The two themes in the comments above seemed to be either “I hate this episode because it was low-brow and idiotic” or “I loved it because it was irreverent and funny.”

The thing is, Gary is always irreverent and funny. If you’re bored of the same old thing after 600 episodes, fine, but trust me, the key to regaining your attention span is not going to be episodes with snarky wine-noobs as co-hosts.

Sarah and “Streeter,” you’re guests on a wine show. If you don’t have anything to say about wine, just shut up. Please. (And Streeter, get a real name.)

Gary, how much do you love this friend of yours to let him push these two snide little pricks on you? There’s nothing worse than these disaffected AV Club / Jon Stewart / Gawker post-college know-it-alls. Stop trying to be funny, guys. Believe it or not, you don’t always have to be “on.”

    Loved it!

    QOTD1: Ur Mom!
QOTD2: Finger, hold my wine in one hand, and give everyone else the FINGER.

    Good Times.
    Thanks GV

Awesome episode GV and the gang form some show I don’t know, lack on TV in the house may be the reason. Although lack of TV means more wine is drunk.

Long time lurker. (From before show 100.) Definitely top 10! It was good to see that they keep you on your toes.

Decent show, not the best. You did a good job of getting novices to try and say what they actually got from the wines, which says a lot.

QotD#1: I supposed it would smell like melted tires and plastic…..
QotD#2: I’d rather have one big finger… because if that one tooth fell out you’d pretty much be screwed!

Great show everyone! Had a blast watching it… laughed a lot so that is always good.

Answer: I think I would prefer to have one big tooth… might be kinda cool actually :) lol

    Cheers

    Funny show!,

Glad you got some people from the CKC on the show and actually looked at some quality low cost wines.
It’s too bad some people could appreciate it for what it was . a funny show about wine. These guys run a website called College Humor, what did they expect ? An erudite discussion on terroir and viniculture?
There’s a place for that, but this episode is a learn something while laughing episode

Well, I was interested in what you thought of the wines. And I was interested to hear what new wine drinkers thought of the wines. But I found these two people (especially the woman) rather dopey and annoying — trying too hard to be funny.

I’d enjoy another episode with novice wine drinkers, but not ones like those.

(this post was toned down after reading the previous ones..)

This is my first time watching this show, and I loved it. I’m just not sure if it was because Sarah and Streeter joined in on the fun or if it’s always this entertaining. Is it usually more “serious”?

Guess there’s only one way to find out…

As you said it Gary, “this is the best episode”! What fun – I was rolling with laughter. Great fun

Chris Runoff – Totally picked up on the bobo. Yes bobo literally means stupid in tagalog. I think Gary should use Bobo more often.

Awesome episode. I would have to go with QOTD 2 – one big tooth, so many things could be impacted by having one finger, and I mean could you imagine the hangnails on that?, and also with a big tooth, you could still use a normal toothbrush, it will just take forever to brush your tooth. With a big finger though, where u gona buy a big fingernail clipper?

    Gary,
I only watched this show because I’m a huge fan of CH. I have not watched any of your other shows, nor do I plan to, but I would like for you to know my first impressions. You obviously know a lot about wine, but you come across as a little hyper with a hint of pushiness and a bit of attention whore on the back end. Shushing them at the end was really the capstone of the episode. I would rate this show about an 86 to 87 on the pecker scale.

Well that was really off the wall… it was entertaining to say the least..

QOTD1: it would smell like wine…
    QOTD2: One big tooth!

    I love PORT.

    More on PORT.

    PORT PORT PORT

This was an interesting show though I would vote for not doing this very often unless you choose culinary students …

Wow, college at a pharmacy school is so much more serious than that. I almost with I could try that college experience!
    QOTD1: Wouldn’t try it…
QOTD2: A big tooth, then get it pulled & get (gasp) dentures.

Great episode and y’all certainly had a great time and enjoyed each others company and that is as it should be.

Good wine and good company, it does not get any better than this.

One of my favorite Portuguese wines is Barco Negro rated #9 by Wine Enthusiast as #9 of their top 100 best buy wines in 2008.

I must admit I did not get the Q’sOTD day down as well as I should have.

I think I would like a bid finger as opposed to a large tooth.

This episode was a lot of fun… reminded me of my college years.

I have to agree that there are some really good Portuguese wines appearing these days. They are still hard to find, so I’m glad you are getting the word out.

QOTD1: I think Gary reviewed that wine a few episodes back.
    QOTD2: Definitely one big tooth.

Although I would not like to see these two again, I did think it was a very funny episode! It was fun to see the kid in Gary come out, enjoy it now, before your life changes forever…

One big tooth, Then there would be no need to floss, And it would smell like tanins.

Another great value from Portugal is the Quinta Do Cabriz 2006 (WL). I’m drinking the 2005 right now – it leans more towards the dark fruit/shiraz profile. It’s not super complex or full bodied, but it’s also not a fakey-fake wine trying to be an Australian Shiraz. It’s just a satisfying old-world leaning wine at a great price with grapes you will only find in Portugal (Touriga Nacional) and the Dao region of Portugal (Alfrocheiro).

“Portugal does something good about every 400 years.” Man, this guy is GOOD – go back another 40-50 years and you’re at the height of the Portuguese Empire of spice trade and exploration.

QOTD #2 was great. Has to be the tooth.
