Vary vary cool wine bar. Would like see one in LA. I don’t have a favorite wine bar, maybe my own house is the best I can think of right now.

They tried that sort of thing in Napa, but it didn’t last. Could have been the location though, not the concept that was to blame.

That table was great! I think its brilliant, gives people something to play with while they’re drinking.

QOTD: Willis Wine Bar in Santa Rosa, CA. Feels like an old Bordelo (not that I would know)

Winery Collective in San Francisco is the favorite de jour. 15-20 boutique California wineries poured at one shop in the city

VERY VERY cool, Gary! Thanks for sharing that place with us. I definitely want to check that place out next time I’m down in the city!

QOTD: 750ML in San Mateo has a similar set-up, but gives 1 oz pours so you can taste more wines than lock in one glass of opus @ 50.00.

G, you should’ve compared your notes to those at/in that cool table.

QOTD: In Fine Spirits in Chi. It’s a local joint w/a friendly staff and nice little selection that doesn’t break the bank. Plus, they have a store directly next to them of the same name that you can usually pick up a botlle of what you like from the bar. Also, LeCreperie in Chi. Maybe more of a restaurant, but their French is as solid as most wine bars and the food is pretty darn good. The ambience there would have you thinking you are in an old bistro in Paris.

That is the coolest table ever! We have a few of those tasting bars in Vegas but no visual screen-touch tables. Great episode GV.

Why does Clo offer such huge pours? Can you request just a taste?

The place reminds me of a pachinko parlor. Without servers, what is the point? Even Mickey D’s has servers. And clearly, they don’t pass the savings in labor costs to the consumer!

Superb review of the Binder, GV.

QOTD: Soif, here in Santa Cruz, California.

Gary it would of been so cool if you looked the wine info up on the bar and not the bottle!

How coooool! You even nerded it up high-tech style. The next time I’m in NY I’ll be sure to check out the Star Wars video winebar.

Sorry to hear the wine did not live up to the Vayniac’s recommendation. I didn’t see any Dominus?

Anyway, sitting out on the deck with a group of homies drinking the Villa Santa from a recent Portugal episode.

Cool episode but I agree it seems like they don’t give you enough for what your paying.

    Slick setup.
But why did you go back to the vending machine for label info when you had the interactive bar-table at your fingertips?

QOTD: I think CLO is my new favorite wine bar! I’ll have to check it out when I’m in NYC this weekend :)

I gotta say that place is a little gimmicky and is for tourists. I think theese kinds of high concept places wear thin quickly and the technology starts to look tatty quickly.
I did see some good wines though

Baron Bouge in the 12th arr in Paris, France
They are a winebar where you can actually buy a glass of wine for 2 bucks.
They don’t serve the high end stuff, but its handmade wine and decent.
they also have great oysters and slalami

    Very cool place!!!

QOTD:My favorite wine bar is in Vancouver Washington of all place. The Cinetopia theater, fine dining restaurant and 100 bottle automated wine bar. This theater has the best HD projectors in the Portland, Vancouver area, fine dining service inside a special living room theater, equipped with overstuffed leather chairs and ottomans. But the coolest thing is the wine bar,it is similar to The Clo bar in that you use a card to dispense your wine from an automated enclosed system. The difference is that they sell their wine by the glass, ounce or bottle(they hand serve these). This place is great, you can jump around tasting until you find what you want without buying a whole glass and then plant your ass in a big overstuffed chair, eat a killer dinner and watch a great movie on a super high def screen what could be better than that!

    @kraziegolf

Just seeing how LITTLE the amount of wine came out for the dollar tells me not to waste my time going there. Thanks Gary for showing this vid. I would have felt raped had I not seen it now. I understand the location costs, but give a guy a break…. you mean to tell me this place can’t pour in a “little” more???? PASS

Couldn’t agree with you more. Fruit bombs are too one dimensional and
    definetely not food friendly,
