great ep, best blind tasting in a long time. loving how you’re kinda nerding it up in the last couple episodes. what ever happened to Sir Gary?

QTOD: the do looks great, perfect for the weather we’re getting here in jersey.

Waiting for the phone to ring on camera. By the way it was wine #1. Great catch on the cabernet. Have had the Vega Escal, and my rating was only 86 so we don’t quite agree on that one. Want to get the number 1 and 2. Even at $40 for Priorat they aren’t bad in price. Looks to me like the hair is getting a little less with each cut. Before too long you will have my haircut.

QOTD: Forget the hair, that shirt needs to go. At least don’t wear it on WLTV. The lines were too fine for the camera and they were doing a sort of dance the whole time. Very distracting.

    great blind show.

never gone down the priorat road, think its time.

    QOTD: the hair is nice.

I hope the show survives the birth of your child. If it doesn’t you should consider passing on the show to someone else whom you think has your passion and love of wine.

QOTD: Nice haircut, it looks like mine. =)

Really liked today’s show. Back to the old WLTV blind tasting format and focused on one wine style.

Been watching WLTV since 07 – and would like you to keep it alive maybe once or twice a week. WLTV is part of the reason for your popularity and now tight schedule. Don’t quit on it, but keep it going at a more modest pace. I look forward to shows like you did today.

Noticed the corks are on the table, isn’t that somewhat cheating? I have yet to see a cork without the winery name on it.

Ok, have to ask….just how do you know what a pig fart smells like? Maybe we DON’T want to know on second thought….

QOTD: Uhh didn’t notice; you look the same as you always do.

Hey no one confuse me with the K-Man who thinks Gary has jumped the shark lately-

I think Gary is just the same phony wine salesman he was in episode 1-LOL

    I love you Oprah,

QOTD: I don’t know how much difference will there be in terms of the cut…sorry! Looks pretty simple, but you stil llokk like yourself! New daddy look, ay!

Anyway, great show…hopefully WLTV will and can survive! Love the blind tastings, especially from such a hot region!

Descriptions of wines #3 and #4 were classic GV! Nobody else can get away with comparing a wine to a cookie cutter graduation speech and then come back with the “pomegranete carwash” and “pig fart” comments. Love it.

    QOTD: Whatever.

    Blind tasting. Really great! ;-)
QOTD: I think it looked good before and after your haircut.

Unbelievable. To call that Pasanau cab-like, and then find out that it is 80% cab. These are the subtleties of your genius that go unnoticed and unrecognized. The next time my wife says, are you watching that idiot again? I will point to instances like this one to prove her wrong. (Direct Quote, not trying to bash, she is not a Veyniak like the rest of us)
By the way, we just had a daughter 4 months ago. Get ready my friend because life as you know it will never be the same. You may find your hair even shorter as you start to pull some of it out trying to calm the new baby!!!!
By the way, boy or girl?????

awsome…you are what you are. gary.

QOTD. You and I have been forced to share the same haircut style, though I’m a bit more advanced in the process of loosing it. ;)

Love the blind tastings. Keep them coming.

Don’t listen to the critics. We know under the “entrepreneur” skin the REAL Gary is still very much alive. Crush it!!!

Greetings Vayno: Your current hair style is much better than your earlier spiked punked look. Mine is about the same; you could do this cut very easily yourself with an electric clipper.
About your opening comments: I have watched every episode, and I love the way you ‘go with the flow’, like a twig on the shoulder of a mighty river! Again, it is your show and you do it well; no need to keep asking us to critique your performance. You rock the house!
    Smell it first. TR

I love Priorat… but not how you always describe them. You’re always saying how they’re massive, bombastic wines. That is certainly the new trend there, with Jay Miller blowing up every single wine he tastes. However, there is still plenty of old school Priorat that is more like your 5th wine today… lighter bodied, subtle, and amazingly sublime in its approach. This is the type of Priorat that I love. It’s harder to find these days (and I certainly stay away from the Jay Miller 94+ point ones), but let us not forget this style… surely you’ve had way more Priorat than me, but every time you talk about it you talk about how big they are. Not always so…

QOTD: The hair is too short.

    ***GARY***(wonder if you’re reading this?),

Fantastic on hitting the Cabernet. First thing I did was check that as soon as the video was done. Really, super cool. Let me second so many of the comments here. WHY I HAVE BEEN WATCHING SINCE EPISODE #1 is simple. You’re good at tasting, and you’re often informative. You’ve got loads of energy. Today’s tasting notes were great. I have always loved the fact that supposedly “great wines” often receive low scores. You calls ‘em as you tastes ‘em, and that’s why I watch.

QOTD: It’s a haircut. It looks good, but not a real radical departure from styles of the past. It’s no Mohawk.

This episode is priceless. I love Priorat, and of course, I lean more toward the Grenache-based ones. I tasted the Vega Escal Priorat 2005 during the Grand Tasting on the Thunder Cruise. I did not like it nearly as much. Gave it an 84pt score, and found it to be a little bit disjointed. I tried to buy a Clos Galena in the online store, and there’re two, same name, same vintage, obviously different prices, and I mistakenly picked the one that is on futures, and since I was using the Crush it promo code, I could not buy it. QOTD. I did notice the haircut right away, and it’s interesting because I got my haircut yesterday also, so we could have had it done at the same time. It’s not a manly thing to comment about another man’s looks, but Concepcion thinks that you look better with a little bit more carpet on the top floor. Great, great blind tasting show!

Love the Spainish power plays, Priorat by far the star player for the momement in the world market, but dont limit to just the regions red grapes, there are a few amazing (and under priced) white wines comming from this area as well: Mas Igneus “Barranc dels Closos” $20 :Conreria d’Scala Dei “Les Brugueres” $28 and these are just what i have at home!
    But as always CRUSH IT

    QOTD: BIC IT!
