Love your shows Gary, I just bought this wine to lay down so great to see your show on it.

04 was birth of my son, so I’ll crack it open when he’s 18

I am a big fan of this wine. I have had several bottles in the past, mostly in Europe.

QOTD – my dad passed away in 2004 and I think of him when this year comes to mind.

Hey GV – I’m sorry, but growing up in Maine and being a huge baseball lover, 2004 reminds of when the curse of the freaking Bambino was lifted forever!!!!!!!!!!! Rock On!!

    Gary,
Bought a 05 Haut Brion at your store back in May and will definitely cellar it for awhile so I don’t encounter a La Mission episode like you. When you say 2004, I think of the evening I proposed to my wife in NYC after I surprised here with a weekend trip there for Valentine’s Day.

    Good reference to SHRINKAGE!
QOTD: 2004.. funny you just said that. I was looking at a friend of mines golf handicap in 04 and it was a 25. He’s now a 14. Pretty good improvement in just a few years.

Nice little show. I don’t see how you could determine a real score for this wine given its youth. 2004? I have a lot of 2000’s that are just starting to be reasonable after several hours of decanting.

QOTD: 2004? Well, I remember it for two very different reasons: 1) I visited Bordeaux which was great, and 2) My youngest nephew died at the age of 30 from a rare form of cancer. It was a very difficult time for my family.

QOTD: I think of an awesome trip I made to New York.

04’s got to be the Fromm La Strada Marlborough PN for me, my original favourite Pinot ($23NZ early last year too, so cheap as chips) I’ve only 1 bottle left though :( .

QOTD: I know this makes me a youngin’, but 2004 is my high school class year.

    2004=manliness.

Also, Beau Timken didn’t mention my name and I know you filmed the show already but it was me, J Crazy, who set that up. Hope everyone enjoys it.

I think about The Passion of the Christ.
Good show, sad it did not open up for you.
Hope all is well and keep bringing the thunder.

Gary — Enjoyed the show quite a bit. I read through the comments and 100% agree focusing on a single wine and bringing the wine nerd thunder was a great change of pace!!! Interesting to hear your thoughts on the 2004 Bordeaux and their value PLAY relative to 2005. Also, I disagree with Jason Carey and don’t think you overuse the word “play”. It’s YOUR wine lingo and one of many things that distinguish you in the wine world!!!

QOTD: Recent research has shown the empirical evidence for globalization of
corporate innovation is very limited. And as a corollary, the market
for technologies is shrinking. As a world leader, it is important for America to provide systematic research grants for our scientists. I believe there will always be a need for us to have a well-articulated innovation policy with emphasis on human resource development. Thank you. [applause]

    Where’d that come from?

    What happened? I blacked out.

Qotd: When you say 2004 then I think to the birthday of my son.

Congrats belated to the birth of your child. All the best and good health to you and your family from Germany.

QotD: I think 04 Italian.. From what I’ve read (and tasted) they were some pretty good wines..

convinced me this isn’t a wine for me.

QOTD: 2004? I drove Indy car at LaGuna speedway.. oh, you mean wine?

When Gary says 2004, I think of graduating from college, the New England Patriots winning their second Super Bowl, and the Boston Red Sox finally winning a World Series after 86 years

Re Alex Cussins – missunderstanding: Ch. la Conseillante is not a small wine at all…! My comment was that beside the well known wines such as la conseillante, giscours, cos d’estournel etc. I had a lot of other “smaller” chateaux’ such as escurac, poujeaux, cambon la pelouse or la gurgue and they all where “classic Bordeaux”.

QOTD – I think of changing jobs and being at home more instead of being on the road much of the time.

Yo G, Extremely Interesting Episode, Moooochoooo Thanx!!! How do you
REALLY KNOW that a $115 bottle of Vino like that, that tastes raunchy
NOW, will NOT taste raunchy after it “matures” in a few years????
    Isn’t it a bit of a crap-shot-of-sorts???

qotd: 2004??? Aaaahhhhh, lets see…… A Good Year for Tuscan Vino??….
