Unfortunately I don’t go to many wine bars in the Boston area. I do love going out and drinking wine, but it’s usually with a meal of some kind.

We have wine bar near Cleveland here in Ohio called “87 West” that has a similar wine delivery system called “enomatic”. Pretty slick.

QOTD: In addition to 87 West, we like the Royal Vine Wine Bar with its outside seating in the Cleveland suburb of North Royalton and we also like the Markert Square Wine Bar in the Ohio City area of downtown Cleveland.

    Hey Gary,

I’m a few episodes behind, so I apologize if you’ve answered this in the episodes I haven’t seen, but can you give an update on the Vayniac Cab?

    Thanks,

Great show! It’s fun to visit places like CLO and see new ways wine is being presented to consumers. My favorite wine bar is “The Purple Tooth” in Annapolis, Maryland. They have a great selection of different variatals by the glass and specialize in grilled cheese sandwiches as well as great cheese and fruit boards. Gary would love it!

I love Marugo in Shinjuku 3-Chome. They’re staff is really friendly, food is great (recommend the liver pate) and the place is always crowded with 30 somethings and younger kids. The place is really small but they pull it off well.

Great show. Love the technology and the ability to use the card to order what you want when you want it.

QOTD: Wine Sync here in southeast Michigan. Small with great prices and good variety. No food, but you are more than welcome to bring your own to share.

Clo looks too Start Ship Enterprise for me. I think it appears too uptight, with its hermetically sealed bottle cabinets. I’m as nerdy as anyone here, but I think places like this risk giving wine a bad name.

My favourite Melbourne (Australia) wine bar is Joe’s Shoe Shop in High Street Northcote. Excellent selection of wines, and they’ll order pizza from their neighbour Meine Leibe, one of the town’s best pizza joints.

That wine list is state of the art and where lists *should* be going. What I want when ordering an unfamiliar wine is info, info, info. Not really wild about the self-service part of the bar–once I leave my home I don’t really want to serve myself.

QOTD: don’t have a favorite, but if forced to I’d say Lee’s Wine Bar (Tallahassee)

Al Mascaron in Venice, Italy was wonderful. It functions as both a wine bar and restaurant. No wine list. If you see the bottle on the wall, they will pour it. My whole family had a great time there.

Gary..you have to post episode #686 on the right side of the page, along with other very memorable episodes, ie, the tasting out in the freezing rain/snow, and the “I eat everything from jam to dirt” episode. Episode #686 when you introduce the masses to little Misha is an instant classic.

That’s a great looking wine bar, will have to try it the next time I’m in NYC.

QOTD: Mmmm, don’t have a favorite at this time actually. A few places I like in SF, but nothing picked out in Seattle yet.
