    hey Gary

First time I’ve seen the whole show. wow. You bring so much energy. Very interesting to see you review Cameron Hughes. i was introduced to them by a friend in the biz (Sales/Catering mgr for a private club) who told me what a deal CH wines are and how well they age, and that I can pick them up at Costco. After trying a few I was thrilled to find their website and join their email list. I have taken advantage of ordering several different lots that weren’t carried at my local Costco – that’s part of the deal – not everything is distribute everywhere and it is kind of random. Most of them have been good if not great, with only one or two I wasn’t crazy about.

    Keep up the good work.

    Gary,

First off so grateful for you and your show. I can’t tell you how many hidden gems I’ve found by following your advice of “expand your palette”. For me though it’s not so much about the wine, as it is the people that gather around to share it with me, imagine all the conversations that wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for wine or food for that matter. Great wine and food is the means of gathering by rarely the point. Didnt want to get all deep on ya, anyway thanks for the show and the good times!

SOTD: Gary, love the episodes, but have been having a bit of withdrawal with you being so busy and not always being able to pump out shows…………Please continue to nerd it up as I feel there is so much knowledge that you have yet to share with us…………Its been a while since you’ve given your two cents on the current vintages of high end cali cabs. Keep up all the good work!

    Gary -
Can’t thank you enough for WLTV and all that you share with us. Love the loop of Beat It in the background, kept hearing the barely audible Eddie Van Halen guitar solo throughout the ep. Would love to see a new episode featuring some lesser-known Spanish wines. I know you’ve done them in the past, but I hope it’s time to bring ‘em back. Rock on!

Wondering what wines you suggest to pour at weddings. Love weddings and wine, but typically end up drinking vodka at weddings and it makes me sad.

You mentioned Simi winery toward the end. And I thought you might find it interesting that my best friends family are the original owners of Simi winery (hence her last name) and they have a 1936 bottle on their wall. Can’t remember the varietal, but interesting none the less.

Good show. Keep it up (like I really need to tell you that ;])

Entertaining and educational a usual. Always a good end to my day to catch the show :-)

    SOTD:
As a very long time viewer, just keep doing what you are happy doing. The show is your vehicle, just have fun with it. Stop went it is not fun for you anymore…
I would like to see a show on the current buying trends – i.e. recommendations on moving down as the belt it tightening (i.e. going from typical $20-30 to $10-20 price point). Given your access to wines, I think you should be able to suggest alternatives to people – if you have been buying this, consider this cheaper one and this alternative. I know you have been covering this a little in each episode but a show or 2 dedicated to it might be a real plus (one red and one for whites/sparkling?).

Also, where is the Sekt episode we talked about years ago? ;-)

Great show, Great couple of shows.

SOTD: I love the randomness of the shows. Of course I will live some better than others. SO WHAT we wouldn’t have the “Great One’s” with out a klunker now and then. Keep the objectivity. I love the real reactions from you.

    Cheers, Tim

Another great episode, Gary. Glad the wines got better as you went along: it’s always disappointing to finish on a downer.

What do I want? I want to build an amazing online sales system into my website and open the eyes of the world to everything the Australian wine world has to offer. We are seriously undersold.

Oh, and if everyone could stop killing each other, world peace would be nice too (if you don’t mind).

Gary – Interesting but frustrating. Why review wines that are not available? It would have been great to place an order for that Cab right after the show. That said, I am still a Vayniac and will so remain.

I’ve been working at a wine and spirits shop since February and I’m enjoying the heck out of it. My favorite part is when repeat customers ask for my suggestions. It makes my day.

I’ve seen Cupcake wine from all over the world. I haven’t tried it but I see that it sells very well. I’ve had Black Elk, another private label wine and I enjoy their wines.

    Heya Gary,
    I love your show!
How do you choose your wines to review? do you take on board requests?

Great show. It’s good to see if the Costco brands are a true value. I have had the Cameron Hughes Syrah before and liked it. They have so many lots, I can’t even remember which one. Lot 53 perhaps?

SOTD: I totally understand your passion for your daughter. I never knew my soul could be rocked like that until I had my own daughter a year ago. Your world is no longer yours any more. People are always telling me she’s daddy’s little girl. It’s the other way around. I’m all hers.

I got into wine about three years ago when I was given charge of the wine list at the country club where I work. I stumbled across your website while searching for a description of a wine I was featuring. I started watching the show and have been hooked ever since. It did a lot to increase my wine knowledge and to make wine not so intimidating. Now I am the one telling others all kinds of interesting tid-bits of info and doing my best to increase others wine knowledge and passion for the vino. Thanks for all the hard work to pump out quality and fun shows for us to enjoy.

PS People are always making a big deal about nothing, like the pouring out of a little wine while having fun. I agree with you GV sometimes you have got to color outside the lines and have alittle fun. Don’t stop having fun.

    Love the Wu-Tang reference… C.R.E.A.M! :)

SOTD: I had my girlfriend with me this time to enjoy the show. She is a first-time watcher of the “Thunder Show” and her statement for you is… She appreciated the recomendation of the Zin from today as a white wine drinker.

Are you coming to Portland during your signing tour this year?

    Thanks and best,

I was just wondering if you, or anyone, knew exactly what type of wine Jesus drank?
It would be cool if you talked about this.

PROS: You’ve been on a roll since you’re week off. Every show has been pretty much phenomenal. Will look forward to your content as long as you can pump it out.

CONS: As good as your chops have been, I look forward to the show every day and the “off air” days are a killer for morale. Also, I think the girl friend may be getting jealous for my attention. And bring back Sir Gary!

    Gary, Loved the C.H. show!!!!

I agree with a lot of the other comments re: your shows post baby have really brought an amazing amount of thunder. Its like your energy is back in full force because you have more things to be energized about!

SOTD: Have you ever tried Disc Golf. Disc golf brings the thunder in my life!

There are plenty of good courses in NJ.

    DO it already!

I just recently found out about your show. It’s fantastic!! I really want to get into wine and you make it sound so easy and accessible. I plan on touring some vineyards out in Texas Hill Country pretty soon. Need to start developing my palate and nose!!

Love the show, have been following since about dec 08. My faves are the ones where you nerd it up. I like learning new stuff, trying new things, and that’s where the show really shines. Keep it up Gary! And keep the attitude :) you rock!
