Gary, thanks for all you do, and I wish you and your family the best in 2009. Looking forward to watching all your shows this year. Drinking a Jip Jip Shiraz/Cab tonight, only about $13, liking it quite a bit, wondering what you think. Who do you like in the playoffs? I’m a bit lost, since my Redskins are gone and your Jets are gone…do I pull for a Manning superbowl (Colts vs. Giants)? As long as the Ravens don’t win, I’m OK…

    GV,
What are your thoughts about Thomas Jones’ comments about Brett?
I thought he, Brett, looked like he really didn’t care during the game. I’d be surprised if he comes back next year.
Nice show. Thanks for stressing value wines. I can’t do the $25+ wines anymore.

I’ve tried the K-J Grand Reserve Chard, and I have to agree with you. This is exactly the kind of overblown, overpriced, mass-produced wine that I stay away from.

Edmunds St John is at the opposite end of the spectrum. These are real wines, made in small quantities with care and passion. I have to agree that the ‘05 Rocks and Gravel wasn’t their best effort. Haven’t tried the Syrah. The ‘05 Shell & Bones (Roussanne/Viognier) is very good.

Keep bringing us great wines from unsung regions like the Languedoc. This is where your show really brings tremendous value. Of course it’s not as much fun when the wine sells out right after the show airs!

I’ve been watching for about a year but this is my first time commenting.

As someone who graduated from school in 2007 and still considers himself part of the “CKC”, I appreciate the resolution to emphasize value wines for the coming year. I bought a few bottles of the $8 Finca La Linda Tempranillo 2006 that you reviewed in episode 455 as a Christmas gift for my Mom (whose name is Linda) and she loved it. Keep up the good work!

    Happy New Year

will have to get the Languedoc wine. It seems right up my alley. Thanks for a great 2008 of episodes GV. We had our NY without power so had 15 people for Sparklers and snacks with flashlights and coats. Very interesting and actually one of the best tastes of Champagnes in years. All growers except a ringer 1970 Bollinger. Couldn’t really see what it was in the dark but the nose filled the room. Let’s start seeing some fire up for the Thunder Cruise. With the dismal weather we are having here, rain and 35 degrees on top of ice, the Caribbean sounds better and better.

That was a great show Brother…..!!!!!!

I watched it fast in the begining but now I just saw it again and although you looked a little tired and not really all there or very excited like you usually are, you still did a great job. I enjoy watching your shows and trying new wines. Looking forward to 2009 and maybe you can have me on one day. I don’t know why…or what I can offer as a guest, but hell, it would be nice to be on tasting wines with the little guy in fornt of the camera…lol

I hope you had a great time New Years Eve.

    See you soon.

Yo G, NIIIIIIIIIIIICE QPR VINOS!!!! Ya rated a 90 point Robert Parker
Vino (Kendall Jackson Chard) an “81″ ?? Heck, I’ve drank a lot of his
“90 to 95 point” wines that tasted like 60 to 70 point Swills to ME
    PAL……..

    The Languedoc sounds like a Must-Find !!

    Enjoyed this episode.

    Suggestion for future epidosde.

Take a varietal, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, whatever, and take us through the basic level to a better level to a very good level.

I would find this most helpful in my wine growth.

Have a great New Year good sir. I really appreciate your fine efforts.

Gary…thanks for another year of fun and entertainment. I like Kahuna’s idea of a wine/taco pairing…for other fun/challenging pairings…how about Asparagus? I love that you are doing more value wines…but how about finding more of the hidden gems? Those small producers that have yet to be discovered, Cameron in Oregon, or Bindi in Australia?

Massive thanks for reviewing the Obriers de la Peira 06

…And to David to giving us some Old World props below…

Here’s hoping the Languedoc can bring the Rumble to the Vaynerjungle in 09

Happy New Year Gary and Mott!

Great episode- I am still a fan of the 5 wine episodes as it requires me to pay attention longer to keep the spreadsheet updated. I know how sucky it is to not be playing on Wildcard Weekend to have a week off is brutal waiting for the defending SUPER BOWL CHAMPION GIANTS to play!

Anyhow here are a few things I would like to see in the New Year on the BLN show-
A tasting in a strip club
A wine and Taco Bell pairing
    Sasha
    Vinny Testaverde

thanks for the great new year episode–keep the value driven episodes coming! sounds like a great selection of wines–I’ll have to pick up a few.

Good Show. I like the comparison ratings on the wines. there are plenty of good wines to be had in the lower price points.

Happy New Year to all !!!
