Katie Lee didn’t annoy me at all, so I apologize for my preconceived (and completely unrevealed until I typed this now) notion. She was a good guest representing someone who admitted not knowing anything, but was interested and understood what she was being taught. Thanks very much, Katie Lee. Much appreciated guest.

QOTD: Not a huge dessert maker, but I would think something with raspberries or blackberries (especially after the notes on that last rose).

Gary—-Drink more water! Seriously. Love fresh Rose in the heat of the summer. Thanks for doing the episode. It’s chic to drink pink!

Good show,Katie was a fun guest. Gary, you gotta drink more water:)!
QOTD: It sounded like she was asking about a recipe with rose actually in it? If so…I’d say an off-dry version made into an aspic gelee and served with fresh fruits.

woh~ didn’t even know she was married to billy joel until i read the comments!

overall, i’d give this episode a major pazzzz (w/ 4 z’s yes). sure she seemed nice and down to earth like lot of people said…but i’m just having a hard time figuring out what she actually added to the show (I mean, this is a wine show first…never mind her being attractive, nice, etc.).

i do agree that roses should be given some major considerations and they are serious wines too…but if you’re saying that with an advocate who uses ice to cool them…

    mehhhh (w/ 4 h’s)

i liked this episode. i wouldn’t say i hate on the pink stuff, but i just don’t drink a whole lot of it. i definitely do enjoy it as a food wine though. and i liked seeing katie on the show, i’ve watched top chef from the beginning and liked her as the host.

qotd: i have no idea. i don’t tend to serve dry wines with sweet desserts, though i guess if i had to pick something i would go with something light and fruity.

I am fairly confident that I have been in love with this woman since she was the host of “Top Chef”.

I find it interesting to read the comments before I view the episode. In this case, they were all over the place from this being a boring guest, a gold digger to this being a super guest, witty, down to earth, etc. I didn’t know what to expect.

After viewing the episode, I’m pleasantly surprised. I agree with one’s post that she fit the rose profile – not too pretentious, casual style, etc. Surprisingly, she is very young for Billy Joel. However, I’m sure he likes what he sees in her – she’s fun, laid back, etc. I didn’t have any problems with the guest as some others seemed to have.

Gary – you do make all your guests feel at ease. That’s great!

QTD – I’d go with a lite fruit type dessert. Maybe a pound cake or angel food topped with sliced berries and flavored whipped cream.

I liked Katie as a guest she was light hearted and in pretentious… Good pairing with the Roses.
QOTD: I think I’d just go with a assortment of fresh berries

I’ve just been looking at some past comments and am a little shocked really; what’s with all this abuse for Katie everyone?? Don’t understand people sometimes. Leave her alone!!

Great show and Katy was a great guest, lovely down to earth girl. You also interviewed well Gary; more shows like this would be a winner. Did I detect a bit of chemistry there Gary??!

Unclassy, uninsifghtful and moronic comments by “my2cents” I see..

QOTD: Can’t see myself drinking a rosé so sweet it would go with a sweet dessert. I’d maybe try a lemon zest pie for the experience. Cheese could be very nice though.

Really enjoyed this episode. As a self proclaimed foodie, I like the shows where you feature guests like Katie.

Answer to Katie’s question of the day would be either strawberry short cake or Ruhbarb pie.

Quivira is very close to me and they have always made very good Zins in my opinion, very good value at around 20 bones. I didn’t even think they did rose. I had better go visit again soon.

Well I can agree with some of the comments previous to mine. Not the best guest but not the worst by far. All and all though BORING. That place sounded like a cave and looked it.

Qotd: Did she mean recipe with rose in it or pair with rose?

Her husband is turning 60 tomorrow and she’s not even 30. Gold digger and cradle robber. Whatever, love follows no logic.

Gary you need to drink water. Look up how being even mildly dehydrated can reduce your brain functions. The body will shut off the cognitive sections of the brain in order to keep the lungs breathing and the heart pumping. If you experience feelings like depression, worrying, isolation, not following the content of a conversation, being dehydrated can cause and/or make them worse. If you ever want to own the Jets…drink more water. 8 glasses a day has been debunked, but you got to consume more than a couple glasses a day for sure. My dad is 75 and he was getting to where he seemed like he was 85 0r 90 for a while until he had to go into the hospital for a week. During that time he was re hydrated and by the end he was back to being the dad I knew and not the frail wreck he’d become. Just some FYI to help you keep it together for the future.

Oprah is a load of shit.

Sorry Kahuna and others but “billy” can have her, oh he already does. All teeth and eyebrows. I’m sorry that was mean.

crazy cameo from billy joel – had to rewind a few times to make sure i saw what i saw…not the best show on wine library tv, particularly since i don’t like rose, but definitely a nice house…and that’s gotta count for something.

Fun guest. Too bad I caught on to Top Chef in Season 2.

QOTD: I have a (rose colored) dessert I call cherry salad that uses canned cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, sweetened condensed milk, & Cool Whip- that may be interesting to add a dash of a rose to… but it’s very sweet, so I don’t know how mose roses would pair with it (since I prefer dry roses vs white zins which I am not a huge fan of).

Pink love, always nice to hear of a decent rose to try without having to shell out 30+ dollars on Tempier.

QOTD: cheese plate, thats what goes with rose

  19. May 8, 2009

    */^_^\*

who is this billy everyone is talking about?

QOTD: if i am drinking rose with dessert, it probably is dessert.

I usually say great show but she was a DUD! Can we see a Rose’ show with someone who is not a poser?? Its not that she knows nothing about wine because those are usually the best guests. It is that she is a fake and is supported by Billy’s cash. Very dull personality as well. I like when you have people like yourself who worked hard to get where they are eg Kevin Rose, Tim Ferris hell even the great one! not this chick with who is all of the sudden a food critic…sorry def not a great episode.

Can we have another Rose’ show plz?

    @ NY Pete: CASH

GV, Your reading my mind .I was just searching Rose’ last evening on the WL.

QoTD: Fresh slices strawberries, with bit of fresh mint topped with a little creme’fresh paired with the donkey and goat rose’. Home run buddy!

I agree that Katie was charming and very sincere in her approach.
I am going to look for the Donkey & Goat rose wine.

As for a dessert item to go with rose, how about a plum and apricot tart with a little almond paste in the crust to add just a bit of sweetness? As long as you go for fruit flavors and not sweetness it should work well with the rose wine.

I agree with BrianAF Katie was pretty hot. I even think Gary liked Katie maybe too much. When she said the thing about the big oyster I about lost it… anybody else catch that or am I just perverted?
