GARY! First time commenter, long time watcher (that sounds creepy, but okay).

Loved the malbec episode, I have lots of friends into Malbecs. Usually a big PG fan but because of you, I’m always up for trying new wines.

QOTD: I’m a 23 year old law student…. retirement seems so far away… but if I knew I was never going to retire, I’d probably make sure to take time off between changing jobs to travel, or build travel into my work as much as I could so I can spend time with my friends and family AND see new places.

    BTW I LOVED this QOTD.
I want to go on the next Thundercruise!!!

Tim Ferriss pulls me out of lurker-hood to post a comment. Tim, I watched a talk you gave at some conference (about learning languages and learning how to swim?) and had to say, “hey I’ve seen that guy before!” Loved the chemistry between Gary and Tim, great show guys.

QOTD: If I couldn’t retire I don’t think my life goals would change significantly. My career is going to be software development and I feel like I could do that forever anyways.

    FINALLY!

Figured your two approaches to productivity would cause the perfect storm. Can’t wait to watch the episode.

Hey Gary! I got a couple questions for Tim.

Tim, What are the living expenses like in Buenos Aires? Could I live well on a 20k income?

Thanks! Keep up the good work you guys!

I can hear!!!! I can hear!!!! My comment strike is over. Thanks for some decent sound Mott/GV!

QOTD: Can’t even imagine the boredom of retirement. I have been doing what I enjoy for over 40 years, and hope to continue another 40…or more.

    Oh yeah..I like Malbec

QOTD: I wouldn’t do anything differently. I can’t think as far as retirement. We haven’t sent the kids to college yet. Balancing work and play should be a lifelong habit. ‘carpe day’ tee hee

QOTD: What you should have been doing your whole life anyway, following your passion. If you had been doing that, you wouldn’t want to retire.

Great show. Gots to try me some Malbec. GV, You facial expressions during the draft was classic LMAO!! You looked like you just took a “sniffy sniff” of some corked 2Buck Chuck!!

Huge Sanchez fan from Cali. I’m hopping on the Jets bandwagon! Viva Los Jets!!!

Gotta say Sanchez was a steal for what the Jets packaged to get him. I think it is obvious the Jets mean business with the aggressiveness they have shown the last two off seasons. They may even give my beloved Steelers a run this year.

GV: Tim could be the greatest writer since Hemingway, I don’t know (never read his book), but he doesn’t appear to know squat about wine, other than he loves Malbec. So this episode didn’t really do anything for me, but I think that about most of your shows with guests. And it seems like more and more of your shows are featuring guests. Personally, I don’t like that development, but I assume either you do, your other viewers do, or both.

I saw you on ESPN. Why are you pissed?? Sanchez is going to be fine.
    Cheer up

Nice show on a wonderful varietal which I am drinking more and more these days. A nice recommendation: Alamos Seleccione, not bad but the “C” may be coming to me real soon. 4 hour work week, please. It takes me that long to commute.

QOTD: Looking forward to retirement. Old school, I’ve worked too long and can find many things, i.e. wine, tennis, travel, cooking, piano, languages, did I say wine to keep me busy during the day. I will also read, build a website, get into another business that does not require me to make big bucks but to do what I enjoy. Life is too short, live every day to the fullest is nice but who really does that? No one unless you’re retired.

    Cheers!

P.S. Stick with the depressed “no” on your face when they drafted Sanchez. How many 1st round QBs in the last 10 yrs are starting in the NFL today? Two? Maybe and we all know who they are. This year’s MVP and the SB champion.

I’ve rolled the dice on $10-$15 malbecs several times and found that I’d bought swill. I heard that some of the new Argentine Malbec producers are bad, I don’t know. Anyway, Argentine malbecs are supposed to be for Merlot and Shiraz drinkers looking for adventure on a budget, so let’s hope that’s not the case.

QOTD: Retirement is so far away, I haven’t even thought about it. So as of right now, nothing would change.

  23. April 27, 2009

    Mike D'Ag

QOTD: If I never could retire, I would change my life by (1) sticking with the French company and get insane amounts of vacation time and (2) taking my 401k money and putting it to either vacations now, or increase the frequency of my trips to WL. Your staff is dangerously knowledgeable! :)

    manonthemoon

Sanchez was the best pick for my Phins during the draft ;) , keep on bringing on quarterbacks that are overated it only helps us out.

qotd: find a job I love and work to live like most of the europeans do, cause if I am in it forever I gotta enjoy it
