    Hey Gary,

Fantastic news and congratulations to you and Lizzie both! QOTD – As one without children I can’t “give you advice” but as an active uncle I can certainly let you know that having plenty of family nearby is a real blessing (as you and your family are so close already I’m certain you know this)!

Will you be setting aside any special wines for your child’s future Birthday celebration. I’ve heard you mention folks who purchase a special wine to unveil at their child’s 21st (or later) Birthday celebration as an “Event Anniversary” bottle.

Congratulations!! Advice from an older parent: Spend time with your kids during the first 6 years!!! Spend lots of time… you will regret it only if you don’t.

Congrats Gary, that is SUCH great news!!! My wife and I are expecting baby #2 in August. It is such an amazing experience, I’m sure you’ll be a great dad. The best advice I can give you is miss as little as possible (I’ve been spoiled working from home but they still grow up so fast!), and be sure to give Lizzy a break whenever you can (you can go a little stir crazy from constant baby care, especially if the baby’s having a hard time, giving eachother breaks will help reduce the stress some). Have fun!!!

QOTD: HAVE FUN! It’s not always easy, sometimes it’s just plain f-ing hard, but it’s always great. You may have to cut back a little bit on Gary, but I don’t think you’d have that problem for family. Have a lot of fun is my advice. Congratulations, Gary.

Congratulations Gary, Lizzy, and Baby Vay (who will surely grow to realize how amazing his/her parents are…that will take awhile, but it will happen)!!

You said it…that your life is about to change dramatically. Today, you can only wonder what that really means. In a few short months, you will know a love so overwhelming that it hurts. You will be stunned at its power over you. That love will consume you for the rest of your life. You’ve participated in the miracle of life and it is REAL! That knowledge is mind-blowing (just ask my 51-year-old brother, who has turned into a blubbering man-child since the birth of his firstborn just two yars ago)!

Advice? Just be you…it is very obvious to Vayniacs like me that you have life’s priorities in proper order. Enjoy the roller coaster and cherish every moment of the ride. Life is about to get way MORE passionate!

Wonderful news! Congratulations to you and your family!

I think you’ll have to do a show on the topic of putting down wines for when baby turns 21 :-) .

Congratulations Gary, to you and your lovely wife! Welcom to the Parent Club, I saw an earlier post that was so true. You’l be a hero beyond belief for 12-13 years or so then condemnation to village idiotdom. I understand they come back to believing in us again around 24-25. god Bless em, I wouldn’t trade for anything. I understand in order to have Good kids, love their Mother. Seems to work for me.
    Cheers

ps Diapers really arent that bad.

QOTD: “i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it.” (FBDO) never more true when talking about your kids. days/years go by in the blink of an eye, cherish each minute.

one other thing, don’t forget about lizzie. it is easy to do sometimes when you have a new baby around…

    congrats!

Huge Deal! Congratulations to you both, it’s an awesome thing.

As far as parenthood goes I reckon it’s like wine – trust yourself to do the right thing.

But as you’re asking (find me a parent who doesn’t like giving advice):

My first piece of advice – listen to everything they say as if it’s important… it is.

The second piece of advice is something I got from a pamphlet in the hospital while taking my newborn for a ‘walk’, I still remember it 5 years on. It said “Fathers often work very hard so that they can provide their children with everything they could possibly want. When all they really want is their father.”

Congrats Gary!!! I don’t have kids so I don’t really have any advice to give, but I wish you and your wife the best of luck!

Mazal Tov! What beautiful news. Such a lucky baby to have parents a wonderful as you Lizzy. Your next book….”Throwing family friendly wine tasting parties”….or, “Teaching your child the difference between tannin and acidity”. Just kidding;)

QOTD: Always trust your instinct. You are your child’s advocate.

BTW, I’m still waiting for that second place prize from over a year ago.

  19. January 14, 2009

    Alan and Gayle

    Congrats!!!!!!!!

QOTD: You can never get “time” back, remember not too work that you miss the best times…..Providing for your family isn’t always about providing money, its also about providing time…

    So YOU, with a little bit from ME, we are changing next generation. (and changing diapers) {now, imagine me throwing a pacifier at the camera}

also, “Chuck” Vaynerchuk is NOT a name you should consider

Gary, Finally finished the episode! As I stated in my email, man I’m so stoked for you…Fatherhood is the bomb. My advice? buy some slippers if you have a boy, cause LEGOS and bare feet is the worst thing ever.

    Congratulations!

  24. January 14, 2009

    TimCub

    Congratulations, Gary!

QOTD: While I don’t have any kids of my own, I am a gay uncle to two wonderful children under the age of 4, and the best piece of advice I can give you is to be nice to your kids, answer their questions the best that you can, and never, ever stifle creativity in them.

  25. January 14, 2009

    Leephus

Congrats! There has been nothing in life that means more than my two daughters, I am sure you will feel the same.

QOTD – For the next 10 – 12 years you will be the most brilliant father, protector, provider, and somewhere along the line you become the village idiot. Just ask your 15yr old. ;)

Best wishes to you and your family!
