shows. I wish I could be at the Fort Mason party. I have my WSET Diploma classes this weekend though. I’ll see if I can do a quick turn around.

Blind tastings are always so much fun…. as life should be!

QOTD: Chateau Tournefeuille (LaLande de Pomerol) and Chateau Lilian Ladouys (Saint-Estephe)… I preferred the righ-bank because I absolutely LOVE merlot and that earthiness

Mixing up a bit of right and left bank.

Great show. I am a lurker no more. I managed to find wine-library tv all by myself, but ahve since recommended it to all of my friends – wine lovers or not. I live in London, and am minutes away from stuffy wine-shops. It is so refreshing to find someone as passionate as you!

I think that everyone should just take a holiday, and drive to a wine region and meet these wonderful wine producers. I still love the first time I went to bordeaux and rocked up at this old house, and this old man showed me and a friend around his vinyard. He didn’t speak a word of english, and we didn’t speak any french, but we understood each other perfectly.

This is what wine is all about. Fact

i cut class to see you on tv, and the segment was WAY to short. you’re prettier on tv, and 3 minutes of gorge gv is not enough.

2005 Chateau Cantemerle – Fifth Growth
It’s cellared for now and will open one in 2010. I have had several of the 2000 vintage. Loved it. Great QPR in my opinion.
    Also:
    Chateau Bellevue Fronsac
    Chateau Malmaison

Thanks for another great episode. I am impressed by your ability to predict the prices of the wines.
qotd: I haven’t bought much, but I did really enjoy the ‘05 Chateau Carbonnieux (sp?) Blanc. I don’t have a lot of experience with white Bordeaux, but this is probably the best I have had. I am saddened by the fact that here in Maine it is being sold for about $55. The suggested retail is actually $35, which is about the price I paid in New Hampshire several months ago. I won’t name names, but I suspect that the Maine distributor who carries it bought it at retail in New Hampshire and is reselling it at their usual markup. jerks.

    Hey Gary,
I LOVE ‘05 Bordeaux. I can’t wait to see how it does in the next 5 years or so. I bought a few Château La Tour de Mons, already had one and it was pretty good. Can’t imagine how better it will get. If you had this wine, I’d love to hear your comments.

Great show. Since I am still new to Bordeaux wines, I tried to select a wine from each major appellation. Thought this would be a great opportunity to get to know the different styles of each appellation and to see what I prefer. Most are $15-30 wines, most are cru bourgeois. I rather bought more bottles instead of buying the top stuff. Here is a selection:

    Chateau Beaumont
    Chateau d’Aurilhac
    Chateau La Gurgue
    Chateau Duhart-Milon
    Chateau Couhins (red and white)
    Chateau Gloria
    Chateau Tailhas
    Chateau La Bourrée
    Chateau Cantin
    Chateau Chasse-Spleen
    Chateau Pey La Tour Réserve
    Chateau Reysson Reserve
    Chateau de Gironville

    GREAT Show!!!

I love the 2005 Bordeaux shows…especially done blind.

QOTD: I went nuts on the futures for ‘05:
    Chat. Nenin
    Chat. Vieux Certain
    Chat. Clos Vielle Eglise
    Chat. Grand Puy Lacoste
    Chat. Gruard Larose
    Chat. Fombrauge
    Chat. Batailley
    and Winemaker’s Collection Episode 1
(and a few other smaller producers that are a bit more accessible now)
(If only the 1er Crus were cheaper)

    “G”

    Fun episode!

QOTD – I am not a big fan of Bordeaux, but I did drink an ‘05 at a friend’s house about a month ago, and I do remember telling my wife that the wine tasted like poop, Not exactly in those terms, but there is something about them that turn me off.

Keep the blinds coming, or maybe do a blend comparison show, like super Tuscans, Meritages, and some of the Spanish blends that I love so much.

I missed you in the Early Show, see if you can add the video to the national appearances column.
