    Hey Gary,
I liked the contrast between the different wine styles in this episode.

QOTD: I would love a discount code or an “easter egg” of some sort to use in the store, and if you included one in every episode, I’d think that was just fine.

By the way, I would love to see an episode that contrasts the various wine making regions of the United States, both established (Napa, Finger Lakes, Texas) and evolving/returning regions (midwest, etc).

Oh, and I’m anxiously awaiting the Omaha episode. Please tell me you were able to save it!

QOTD: Yes, I would love to see a special promotion for Wine Library TV viewers — I don’t think it would be too smarmy or overt; rather, I’d think of it as a reward for loyal fans who watch the episodes the whole way through. (Not like that’s a burden — didn’t mean to imply that!)

Keep the enthusiasm coming Gary… That’s why we keep watching! :-)

Don’t care about shipping codes- we live on the west coast. Like the pace- keep it movin’!
    Great episode.

QOTD: Since I’m in TN where shipping wine is currently not happening, I’m neutral regarding whether it would selfishly benefit me or not. That being said, it could be a cool idea to once in a while have a free shipping code on your chalkboard. You wouldn’t even have to mention it. That way you’re not being overly pitchy. The observant viewers would pick up on it. But keeping it to a minimum would be good. We don’t want to lose the focus on the wine knowledge.

QOTD: Keep ‘em separate. If he wants a free shipping code, he should follow santagaryvee on Twitter or join the Facebook fan page. just imho.

Geez GV, don’t be afraid to promote yourself! hahaha…as if you didn’t know ;)
Heck, if we have to endure all these videos, we should at least get a coupon!!

QOTD: First had pinotage in Franschoek, South Africa and loved it!

Pinotage, I just threw up a little in my mouth….

QOTD: Its up to you man, gotta say there seems to always be free shipping codes lying around the site one way or the other.

Gotta try Pinotage. Every time that you try one on the show, you seem so intrigued by it.
QOTD: Other retailers have done a 1 cent shipping for certain months. Nice touch. A little more relevant to my purchasing than the Cinderella play.

    QOTD: Check out @wldaily.

I like the “digestability” of the speed + laid-back-ness combo. Awesome.

Not sure about the pace of today’s show, you came off as really bipolar lol.

qotd: Gary you have to understand many of us viewers do purchase from Wine Library, so I see nothing wrong for a way of thanks to give us some good deals, whether you show it in free shipping codes, or more wines with the WOTM club, any savings you give to the viewers can’t be a bad thing ever.

It’s only pitchy to the people who aren’t buying, but to us who are loyal to the library, we appreciate the savings.

So Gary, I just watched your Web 2.0 keynote. And I just want you to know, that even though what you do sucks…I appreciate it. Thanks for pumping out great stuff.

I was just looking up that exact same vermentino because a friend and I were going to an Italian restaurant in Charleston – Spoleto Festival – this coming weekend and that looked like their best bet by the glass, but it turned out they aren’t open on Sunday, so instead we’re going to a restaurant that has a 3 floor wine wall so we’re bound to find something there.
QOTD: pitchy, but you could direct watchers to a link.

QOTD: are you f-ing kidding me- there are 8 million free shipping codes all the time- every other wineliberary email has a free shipping code-Screw free shipping codes- I want free cheese!

@gotsha , they ship to IL now.
QOTD: Don’t put it in the show, maybe post free shipping on twitter and do it one or twice a month or so. WLTV or WL is like a local coffee shop to me: great staff, friendly environment, and frank recommendations. Of course I can go to a Starbucks-i.e. a local wine shop- but I wouldn’t get that great experience. I would like to contribute to WLTV by buying wine from WL, but the shipping is killing me, especially if you are a poor college student as myself. But it’s up to you.

    Good ep.

Until we can share the love with the states that can’t import wine you should keep it to a minimum. How about a campaign for changing the wine (world) laws?
Good show. Will have to look for the Pinotage.

QOTD: I think its probably better to keep a little distance between WLTV and the business. Besides, I already receive a multitude of offers from WL everyday.

  21. May 15, 2009

    Jacob L.

Glad to see you back in the thunder chair. I like the trips and guests as a change of pace, but its always nice to get back to business as it were. Glad that you had two good wines this episode, I felt so bad for you when you made the faces for those crappy wines last episode (didn’t stop me from laughing though).

QOTD: Being in Ohio, I couldn’t take advantage even if I wanted to, but I think doing rewards for watching would be a slippery slope, and it would become less about the experience of expanding palates, and make the show more about the deals.

    Mr Cook

I live in the Finger Lakes region so I am very familure with Dr. Frank’s and really like the 07 dry riesling. Sadly, their tasting building burned to the ground about a month ago. The rest of the winery was ok.

QOTD: Free shipping? Of course, but I would keep it to special occasions.

Thanks, G. This show brought me back to some of your older ones (circa 06/07) when it was just you and some wine. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy your guests, too. I guess I’m more into the content with less distractions.

Also, congrats to AJ, your new venture, and your book.

QOTD. I say leave it as it is. If someone wants something from WLTV, they can find it. I won’t mention anything ’cause I’m a selfish prick and find it hard to get some wines from WL due to the mad rush generated by your score/reaction.

qotd: keep -em seperate. You are smart to remove all doubt about your priorities.

QOTD: I’m with Dr. T – no except for maybe the secret packs. Speaking of which, it’s been awhile: maybe you should do a welcome to the world Vayner-baby secret pack (and pre-tape so we can be enjoying it while you’re learning about the 12-diaper-a-day routine!) ;)

I liked the pace of today’s show, though mixing it up works well, too.
