QOTD: Re-read the Harry Potter series in preparation for the upcoming movie. Yeah, I’m a dork and proud (or nerd, or whatever).

Pinot Noir Blanc sounds exciting… will look for one even though you almost dissed it, have to try for myself.

QOTD: nerdiest thing I’ve done so far this year is hacking a Palm Lifedrive to see if I could change the operating system, it was a handful, couldn’t make it work properly.

    Good show.

Good show…and it’s always exciting to see some Oregon wine love on the show…

QOTD: unplugged my wine cooler because it was running too hot!

GV, There you go again pouring wine out like a F-ing low life. This crap doesn’t work anymore. How about the lowly 55 comments you got. Remember the days when you received 1000 comments when this show had momentum. I have called you out before on this rediculous move. You shame the history of wine, built around culture, class and elegance. Everytime you pull this stunt your putting down the Wine world. This arogance will catch up to you. Really worked , 55 comments, da!. Take a note from your dad who was genuine and frugal with his $12 wine you featured on Father’s day. He is still humble. You my friend will fall from Grace. Back to shoveling pig crap!

    Hey Gary,
I met the next Gary Vaynerchuk on Monday at the US Open. The parking situation on Long Island was terrible, so this 13 yr old kid saw a business opportunity and rented out all the driveways in his neighborhood to the fans. Then he organized all the parents on the street to drive people to the course. The kid was a pure hustler and rumor has it, he pulled in over $3000 and lined up an internship over the summer. Not too bad for five days work. Maybe when your ready to hang it up in 20+ years you can look him up.

Great short episode. You should do more of these. Interesting wine as well. I also think that the link in the forums is a great idea. It got me here.

Great pour!!! I’ve heard of Domaine Serene’s Coeur Blanc (white wine from Pinot Noir) but haven’t tried it & its pricier. QOTD: My girlfriend.

Novel indeed – never heard of it.
QOTD: nerdiest thing is likely the gajillion hours of research about planting grapes this far north.

I attempted to use the Buckingham-pi theorem to do a meaningful dimensional analysis of perception of wine quality, from an aesthetic perspective. Trying to identify dimensionless groups was probably just plain silly.

    Awesome show Gary!

QOTD: I’m in the process of learning how to program a “digital frequency modulation” synthesizer from the 80’s. Super dorky. Also bought an Austrian Zwiegelt just because it’s nerdy.

QOTD: I guess it would have to be building a computer for my brother. That seems like a pretty nerdy activity.

I am a super nerd that loves Football (MN Vikings) and working on cars, so I get to straddle both worlds.

Great episode, will look up for white Pinot.

QOTD: I am a film nerd, into all sort of weird stuff (Jodorofky, Lynch etc..). But two nights ago i sat down an hour and a half and watched Terminator 3 just to remind myself that this is probably the worse film ever made

QOTD thats easy. I tested the Mott on Unlimited Nested Quotes in the Forum..we got to 40 and he pulled the plug…..power trip! now we respect the GREAT Mott. who giveth and taketh away.

Blanc de Noirs, Whites With skin contact. Red grapes without…. after a wine made from rice you go to a white made from red???. Time to go back to basics GV. The old ways of making wine are best

Interesting show, love that you try new wines. Missed the comparison to another wine though.

QOTD: oh probably lots of stuff on a daily basis but recent ones include

    - Put my http://www.cellartracker.com spreadsheet into a new Business Intelligence tool called Explorer just to play around with the data and visualize it (yes, I am a sad software nerd)
    - Read a Manga comic about wine!
    - Wine tasting; Tried Granache Blanc, Granache Rose (the grape not the wine style) and zero dosage “ultra brut” champagne. The Granache Rose was the only wine that was a pazz.
    - had withdrawls with the WL forums were down!!

I like when you do more than one wine. I still enjoyed the episode, though. I had a white wine made with pinot noir from Germany recently that I thought was quite good and cost much less than the wine you reviewed. Since you’re trying to “nerd it up” with the one wine episode, it might have made sense to mention Champagne. You know why.

qotd: tasting wine in the morning. It’s not out of the ordinary for me, but it is kind of nerdy standing in front of the kitchen sink tasting and spitting wine before work.

Love the color on this one — bright like a sauv. blanc, but with a bit of golden warmth to it. Nice. The licorice and minerals (from the tasting notes) might get my cash, but I’d need an unoaked version. Great idea, though.

QOTD: that would be during the 72-hour EEG (results were normal — no big whup), when I was walking around with a big old bandage on my head with a couple dozen wires sticking out of it and hooked up to a backpack thing with blinking green lights. The nerdy part was the technician and I making up things to say to people when they asked me what it was. (Which nobody did. Culture picked a great time to start being polite all of a sudden!) The top two on the list were “You should see the other girl,” and “What? [pause] The aliens! Listen, maybe YOU don’t care about your thought processes, but some of us love America! [said while stomping off].” Darn. I was really hoping to get a chance to use that second one.

QOTD: Nerdiest thing I’ve done this year (to me) is make a spreadsheet detailing all of the bottles that I have.

I watch every episode of WLTV. Now how nerdy is that! P.S. I agree with my man Mott! Smell it first. TR
