“Price has no impact.” I disagree. An increase in costs through improved production methods will be reflected in the retail cost of a wine. For example, new french cost more than oak chips. Temperature controlled stainless steel tanks cost more than cement tanks. I do agree however that there are many wines that are over priced due to prestige and not production costs, which is often the result of wine critics and press.

i totlly agree that $$ doesnt reflect quality, the same thing is true with food, please give me pork belly for 1.50# over filet mignon anyday of the week, filet= what, soft, tender meat with no substance, zero character, pork belly = gv+br bringing the food and wine world new thunder. thanks, Bill

Fantastic title. Congratulations. I have to try more bandols. I loved the last one I drank.
QOTD: Just got back from a wine tasting (trade tasting) with over 500 bottles. Not as varied or comfortable as the Wine Cruise, but the best trade tasting we’ve been to. We spent 2 1/2 hours trying to make sure we got to all the wines we wanted to and were pretty successful.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! You are back on your home turf and we appreciate it too.

First, congrats on your 2nd book and of course I’ll buy a half dozen.

On top of that, it was good to see wines available especially being worthwhile to try. Whew, I feel good but not as high as you must feel right now. Congrats!

QOTD: Meeting a wonderful lady from Australia through an internet game and we share our daily events and life history so that for me has crushed it!

    Thanks Gary

Congratulations on the book. Seems like you’ve got a bit going on and I hope you enjoy it.

QOTD: When did something last ‘crush it’ – playing tennis on Tuesday night, something I hadn’t done for ages and relly loved.

    Cheers

Good episode and good message. It is interesting to enjoy my growth in the wine world, and to watch your growth in your world.

QOTD – I recall a young lady (very loose definition of “young lady”) that my partner and I caught in a very tangled web of lies. When we finally sorted all the lies and brought the fact we had nailed her big time, we “Crushed It!!!”. Not the last time but one that truly stands out.

I have a question of the day. How does Jay Miller keep his job? the guy is off on his reviews so often it is not even funny. I just look at a Miller reviewed wine like it had never been scored.

    This show CRUSHED IT!

Welcome back Gary! As much as I enjoy the on-the-road format, I much prefer you in the thunder saddle. There seems to be more of a focus on the wine…maybe not in this episode…but that’s cool. Congrats on the book!

(I like the Mott-face zoom by the way.)

I’ve had the 2005 Château de Pibarnon, and it is an amzing bottle. Young, yet built to last!

    Hooray for WLTV!

Another great episode. I wondered if your excitement was clouding your judgment until you panned the last wine. It confirmed your integrity in tasting (scoring) the wines. Definitely want to check out the Bandol.

QOTD: I’ve Crushed It everyday when I count my blessings.

I think this weekend up in Victoria BC is going to crush it. So psyched. If anybody knows any must try restaurants up there, let me know.

That was fun Gary! I missed the old digs! Congrats on the book, I’ll probably wait till it comes out though…

QOTD: Seriously last thing that crushed it? The idea of a cinnimon toast crunch shake, I’m totally going to go buy some CTC and make one. I’ll email you if it rocks the hizzle.

QOTD: Blackhawks in the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 15 years. Crushed It.

Just bought your book. Congrats you truly are a jack of all trades.
Can’t wait to try a Bandol. Never heard of it… kind of feel stupid… should I?

Loved the show as always and the excitement too! Just ordered your new book and the old one. Hoping to get the famous wristband. I watch your show on my iphone daily so I did not download this podcast until today which is the 14th. I purchased the new book the same day. So please send me a wrist band. I need it to wear with all of your awesome T-shirts that I have already purchased. Love ya Gary!

QOTD: They last time something crushed it for me would have to be an emotionally situation that I cannot publish.

The book was the big announcement. The baby will be the next big announcement. The cruise crushed it for me. Wish the first two wines were about 20% cheaper. My wine buying price point has dropped in the last 6 months. Don’t worry about what people say about content. You have pumped out 675 episodes and not many shows do that.

  23. May 14, 2009

    Rob

Loved the show. Link up more MOTT!

I love it when you taste $Money$ wines that I will never be able to afford because it makes me feel good when you don’t always love them. When you get more pumped about a 10 bone Shiraz I get pumped about it as well.

QOTD: The last situation that CRUSHED IT was winning my second World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland! w0000t.

QOTD: this epic week-long war on empire earth has crushed it.

    GV,

Good show. Excited to try a Bandol. I’ve never had one. I’m going to look for this bottle for a special occasion!
