Awesome…love the nerdy aspects of the show!
    Keep the nerdy-ness rocking!

QOTD: had a 1998 Morton Estate Black Label Merlot Cabernet (from Hawkes Bay)…awesome!
my nerdy notes- cherry, blackcurrant, berries plus a good mix of leather and slight barnyard characters on the nose while on the palate, great intense cherry juice with red berry fruits together with some blackcurrant and plums before a the barnyard like midpalate and a long leathery finish with hints of dark chocolate. Med-full bodied, great acid structure and transition with great balance. Overall, excellent!

Luv the nerdy-ism ….. it’s free education ….. thanks Gary!

QOTD: JIM BEAM Straight Rye Whiskey.

    Cool show.

QOTD: I had a couple 1800 Margaritas. Shot of 1800 Tequila, little triple sec, a little peach schnapps(my secret addition), some sour mix, a little sweetened fresh lime juice. Shack, salt, enjoyed.

Dude…1st time commenter and really enjoy the show!! just looked at the last comment and put 2 and 2 together…sorry but this is my nerdiness. take a looksy and see how (wine)nerd, if pronounced in the same vein as the germans would…sounds like vineyard. (wine)nerd=vineyard..haha, what do you think??

Nice episode. Goes to show that price is not always right :) Like your approach towards wine as an individual experience. Started watching a month ago and are now browsing through the archive every night.

QOTD: Drank a red Bordeaux 2007 Chateau Haux. It’s a small estate runned by a danish corp and I have some stocks and are therefore get to buy each vintage (red and white)at a reasonable price.
The wine sniffed :) green grass, a little bit of licorice, oak and ceder wood. The wine wirled :) red berries, dark chocolate, hay and some white pepper. Lot’s of tannins, should probably mature 2-3 years

    Hey Gary,
Nice show! The (wine)nerds wil rise again!!
QOTD: We did a vertical tasting of Beyerskloof this weekend.
About Santenay: I visited Burgundy ten times, tasted lots of wines and only 15/20 where any good just like you proved in your show…
Thats the toll of having a big name i guess…

QOTD: Saturday I had a couple of Hendricks Gin martinis with slices of cucumber. Delicious.

This was not as nerdy as the FB and Tweets would have led me to believe. Or maybe my nerd threshold is way too high!

    Great Show, Gary!
I’ve been watching (from europe ‘Belgium’) since episode 400 and have learned a lot of new cool wines from you.
Watching out for the white santenay…

QOTD: I had a pretty nice weekend. Started of Friday with a ‘07 Mahi Sauvignon Blanc NZ
    On Saterday 2 Sancerre’s from Henri Bourgeois: La Bourgeoise ‘03 & Cuvee d’Antan ‘02.
Sunday a Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1e cru ‘Clos de la Chatenieres’ ‘07 (who blow my socks away, thanks for the tip in episode 410)
Finishing yesterday with a Bonny Doon Ca’ del Solo Albarino ‘07.
All 5 terrific wines on a fantastic weekend.

    QOTD:

Went a little old school today(for me anyway), and had a Rutherford Hill Merlot 03. Definitely such interesting Cherry/Plum play, A little too much acidity but nothing a little aeration didn’t fix.

Oh tried the Roots from your hotel eps. not the greatest but definitely worth trying just for the experience, and worth the six bones(no more).

Good review and keep up the nerdy! :-)

Love the nerdy-ness today Gary. Keep it up.

QOTD – Trying to stay healthy so I stuck with water straight out of the tap. Gotta keep it old school sometimes, you know?

I had an easy drinking Chard by Penfolds and a nice 2003 Cru bourgois by Chateau Lousteauneuf which I really liked. It was a fruit meets spice thing going on…

You should really get some high-end German pinot noirs on the show. I think those are worth a try. Anyway I used to life at Chicago (some years ago) and remember it was hard to find German reds in the US. It seemed strange to me that I was offered a lot of Gewürztraminer when I was asking for German wines which is not the most favored varietal over here.

    Regards from Germany

Love the nerd episodes. Espiecially with your “international” wines. We get very few North American wines in New Zealand, so I don’t tend to watch your US wine shows as impossible to get. However we’re well served with European and South American wines, quite apart from our Australasian wines. Your shows have encouraged me to try more intersting wies from these regions. Just love Loire Reds for instance.
Last weekend was in Queenstown so tried central Otago pinot noir. Gibbston 2007 PN excellent, no so hot on the Amisfield 2007. Watched the bungy jumping but at $165 a jump told them I would prefer 4 bottles of Gibbston PN!

Good show Gary! Love the wine nerd stuff.

QOTD: I drank a Schrader Cellars second label wine 2005 Double Diamond Cab Sav Bomber X. It was terrific!

    QOTD:
It was a great wine weekend for me…hightlights:
-Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta DOCG NV Brut – beautiful traditional method bubble
-Claus Preisinger’s Heideboden White AND Red blends. Fantastic natural wines.

The engineer in me loves it when you nerd it up! Picked strawberries this morning; I made the whole house smell like hot jam – reminded me of some Pinos I’ve had lately.

QOTD: Today I opened up a bottle of Gigi Rosso Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba ‘06. It has very forward fruit on the nose, with floral hints on the nose. The initial attack is fruit forward, but the finish is quite dry and tannic. New world fruit with old world structure – interesting play for my first Dolcetto.

STOP (at the 3:30 mark) – Love your father but disagree w/ the rest of Jack’s comment about guests. Some of the best shows are you interacting w/ a guest.
There are so many memorable moments. From the celebs to the wine geek sommeliers to just regular type folks.
Sure there are some misses, but overall the mix of guests, flip cams on the road & wine geek stuff by yourself makes this the THUNDER SHOW!!!

    I had a domaine dujac 95′ bonnes mares !!!!!!

I love santenay….if i had it my way, i’d ask u to do a burgundy month and cover every village in the

    cote d’or…

.I think that would be rad.

You could cover two villages per day…and hit em’ all f!!!!!!!
