QOTD: Haven’t been to college in the US…. :(

fun show; gotta feel for those college kids trying to put together a wine. Does AJ make wine at school?

QOTD: Penn State (my first year was JoePa’s first as head coach.)
What, no love for PSU; I know it isn’t the NCAA, but they just rocked the garden winning the NIT.

    Sweet!

QOTD: gotta go with my peeps at Walla Walla CC – rockstars.

I think you should re-evaluate the top two though…

QOTD: University of KENTUCKY! I didn’t go to school there, but I live in KY and the whole state is so full of diehard Kentucky fans, its really hard to even comprehend or explain. I think it might be something you can relate to, being a Jets fanatic. We just got a new basketball coach and I predict the Wildcats will come back in a big way next year. Kentucky’s football program ain’t too shabby either.

QOTD: I honestly don’t have an answer for this one. It would require some thought and I’m about to switch off for the night. Oh well.

Great show! I love how you integrate the daily happenings in life into your show (ie: wine on the plane, in your house, college wines for the final 4) This is why I love your show so much – this is how you show the passion and bring the thunder, and I love it.

QOTD: Rutgers University bc. it’s my alma mater and it is so under rated…seriously!

Spray some anger, that was classic.
    Thanks for the thunder.

Great show Gary… love the blinds! I think you could do them every episode and I’d be happy.

Idea: What about a Double Blind that’s all over the place. Different varietals, price ranges and types (small specialty vineyards and bi grocery store brands). Would love to see that one.

    QOTD: Go Cal… Golden Bears!

GARY, i’ve always loved your wine personification analogies…

I make electronic (house) music- and when im in deep i start thinking of the sounds in the same light; comparing them to kids I know in school (im 18) and like my friends parents fighting might be the kick drum and snare and then i add a hihat and thats the marriage councilor or something…

i’ve been watching since ep 145 and I seriously feel like I could get inside your head and destroy you.

    thanks!!!

Hacksaw reference (nice . . . like vanilla ice). Can a wine taste like vanilla ice? If any wine was going to taste like ice, ice, baby, it would have to have been this episode. Love it when you’re all over the board with the taste descriptions. It inspires me to keep experimenting with my palate. I like to write down the first 5 that come to mind. Sometimes hard for me to get past 3 with confidence but it seems to help me become more discerning and I enjoy the smell / taste exercise. Go Denver Pioneers. Peace.

When I first scrolled down to view the wines from the show to see “Spartan Cellars”, the first thought I had was “Wow! I didn’t know San Jose State made wine.”
I hate that there is another school with the same mascot as my California alma mater… I never root for wine to be bad, but I felt vindicated when the Michigan wine was the worst wine ever.
    SJSU Spartans for life!

    Love blind tastings!!

Could you please tell me where to buy that angry spray? It sounds fun to me.

QOTD: UofM in Mpls/St. Paul. Huge fan of theirs because they engineer hybrids between American and European wine grapes so that they can grow in the harsh climate of MN, but still produce a good wine. Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, La Crescent, and their new one Marquette, can all be made into very good wines. If I was just starting in college again, I would be all about taking ag classes there and working with the viticulture/enology departments. http://www.grapes.umn.edu/wine.html

Fun to watch college wines being evaluated.

I have to choose Southern Illinois University not just because I go there, but because I think it is overshadowed by the University of Illinois.

    Go Salukis!

Great concept. Not surprised about the WA wines. I have a hard time finding any type of fruit or veggie that doesn’t kill from that soil. Try a Walla Walla onion.

QOTD: I went to Southern IL but wouldn’t say it’s my favorite College/Univ. I can’t give an answer because there’s so much variation, ie: sports, location, programs, Playboy models, etc. Final 4 picks: NC/CT. CT.

Also, just out of curiousity and because I really value your opinion on this subject: What are your thoughts on Jay Cutler and would you have liked to see him on the Jets and not the Bears?

  18. April 3, 2009

    Kate the Great

Gary,I don’t have a favorite college but Ohio State is the big one around here. But changing the subject I have a question for you. Do you think you resemble a young, sexy Gargamel from “The Smurfs”? Think about it.

Also the hubby and I are so excited for you and Lizzy, we can’t wait for the appearance of your baby! I will continue to pray for good health and happiness for everyone involved.

Good God in heaven, what do you think these wines are going to taste like? :)

    QOTD: Probably Stanford.

LINE OF THE DAY: “It tastes like you took a sour patch kid and soaked it in water, and then sprayed some anger in there.”

oh, and: “Maybe you like sour patches with an anger twist?”

Great show with the blind college wines. I hope MSU does better this weekend. Hopefully they take their punishment tonight so they can get their one shining moment on Monday.

QOTD – Calvin College – 2 time D-3 basketball champs and also the Calvin/Hope rivalry is “The #1 college basketball rivalry” Check it out on ESPN

I go to Western Washington Univ. But am from Illinois, so I’m a fan of the Illini, and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ohio, so I’m a big OSU fan. Weird, I know.
