QOTD: I’ve not been to Alaska – yet.

Cement? I spent a summer working for a construction company that built in-ground pools. I have plenty of experiences with cement, none good.

Nice guests. I think enjoyed the last half more, but then coming off of the Nicolas Joly episodes must be tough. Nice to see more biodynamics, and blending… keep it coming.
    Never been to Alaska.

QOTD 1: I have. Beautiful place.

QOTD 2: I usually don’t love cement except in NYC.

QOTD: No. Can I take the Bridge to Nowhere?
Do you have a DFW/FT WORTH TX distributor?

I’ve been to Alaska a couple of times visiting my sister who raised sled dogs. This was before Gary was born. Both times we took the dirt road to get there. For the last 30 years or so she’s lived about 2 miles from me in the Philly area.

Episode 1 was great, but then in episode 2 they degraded into that mystical, voodoo biodynamics bullsh** that made me turn off the Nicolas Joly episodes. Don’t get me wrong; organic winemaking is great, but when you sink into the sheer stupidity of astrology, homeopathy, etc. that defines biodynamics, you lose me.

QOTD1: Unfortunately, Alaska is the only state I HAVEN’T been too. Hope to remedy that some day.

QOTD2: Cement? Never really thought about it much. It’s been around for a few thousand years. Makes great sidewalks.

QOTD: I visited Alaska in August 1992. It’s incredible.

Blending…I used to blend my cereals at the dorm cafeteria cereal buffet. Ohh and marinades for BBQ. I blend a mean marinade.

What a wonderful 2 parter with Peter and Rebecca. I have been to their Lompoc facility and am a member of their filos wine club. GV, I have had some of all 9 of their bottlings and these folks rock them all. You have to have a little Rose of Syrah in the summer when the temp is way up. Great vino from really great peeps.

    QOTD: Not yet…

Great show. It was really great to see the people behind my favorite PN to date, the Rho.

QOTD1: Never been to the largest state in the Union. Vague Michelle Shocked reference.

QOTD2: Cement is OK, but not around my ankles in deep water.

Was the sound low on both these Parts? Had to tweak my sound and I almost never have to do that.
    QOTD1: Nope.
    QOTD2: Concrete or Cement?

QOTD: Cement? Depends on the context. Alaska: been twice. Love it (in summer). I’m pretty sure I don’t want to be there in the winter. Photos from my trip can be found on my website (I think I put those up there).

We lived in Alaska for 14 years. First near Fairbanks for 3.5 yrs and then in Soldotna for 11.5 years before moving to Oklahoma and starting a vineyard.
We loved Alaska, but unless we were to have very large greenhouses, we couldn’t grow grapes there.

Fantastic, and especially poignant following on the heels of Nik Joly! I will definitely have to visit these cool people and see if they’ll do a blending demo. I’m uber-fascinated with blending, since I can’t grow crap for beans.

This may be my new favorite episode(s).

“Suck it falcon” has to be the best quote ever ever in the history of Wine Lib.

Never been to Alaska and I think concrete is good, solid, gray, rockily OK.
