    About Tolosa...

I can't buy that specific chardonnay and vintage because they don't sell it in any stores here in Finland.

BUT, what I can say from my experience is that you should never taste oaky chardonnay after couple of dry sauvignon blancs. It just doesn't taste right.

Sauvignon blanc attacks your palate with young acid and fruityness - and after that all most any Chardonnay will be a boring experience. It alters your palate and kills all balance of the wine.

Actually I'd like to challenge you to try out this theory.

QOTD: Just streamed Slumdog Millionaire through Vudu box. Pretty great flick.
  • Nice Vid, keep up the good work :-)

The best movie I have seen recently would be Twilight. If you have not seen it you need to. My husband and I were recently married and on our wedding night we had a living room picnic with some chianti and we watched this movie. I reccomend it definitely for a date night.

Good show GV - must be good to be back in the saddle, but I see a lack of shows?

TOTD - probably not going to waste my money on the wine.

QOTD - Taken - Liam Neeson in a bad-ass role.

    QOTD:
Slumdog Millionaire. No really, it was beautifully filmed. And I like happy endings.

re: Tolosa - I'd love to see a thread on this in the forum...come on GV, do something wine-relaed for us, would ya? I'd love a discussion on who tasted the wine and what they thought...
    ;)

buying the simone tonight, we can't wait to try it. We just started watching your show and LOVE it. We are new into wine and watch atleast 3 of your shows a night! Keep up the good work. Thanks to you Noah is finally getting into whites!!

Just rented and watched for the first time ever "The French Connection". Gene Hackman is like wine, he was great back then but has gotten better with age.
  • TOTD: Working on finding the wine, will get back to you once I find it.

QOTD: Changeling...GREAT movie, was SOOOO underrated when it came out.
  • ROFLMAO over the description "Boring, like a white piece of paper with no crayons in sight"!!!! Hilarious.

    Movie: Office Space

    Did you get the memo?

Gary great to see you back in the saddle along with Mott.Hope little Mischa is thriving, I am sure she is with such loving caring parents.

    QOTD: The Wrestler
  • Scottie P
Good show, great to have you back GV.
QOTD: The only movies I've seen lately have been Star Wars films. My 5 yr old son loves watching Darth Vader and beating me up with his red Light Saber. Priceless!
  • Vanessa Miller
I tried the Nobilio Icon a few weeks ago after reading 92 WS and 85 WE. It tasted to me like I pulled my not-so-ripe green pepper plant out of the garden and noshed.

QOTD: Probably not what Gary is looking for but maybe Lizzie would enjoy: La Belle et la Bete. French Beauty and the Beast film from 1946. Exquisite. From Netflix: Tokyo Joe with Humphrey Bogart. He finds out he's a father of a little six year old girl and it changes his life.
  • Manny
Fun Show, now im craving Chilean Sauv Blanc!

QOTD= Last Chance Harvey....good movie about life and the people around you.

    Synopsis:
New Yorker Harvey Shine is on the verge of losing his dead-end job as a jingle writer. Warned by his boss that he has just one more chance to deliver, Harvey goes to London for a weekend to attend his daughter's wedding but promises to be back on Monday morning to make an important meeting--or else. Harvey arrives in London only to learn his daughter has chosen to have her stepfather walk her down the aisle instead of him. Doing his best to hide his devastation, he leaves the wedding before the reception in hopes of getting to the airport on time, but misses his plane anyway. When he calls his boss to explain, he is fired on the spot. Drowning his sorrows at the airport bar, Harvey strikes up a conversation with Kate, a slightly prickly, 40-something employee of the Office of National Statistics. Kate, whose life is limited to work, the occasional humiliating blind date and endless phone calls from her smothering mother, is touched by Harvey, who finds himself energized by her intelligence and compassion. The growing connection between the pair inspires both as they unexpectedly transform one another's lives.
  • QOTD: James Bond: Quantum of Solace. I am really enjoying Daniel Craig as James Bond, way way way better than Pierce Brosnan IMO. Pretty funny about that Cali chard, I am going to have to go grab a bottle and tear it up on cellartracker.
  • Travis
Good episode....looking forward to tasting that sauvignon blanc.

the movie, JCVD - a little jean claude van-damme action.

Gary, it's been a long time man, since I've commented on WLTV, although I have been in touch on FB. Huge "ups" on the birth of your beautiful little girl, Misha Ava (very pretty name)!

I have not had a 7 dollar bottle of wine all year, but the Simone truly brought "thunder"! I ordered 2 more bottles today.

QOTD: Old school: My Cousin Vinny & Clerks
New releases: Taken, Vantage Point, all 3 Pirates of Carribean.

Thanks for the time you still give so generously. All my best wishes to you, Liz, & the newest Vayniac, Misha! God bless you all, Mike
  • QOTD: Angels and Demons, it was just ok, a little like the Tolosa that you tasted ;)
  • Rick
    QOTD: Defiance

    QOTD: There Will be Blood...
  • Hahaha... Picnic Bird Chardonnay.... classic. Good episode!

Haven't seen a lot of films I was really enthusiastic about lately. Milk was probably the last really inspirational movie I've seen.
  • rowland
hospital band idea sounds kinda gross ...
  • QOTD - Rented Teen Wolf - is that old school enough for you Gary?!!
  • Kirk
QOTD: Defiance (with the new James Bond guy)

Gary...it's great to have you back in the seat. Is there any idea when will we be seeing the WLTV forums up and running again?
  • CooGAR
QOTD - Waking Ned Devine. If you haven't seen it, you'll love it!
  • JCN
Picnic Bird! One of my favorite WLTV moments ever.
  • Pendrops
Argh, Gary. I love watching your show. I've learned a lot through it, but I'm starting to get discouraged. Whenever I see a deal I might be interested in trying for myself, it's nearly impossible to find. I live in a dry county in Kentucky and the closest wine merchant is a half hour drive from my house. But even when I go, it's hard to find the wine I saw on Thunder Show, and the price point down here is usually higher anyway. I wish our legislature would change the wine laws so Wine Library could ship me some vino straight to my home. Sorry for the rant, but that Simone on the show is the perfect example of what I'm talking about.
  • Craig
LMAO @ the Witch Scratch N Sniff sticker comment. Brings back great memories. I bet you loved the Dill Pickle one.
  • best movie in the past 8 weeks: 'Round Midnight. moves kind of slow, but if you like jazz don't miss it
  • Agent Orange
QOTD: surprise hit, "Three Sheets" from Netflix. Zane Lamprey hosts a show (not sure where it was originally broadcast) on drinking traditions in different cultures. Would love to see him as a guest, once you're back in that mode.
  • clintster
i netflix the movie It could happen to you wow i need help lol
  • darin latimer
QOTD - Summer Hours dir. by Olivier Assayas and co-starring Juliette Binoche. When I was a kid a movie like this would have been a exceeding-the-art house hit...now...thank god for IFC on Demand.

It's about the three children whose recently deceased mother was the keeper of the flame and likely ex-lover of their famous painter uncle and the non-chalance with which they dispose her estate.

Actually Gary...maybe you should wait a couple years to watch this one.
  • Hospital tags till they fall off? hmm. only Happy Hospital tags, ugh?

Bottle Shock. I"m a little behind in my movies. haha.
  • Clayton Brown
qotd: Seven Pounds W/ Will Smith great movie and I mean it.

P.s. Have you heard of or tried and Argentinian White Blend by the name of New Age? I would like to know what you think
  • Eric Godfrey
GV!! Firstly, I THOROUGHLY loved the episode you shot at home...and especially the "special guest" appearence!! Safe to say, I'm seeing plenty of family resemblences...Remember, I'm DEFINITELY the first "Vayniac" to ever have met you in person! Onto some wine notes...I havent had the pleasure of tasting the Simone SB, but needless to say I have found several other Chilean Sauv Blancs in that price range which have "wowed" my palate & brought some thunder. As far as the Nobilo, our palates agree for the most part. To me, it's well made, but a rather pedestrian new zealand SB. Off the top of my head, I can easily think of nearly a dozen others which are less expensive, yet pack much more intrigue. As far as Tolosa products...Edna Chard we agree. BORING! I actually find it rather hot on the finish and I also feel that it's very one dimensional. However, Tolosa does make an unoaked chard...I havent tasted the latest vintage, but i truly did enjoy the 2006. They also make a Pinot which for $14-$15 was rather nice...Check them out if you get the opportunity, my friend. Many blessings to the family as always...
