QOTD: my health. I learned I had contracted the big “C” last year and it was obviously a life changing event. As you always hear but it is so true, life each day to the fullest, as if it might be your last.

I think I take for granted the life I am having. Granted, things could be better, but I have my health, I am about to get married to a gorgeous loving woman, there is a bit of rough road ahead with getting a decent job, but life is good. Thanks for reminding me.

@Adrums,

What are you talking about, non-oaked? Red Shoulders ranch Chard (current release ‘07) is not only barrel fermented, but barrel aged, sur lie, for 14 months in NEW, mostly French Oak! Except for 25% stainless.

Nice deck GV! When are you having us over for a barbecue? I’d like to see a show centering more on some petit verdot. I know you don’t see many producers bottling PV by itself but there are a few producing wines with a large percentage of it. Red Head Studios Yard Dog red is one that I enjoy often with an awesome price. I’d like to see some others.

QOTD: The ATM. People bitch about the fees but forget that not too long ago, if you wanted cash, you could only get it during bank hours. Now we have banks open at all hours but back then it just wasn’t so.

Gary – With that question of the day your getting some deep answers.

First off, good episode and I thought a lot of the past comments had a lot of merit. Yes, your deck looks cool (hope you continue to show us more). An episode with Bobby Flay would be neat – food and wine pairings. Yes, you do seem much more relaxed on the patio shows. Almost like a Friday.

Qtd – My health and lifestyle. I think the poster “Gregory” really summed up the health part great. As far as lifestyle, I mean that I take for granted the decent surroundings I live in, in a safe suburb with a decent wife and daughter and decent family. Even though I’m one of the unemployed, there is plenty to sit back and reflect upon. Deep, deep show – especially for us guys! Next you’ll be asking about our innermost feelings!

Nice diggs gary, can I crash at your place if I come to NY…….lol just kidding.Shafer is definitely an exceptional winery,I have had several of their wines and never had a bad one.

QOTD:I recently went back to school after moving threw several career changes in the last decade, and I had forgotten how much fun taking on such a challenge could be.Although, I have found myself busy as hell trying to keep up,I find myself rising to every challenge.I guess a few years ago I thought I was to old to go back to school and I doubted my own ability to take on the challenge of returning to school after so many years.The truth is I think I am better prepared and more capable than ever.I had forgotten maybe the most important lesson in life and that it is never to late to do the things you love and your passion for what you do will help you over come any obstacle.The old cliche you can be anything you want to be or do anything you want to do still applies but for awhile in my life I just took for granted that my my path was already chosen.We all need to remember that our life story can’t be written until we are dead and until then the content of that story is up to us.

GV: Dude, nice balcony!

California cabs take criticism often…but I think most would agree that a solid or premium (in the case of this episode) cab from California is really an iconic American summer wine. I might need to pull one or 2 out for the upcoming 4th of July here in the nation’s capital.

QOTD: My legs…I know that sounds odd, but I ran my 1st marathon last year and am still and avid runner…and when I stood between 3 handicapped people on the metro train last week (one of whom was an injured war veteran), I was reminded of how lucky I am to have legs that can carry me where I need to go.
