I’m huge fan of Pinotage .Thanks for the show and all the effort.
QOTD;It may be tough because you can’t ship wine everywhere.
But, you could offer it on schwag or stuff. Especially if you leave comments, that gets lurkers.

Wanted to propose a toast to my friend Chris – he unexpectedly passed away last week and he was a true wine lover. A absolute shame.

Weird, when you click to view comments, the oldest are at the top for this episode.

I think you missed one thing about the Pinotage. You were drinking a very young 2006. On the back label, it will tell you that it has years before it gets to the heights of maturity, and boy, can I tell you it is true! I just had a 1995 Kanonkop Pinotage last Saturday which was stunning. Of course you sell young wines, but one of the joys of wine is to drink the mature ones and to keep a number in the cellar (or under the bed for that matter) just to see them evolve!

I enjoy the diversity of the shows, so just keep up the good work! :-)

Haven’t had Dr. Frank’s PG but have tasted the Riesling and was quite impressed. In fact at a Riesling symposium last Dec. I saw him on a panel and we tasted it then, and immediately after both Johannes Selbach (Selbach-Oster, Mosel) and Armin Diel (Diel, Nahe) both took time out to comment on how impressed they were with the wine. Big ups, no doubt. Armin doesn’t say ANYTHING unless he means it, especially when it comes to compliments. So the Riesling IS worth trying.

QOTD:: Ummm, maybe my memory is faulty, but don’t you OFTEN offer up free shipping codes???

Nice episode. I did like the format- just throw it all out there! Your enthusiasm has been picking up lately, but it’s such an exciting time in your life! New book + new baby = awesome.

I just tried a cabernet-pinotage blend yesterday that was also quite good; a bing cherry explosion.

QOTD: I agree it would likely interfere too much. Part of your pride in the early episodes was your refute to ‘you’re just trying to promote WL’s wines’ by saying ‘no, we’re giving some terrible scores & some of my longtime clients are pissed at me’. That being said, I still think it would be a good tribute to the Vayniacs, so it could maybe work it you added an extra degree of separation. For example, don’t directly announce it on the show while you’re rating wines, but you could give a wink-wink nudge-nudge to head over to the WLTV Facebook page and post something there ;)

QOTD — nope . . . well, save the free shipping for the mystery packs or other group tastings

QOTD….I’m peaVed that WL still cannot ship to Illinois, so my answer is NO. If I can’t enjoy a discount on WL shipping, nobody else should. Why can’t WL figure out a way to ship to the most corrupt state in the Union? If the US Senate seat can be bought for only $1 million, how cheap would it be to get a shipping law changed?

The action figures are back. Nice candy-striper shirt. I was wondering about that Shoofly Chook Chard. Thanks for having it on the show.

QOTD: A few special offers and codes are always appreciated for the Vaynernation.

qotd – sure, why not? If you are concerned about being gimmicky you could limit the offer to special occasions or times. Like the faster pacing, but longer shows give more detail. The show has an ebb and flow in pacing, which is really nice.

    Gary!

I asked Randy Jackson what he thought about you offering special deals on WLTV. He told me to tell you that much like your singing, “It’s a little bit pitchy, dawg”.

QOTD……doesn’t matter to me…you can’t ship to Washington….and that makes me sad because many of the wines you review are not available here in the Seattle area…
