    QOTD: Nelson Mandela. Secondly, Safari-like animals. Unfortunately, disease and starvation. As far as pinotage, I first tried it around 15 years ago and liked the varietal, but abandoned it in search of something bigger and better. South Africa had been mass-producing a glut of poorly-made wine that they couldn’t give away but over the last 5-10 years have started to improve and make some very decent wines. I haven’t bought anything South African unless you stuck one in one of the secret packs over the last year or so.

    QOTD: A country of incredible beauty (the landscape, seeing whales and penguins one day, lions, rhinos and elephants the next), the people (the pride of finally being a full, free and fair democracy), hospitality, food and, especially, the wine (Rustenberg, Meerlust Rubicon (to die for), etc.)
