QOTD 1:Have not had an ice wine.
QOTD 2:About how you’re going to spend your billion now that you aren’t going to buy the Jets :)

You still have a chance to knock the evil Pats out of the playoffs!

QOTD 1: Haven’t tried an ice wine …. yet.
    QOTD 2: Something unusual?

    QOTD: Never had.
QOTD2: No idea, but I am looking forward to it as usual.

QOTD: After a 1-week Washington State and B.C. wine trip, my favorite ice wine was a 2006 Whitetail Vineyard Icewine ($60) from Inniskillin Okanagan Winery in Oliver. My tasting notes were very limited but I wrote down apricot and honey in my journal. I found out after rating the wine that the bottle was voted “Best Dessert Wine In Canada” at the All Canadian Wine Championships in 2007

The Wrestler movie does look awesome.

QOTD #2: I think tomorrow’s show will be about wines that you can have for Christmas.

QOTD1: I can’t remember the name! It was in a little 50ml bottle from Whole Foods that came in a little box for $8.99… it was the first one I ever had & so far the best. I have a bottle of an Ohio ice wine (Raven’s Glenn) that I’ll be sharing at Christmas.

QOTD2: It would be awesome to try to taste as many wines as you can in, say, 20 minutes. Try 20 in 20! Another idea that I haven’t seen (although I doubt you’d do tomorrow) is a ‘making of’ episode, where you have a second camera taping you & Mott tape a show, from the beginning (picking out & opening the wines), the actual taping, Mott linking things up, and getting it on air!

QOTD 1: I recently had an ice wine (pinot gris) from WA that was tastey… saving my Inniskillin for Christmas Dinner

QOTD 2: I’m pretty sure I know what it is… especially if it involves that little hint you dropped on uStream… I certainly hope that’s what it is

Regarding 600 being the end of WLTV… I understand going out on top is the best way to go, but please, oh please… stick around…even if it’s part time. I’m sure most of the Vanyiacs will agree… we haven’t had our fill yet!!

    Keep it up GV

By far the Cabernet Franc from Inniskillin. Great color and flavors.

What do you think of Icewines that are created by picking the grapes, then freezing them then fermenting them? I think Bonny Doon does one this way.

Haut Brion is almost 600, you could taste that.

    Great show as always.

I made the call! Nice to see him give up some love for a WA wine after what happened. (he has admitted in the past to being very emotional on the Monday after a Jets loss. LOL)

Called Kiona and they seemed pretty happy that their phone was ringing off the hook. I’ll be looking to check this wine out in the coming weeks.

QsOTD: We bought an apple cider in Quebec this past summer that we’re thinking about trying soon. Tomorrow’s show will be about Christmas beer.

I think “The Wrestler” would have been way better is Mickey Rooney was in it instead of Mickey Rourke.

Kiona is just down the road. Outstanding winery and great people. They have a gorgeous new tasting room. Their ice wines are award winners every year. Here is a link to an article that came out in today’s local newspaper. http://www.tri-cityherald.com/kennewick_pasco_richland/story/423678.html

Hallgartener Schonbell 1965 Riesling Eiswein – Rheingau
Schloss Schonborn 1962 Hattenheimer Pfaffenburg Riesling Eiswein

but these are remembered from thirty years ago.

I will have to try the 2006 Kiona Ice Wine Yakima Dessert Wine when I drive out west in 2009 to visit my buddy’s “Four Lakes Chelan” winery.

I find most Ice Wine at the $20 price point to be sickly sweet. Need to try the Kiona.
The Jets want to charge WHAT! for seats in the new stadium?

Don’t forget to donate to your local food pantry this holiday season. Remember there are hungry people out there who wish their only problem was opening a bad bottle of wine.

Yeah Jackson Triggs is just way too syrupy. However that always made me wonder if it would work well on pancakes.

QOTD1: This Klaus Knoblauch Eiswein, can’t remember the exact details it finished a very golod night

    QOTD2: 100 pointers!!!

    David Dadekian

QOTD 1: The only ice wine I’ve ever had was a Selaks that I found browsing the WL site. It may not be an authentic ice wine, but it sure was good and rightly priced.

QOTD 2: An all Portugal and PV show? An enough already with the 2005 Bordeaux show? 600 seconds of Gary! Gary! Gary!

  22. December 22, 2008

    Dale Cruse

QOTD2: Tomorrow’s show is going to be about what EVERY episode of the Thunder Show is about: Loving your family, loving your friends, and expanding your palate.

  23. December 22, 2008

    sam

    Awesome! Good show!

Personally, I have not had ice wine. I’m not one for sweet wines. Being from Canada, I’d like to say I have. I should probably seek them out.

600 episodes is something to be quite proud of Gary. I think you can probably handle another 600! I’m not quite sure what kind of surprise you have up your sleeve. Is it an amazing guest such as Robert Parker, or is it a looser Jets player? Whatever it is, I’ll be watching, assured that you will keep bringin’ the thunder!

    Rock on!

  24. December 22, 2008

QOTD: The #600 show should be about the wines you enjoy the most.

  25. December 22, 2008

QOTD: Inniskillin Ice Wine- also from Canada
QOTD pt. 2: The show is going to be about how its your last :(
