Gary, you are doing a kick-ass job as everyone already tells you. We’ve spoken via e-mail briefly and I wanted to ask you how long you think you will continue to do a daily video? And why hasn’t AJ started doing something similar for pleasedress.me? He could easily talk about shirts daily.

Sourpatch in water with a little bit of anger, love it, don’t know what anger tastes like but its hilarious none the less.
Gotta go with the big old University of Texas Long Horns for favorite university, I was born here, my parents and grandparents went there, what can I say, despite not attending UT I bleed burnt orange.

Nice show! Sorry that Sparty couldn’t produce (much like in college football), but at least their bball team is gettin’ it done (Big Ten represent)!!! I was amused by the Oklahoma result; moral of the story… vintage matters!

QOTD: Hmmmm… I’ve always been a big fan of The Ohio State University when it comes to sports (and I’m currently being financially supported by them to attend/pursue grad school), but I don’t think this fine institution necessarily provides the best education for undergraduates. My BIG UPS go to Denison University (a small liberal arts college in Ohio), which brings SERIOUS THUNDER! It’s pricey, but is a great value. Most other NCAC schools are too… (a shout out to Tooch, a Kenyon Grad, whose entry is just a couple of posts above mine)

I really enjoy the blind tastings. I learn a lot from the tips you give about how you ID the wines. I remember when you felt the shape of the bottle to help you make a call. I was like, “well duh!” why didn’t I think of that ?

QOTD. Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute Indiana.
Two of my sons graduated from there, they have so much of my money, they have to be my favorite.

Nice ep! I love the fact that while you are sniffing and tasting the wines while being pretty serious about it, you have that action figure in front of you looking like he’s ready to take another guy down. Then all of a sudden you take the action figure down for whatever reason :)

Great show! I also live in Michigan and try and taste both the local wine and the micro-brew. There is some good stuff coming out of Michigan. In my Humble Opinion it is more in the desert wine area.

I have also lived on the Central Coast of California. Would lie to see some blind tasting between the Central Coast and the Russian River Vally, Napa Areas.

Great idea by questioner: Taste some PX wines.

Take it another step. Cosco wines vs. Wall-Mart wines.

I’m sure there are plenty of others like myself. We buy are wine from big mast sellers. We get lucky a few times a year to go and search for wine direct from the source.

So much wine and so little time to enjoy it all.

QOD…….GO HEELS!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite! Good luck Carolina. BTW anyone see the Guitar Hero with Roy Williams, Coach K, Rick Pitino, and Bobbby Knight? If not, go to youtube and search Guitar Hero coaches. ROFLMAO

Fun show GV. It gives me great pleasure that the MSU wine came in dead last (even though they did make it to the championship, grr). You could totally expand on this episode …something like conference showdown. Get some wines from the Big East, Big Ten, SEC, etc. and do a blind tasting for a conference champ.

QOTD: Cheer cheer for old Notre Dame! Go Irish baby! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

    Keep it real.

    Hi Gary!

This is my first comment, i’ve been a lurker for just over a month so its time to come out of the bushes and expose myself (not literally…obviously) I am really passionate about wine, as well as everything food and drink wise from venison to tea, chips to real ale and everything inbetween. It’s very difficult because I’m struggling to find people to learn off. Watching these shows is so helpful and such an energy filled change to reading books and tasting when i can. I want to make it my career, i’m only 19 so i’m trying to get stuck in. Thanks again Gary

QOTD: Bucknell University. Met my fiancee there, learned a ton from a set of great professors both in Computer Science and Music, and most of all – learned everything I needed to know about myself. It was a great place to explore and mature.

Okay, I’m bummed because I’m a Michigan native and I got my masters at MSU, but it was still pretty hilarious how you laid into that wine. I go tasting in Michigan when I go home and see my folks. There is some decent stuff in the Traverse City area, but overall, it is pretty brutal. Great show, Michigan is a great place no matter what anyone says, but maybe not for Bordeaux blend or whatever that was.

Brutal reviews this episode. Didn’t see a Pennsylvania or North Carolina wine in the mix so only one final four. Picked UNC to win it all because they are almost in my backyard but University of Texas is my alma mater so I root for them.

    Heyyyyyyy GV,
I finally watched the Jake and Amir show. I was avoiding it due to the negative comments then remembered I still have a mind and opinion of my own at 50 years old.
It wasn’t all that bad. Not one of your greats but I didn’t feel I’ve wasted my time.
I think there are some wine snob spies bashing your blog. Really! That’s were those comments came from.
Beware GV, they are out there and slamming your blog.
Come on people… open your mind as well as that bottle.

Gary, I thought your flavor descriptions were great today! even if the wines weren’t that great, you described them in such a way that I could really imagine the taste or smell of the wine, like the duct tape! altho I’m not sure what anger tastes like….

QOTD: University of Delaware and UC Irvine. I went to both and I dont know if I could really pick, I love each one for different reasons.

This is a brilliant show. Love the brutal honesty. I feel sorry for the wineries, but as you said it’s just one (expert who people trust’s) palette. Tough to see Hacksaw Jim Duggan make an appearance on the Thunder Show! One thing that would have been cool would be to show a 10 second (slo-mo?) replay of your comments after the unveilings. Great show. Loved it man. Thanks for

Indiana University. I’d have to agree with Jim in Atlanta. The winery in Bloomington, Indiana (GO Hoosiers!!!), Oliver Winery, is definitely worth trying if you ever do another college wine episode.

Cool Episode! Big props to WA state and the two college wineries on this show from WA.

QOTD: Western Washington University and Univeristy of Nebraska as I attended both. For schools I didn’t attend, Harvard and Notre Dame just because they are Harvard and Notre Dame.

University of Vermont. Although they do not, to my knowledge, have a wine program. UVM! Great show Gary!

QOTD – Indiana University (Bloomington). There is a winery there that you could try some time.

Great show! Haven’t had a college wine before, myself.

My favorite school is Baylor University! Proud they’ve done so well this year in the NIT (guys) and NCAA (girls) tourneys!

Unfortunately for a wine lover, Baylor being Baptist doesn’t have any sort of alcohol related programs, so no chance for wine making classes there.
