Love the Anice flavoured stuff, all of it.
drank a fair bit of it with grilled Octopus in Marseilles.
seems to work with it somehow.

  • Great episode. Now I gotta go buy myself some Absinthe. I have never tasted it.

back to the traditional format, I enjoyed.

I actually almost stopped this after about 2 mins, as I thought it was going to be as boring as that Agave episode, but it turned out to be very good. The guest was a fountain of knowledge.

QOTD – Enough of the exact-answer-type-questions!

I am excited you did a show on absinthe, I have always wondered about it.
QOTD: Iceland? Australia? Thinking of big islands..

Very interesting show. Had it once, straight and hated it. But now that I saw the show would try it again, but this time the dilluted concoction please. The next logical step at educating our palettes would be Vermouth, not that I neither knowledgeable nor fan.

Great show. Kudos for covering some of the more obscure liquors in the world. Can’t make a good Corpse Reviver II without absinthe!

Would love to see you do a show on mixology. There is such a resurgence of interest in this field, a lot of new and interesting producers coming out with new things (St Germain for example) and there are some folks doing some really interesting things ~ e.g. Jamie Boudreau @ http://spiritsandcocktails.wordpress.com/

Do you know about the Tales of the Cocktail conference in NOLA? http://www.talesofthecocktail.com/
Awesome gathering of the folks on the leading edge of molecular mixology.

Great ep! I loved it, especially since references to my 3 homes were made: New Orleans, Switzerland, and Texas! I’m actually not a huge licorice fan, but ironically enough I don’t mind the flavor in my wine and spirits. I’ve had Absinthe once or twice, but I don’t think I was drinking it right because it was just in a shot glass, whoops! But I have had Pastis that was mixed correctly, which is similar, and I loved it. Fantastic summer drink for out by the pool or backyard relaxing with friends and fam.

QOTD: My first guess would have been Chile, but then I looked at the other answers and the answer seems to be Canada, which was actually my second guess. I suppose I’m off to Google now to find out for sure, I don’t like not knowing.

Another interesting show…a question, what is the difference between absinthe and pastis?

Great show. Finally got around to watching it today. Definitely knew very little about this subject matter before watching so I feel far more informed and intrigued enough to give some a try.

Oh come on… the coastline shouldn’t count if it’s frozen 3/4 of the year! Just ask the polar bears, it’s way more like land than water!!!

I will have to keep an eye out for some absinthe in the near future.

I am behind a few shows.

Dude! I had no idea absinthe was legal again. I’ll have to do Hemingway proud one of these days and get some. You know what they say…absinthe makes the heart grow fonder.

Great show Gary. When you get around to the South Korea show can you do some wines that aren’t only available on Base? I am an English teacher at publics schools here and don’t have great access to the base myself.

Loved the Absinthe lesson and I am looking for a bottle at my local beverage shop here in Seoul.

    Keep the thunder rolling!
