Great show, I will have to give try out a few more Rose’s.

Gary, you have to try a slice of cucumber in your water… it’s a subtle freshness that does wonders!

Turkey meat pie. Meat pies are as close as I’ll get to dessert. Or maybe I’d use my grandma’s old recipe for dessert: beer.

nice one. way to bring the rose episode just in time for summer.

    QOTD: Some Ice cubes :)

Gary, I think the word you were looking for is “compote”.

Nice job Katie charming the Vayner-nation. Surprised Gary couldn’t shmooze Billy into saying hello.
I’m gonna go find the Donkey and Goat, as I’m generally unenthusiastic about rose, although I’ve had a few that really impressed me. Good what its hot, or when you need something refreshing, like when dancing. I love rose champagne though, which I find almost everyone loves, if they’re not sissys.
I had a great pairing the other night at Ubuntu in Napa:
Lightly roasted wild strawberries next to a bit of lemon verbana custard and granita (I don’t remember what flavor), paired with a rose sparkler from alsace. If that doesn’t make you smile, you need to check into therapy.

    Pretty show!

Gary kills it once again with a hot topic for the summer season.

I believe rosé to be a serious drink for hot weather.

I wouldn’t pair it with dessert however, unless it was a dark chocolate or creamy dessert without too much sugar. Sugar would up the acid.

    Cool!

qotd: Fruit and nuts with honey (pears, strawberries, walnuts)

Thanks for the fun show and guest. I love the title of her cookbook. And
I guess I’ll try a little of that Donkey and Goat during the summer.

One of the greatest guest of all time…really loved this episode. I must also admit that I have been becoming a fan of Rose wines, very interesting wines, they just need to be given a chance.

BTW Donkey and Goat and Quivira are two of the more frenchy style producers of rose .. Quivira is Biodynamic, btw…Donkey and Goat makes super duper Rose.. the 08 rocks!! I love Donkey and Goat Rose. I have already consumed 3 bottles this spring..
I do wish that there were a more mineraly and less fruity rose made here..like the Clos Roche Blanche rose (Pineau d’ Aunis). Some Cali roses are too heavy .. esp the Syrah based ones.. I like more Cinsault in my roses and less bubble gum on the nose..

QOTD; how about some fresh fruit with a good rose.

You know , what do you mean by room temp? Nothing should be tasted at 70 degrees. if you mean 62 degrees i agree.. but do you eat ice cream at room temprature..?

Just caught up on the shows this week. All good except this one. I started to wonder, why have this really dull person on? And then it hit me, its a favor to Billy. I understand. It’s always funny to see a food critic who knows nothing about wine. You think they would take the time to do a little research for their profession. Oh, I forgot, Billy. I understand.

Always looking for a good rose when the weather starts warming up. Thanks for that.

I don’t know that I would make anything with my rose. I just want to enjoy it outside on a nice spring/summer day.
