NYPete…I remember you saying you hang out in Lake Bomoseen…the grapes actually came from a Vineyard in Benson just North of there!

I love that you’re honest about wines, even to close friends. I noticed this change over the course of your episodes and its a refreshing feature of your show. So many shows cater to something for the benefit of money. You cater to honesty and wine, which is the advertised essence of your show.

I have a Rolf Binder ‘Heinrich’ a while back – it was phenomenal for £10.. fruit bomb-ish, but unbelievably smooth and balanced. So much better (and less alcoholic) than anything I’ve had from Molly Dooker.

QOTD – There is a great store in London called The Sampler that has a similar set-up, but you can order in small/med/large glasses. Makes it a lot cheaper to sample some of the ‘wine icons’ when you can just buy a small sip.

Gary, loved the last few episodes. I really liked your take on the Shafer and it was great to see you in your own space. This CLO looks like a great place to have a drink and I like that it really offers up some variety. Keep up the good work.

Since I’ve never been to a wine bar, I’ll say the one at my house :) And I like the prices better also!

Hey – Cool place. Thanks for introducing us to it. One question – How do they prevent their wines from getting oxidized? What I mean is, how long ago was that bottle opened that you tried – 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week?

I was pretty impressed with Mario Batali’s Otto wine bar in NYC when I visited there recently. Great atmosphere, great staff, great munchies and great wine. What else can you ask for?

Sad but true, there are no great “wine bars” close by. Sad because I live in Napa Valley. I used to really enjoy Stave located in Napa but they shut down. Plenty of restaurants in the area that consider themselves wine savvy but no true “wine bars” If I had to choose one I would say Martini House

QOTD: Unfortunately I have to say I don’t have a favorite at the moment. That system was amazing. Was it completely custom or something other companies can purchase?

My favorite wine bar is 58 degrees & holding in Sacramento, CA. In the Handle District downtown with restaurant and retail store as well as storage lockers, a great place to try wines from around the world. Especially convenient as only blocks from workplace, 15 minutes from home!!

The Wine Room in Winter Park, just North of Orlando, FL. For me it was the original Enomatic bar three or four years ago and I couldn’t keep my jaw from dropping to the floor. To the day I still think it’s the nicest one I’ve been to.

    Gary,
Enjoyed the episode at the wine bar. Especially because I am in the process of opening one hear in Canton, Ohio. I like the idea of every so many episodes traveling to diff locations for the shows. Any love the ideas and it is so nice to see someone else get as excited as I do about wine and willing to share it without being over the top snobby. Thanks Adam
