These episodes coupled with the Nicolas Joly episodes are why this show rules. More of these types of shows would be great. I love the technical aspects of wine making and farming.

As I prepare for a trip to Florida next Tuesday to get away from our frigid weather, why on earth would I want to go to Alaska? As much as I admire Gov. Palin, I will wait for her to visit me.

    Cement?

    Hey,

I felt Gary was being a little to serious with them or kind of making them feel bad . I dont know why that stuck out but thats what it look like maybe gary was in a bad mood that day or something.

    ps.Great guest!!!!

Thanks again gary for having rebecca and peter on your show, they truly are amazing people and are amazing hosts. If you make it out to s.b. wine country hit them up. you want a character, get pete cargasacchi on your show, ive hung out with him a few times and hes a lot of fun. Kind of a mad scientist, fun to tailgate with too!! GO CHARGERS!!

I camped on the way to Whistler at Sqawmish on the beach back in the day, maybe mid 80’s. I’m trying to imagine skidooing the whole inner coast and camping along the way on any beach you like. I’m figuring averaging 200 miles a day, or, are we in a hurry? Maybe I need a boat.

MikeN-in-BC: that trip sounds totally amazing. Being (surf/sail/jetski/powerboat/whatever) on the water on the west coast in summer is about as good as it gets.

Fun Show. I was hoping for more on blending though.

Gary, you should do a show on how the winemaker blends several varietals with each other to create a unique blend.

This is really fascinating to me, it opens up so many more possibilities than varietal wines.

Perhaps thats why I chose to do a red blend for my wine, and I’m so glad I did.

It was interesting to hear more about biodynamic farming. Its a little too “Scientology” for me, but sure is interesting to listen to.

Never been to Alaska, but it is high on my list.

GREAT, GREAT Episodes. I would rather have you put out fewer issues but better ones.

I would love to see an episode on Red and white mixes, such as Shiraz/Viognier. Are their any other red/white “blends”?

All the best to you and Mott,

    John

I love cement. It actually makes you appreciate grass.

Never been to Alaska. Maybe later?!?

MikeN-In-BC . How long did it take to Sea-doo to Alaska. Did you camp?

I think that lipsticks smell very differently from each other. I can’t think what a generic lipstick smell would be.

If I only made wines I love to drink, I guess I’d be making super Tuscans. I don’t want to move to Italy though.

QOTD: Never been to Alaska. I take cement for granted.

Very cool episode! It’s interesting to hear all the complexity of the wine making process. I’m a home brewery and for brewing their is so much during the actual creation of beer and very little before. Interesting to see how different wine is.

    QOTD: Nope

Another great show Gary! I’ve always wondered about the blending process.

Can I make one suggestion for future… I think it’s time for you guys to invest in mics for the show. I know I’m being picky, but the volume fluctuates so much during a show like this where it’s quite for a while and I have the volume way up. Then Gary will get excited and I practically blow my eardrums. I think mics would even the volume out and would be good for quests too! My two cents.

SurfCityJay – would love to meet up with other Vayniacks on April 10th… perhaps we could get Peter & Rebecca to do another blending of sorts.

QOTD: Never been, but would love to go. Cement… I like asphalt better.

    Hey Gary

Awesome episode, Im lovin the Biodynamic education. Excited about the question of the day…

QOTD: YES i have been to Alaska. How i got there? That’s the awesome part. My dad and I rode two Sea-Doos (Jet Skis), all the way up the inside passage. We left from Vancouver BC and ended up in Skagway Alaska. The best trip of my life!! 1000 miles on the water by personal watercraft.

I really enjoyed learning about the blending, but I would have loved to see a second blend or a even a third blend. I’m so curious to see how much difference it would have made if you added 10% of the clone 2A or if you added some of the unoaked 115.

    Qotd: Never.

QOTD: Never been to Alaska but man would I love to go. I’m a huge fan of the outdoors and what better place to experience the outdoors than beautiful Alaska….Alright now I am going to plan a trip.

Gary, Great show or should I say Shows! Back to back entertainment. What wonderful people. Keep up the good work.

qotd: nope I do plan on going someday

I thought these episodes were great. I would have liked to see more blending, though. I wouldn’t have minded a 3-parter if that’s what it would have taken. Thank you all.

Great two episodes… my wife and I had already booked a trip to the Santa Ynez/Santa Rita Hills for our anniversary… we go once a year… after yesterday’s episode, I emailed them for an appointment… gonna be there Friday, April 10th at 11am… Any other Vayniacks in the area at that time…? Would love to hook up with ya!

QOTD: Never been to Alaska… on my Bucket List…

A two-parter about blending with 3 minutes of actual blending??? Please sir, can I have some more? They do have an excellent logo though.

QOTD#1: No, with no plans to go in the near future.
QOTD#2: Where would we be without cement? I’ll tell you, in the sticks my friend, in the sticks.

Peter & Rebecca: Hello and thanks for the sharing! It’s great to meet some nice folk from CA. If both could agree on a really special blend you could name it ‘Petecca’. Now instead of cement, old reclaimed brick is so much nicer in a courtyard or patio, and you don’t even use any cement, just sand. I hope to visit you one day; I live not too far away in Reno, NV. Smell it first. TR

Great show, very nice and interesting guests. I found it very interesting to realize that there were so many clones that can be used in the making of “wine”.

A great 2 part episode, truly enjoyed y’alls passion and philosophy of wine growing and wine making.

QOTD – Have never been to Alaska, may go there some day. Not a big fan of cement. Prefer the land uncovered.
