So here is your answer from Germany ;)

My fav. “wine bar” is the Bar No. 10 in Giessen. Unfortunatley their wine list is not that “different”, but the Gin, Whiskey … selection is great!

    Cheers,
The big German guy from the Cruise!

What a cool place, I’m going to have to go check it out soon. There is a nice wine bar in Garden City NY called Novitá that has a dispensing system behind the bar. But right now my favorite is Terroir NYC. No fruit bombs to be found there!

Hey Gary, I’d like that same sensation (fruit-bomb mmm) for say $15. Something fun, new world style. Every wine I have had (and it’s only been 3-4) have been not great to my palate. Usually too vegetal. Any recommendation would be great, because searching can be frustrating and expensive!

Fun use of tech and the “kid in the candy store” credit card system is a great trick to encourage spending more then you meant to :)

As a person who as a general rule does not fall for the brand name trap, I agree with you 100% on the get the same experience at half the price issue you discussed. Not sure there is much they can do about it. They can either geek it up and please the niche but reduce sales or aim for the lowest common denominator (oak/fruit-bomb) and sell that much more. The age old business quandary, no?

QOTD: I don’t roll big enough to afford by the glass prices so no wine bars for me. $20 a bottle is my upper limit so 12 bones a glass makes my brain hurt :)

never went to a wine bar, I prefer enjoying at home with my family or sometimes divide a bottle with some homies.. maybe next time in the U.S. I’ll drop by some…

we’re expecting another cheese show, the first one was amazing! but if your father comes to tape with you, better bring extra cheese (and I mean, EXTRA cheese!!) Love you both!

    big ups from BRZ!!

GV, I liked the show. Seems like a cool place to go after a show in the city.

QOTD: City Cellar in Westbury, NY: The foods good and the wine is reasonable- They sell half price bottles on Mondays which brings the price down to about retail.

    Thanks that was really cool.

What a cool bar. I have seen similar projections in the mall with a game or something on the floor and kids jumping all over em.

It’d be really coll if there was more depth of info into the regions and histories of wines and vines.

The people there seemed very welcoming and into expanding people’s experience with wine.

Kind of strange to me that they don’t have people pouring, obviously when more glasses equals more $ they would benefit from the precise pours from a machine. I have not been in a wine bar with machines (yet) I guess I am behind the times.

I am also behind on a few shows from the last week or so. So it’s time to try another.

cool little show, bummer about the wine and at $19 I’d be pissed! This is why I almost never do wine bars or even wine at resaurants- the mark-ups piss me off! I’d much rather buy a bottle of something I like for 19 bones and cook for myself or get takeout.

    That being said…
Hotel Biron in SF is very cute.

Super-Fab wine bar! I can hardly wait to go next time I’m in NYC! However, what were the kiddy-noises in the background? Maybe some employee’s kids hanging out before opening-time?…

QOTD: Recently went to Cru in north-Dallas (Plano); very nice, good food, too.

    My favorite Wine Bar: http://www.yelp.com/biz/cioccolata-di-vino-berkeley

    Two reasons:

    A) They price from $4 to $60, that allows all friends to come and try something and enjoy.

    B) It’s right near campus, and being sumer all the girls are in super shorts. Wine is about the experience, and I dig the experience here…

I love the wine bar shows, pls do more. While I’m making requests, pls do another cheese show – Everett was fantastic!

Really cool place. If I were a little richer, it would be a great place to go. I can’t afford to do much buying at restaurants, though. I usually have inferior wines at 100% markup. So….

QOTD: I’ve never been to a wine bar. Maybe someday, when I’m feeling flush or on my birthday or something.

found out today my friend’s big brother is a vayniac with a sweet cellar. small world.

what happened to the CKC play? nerdy is fun but I can only daydream.

qotd – too poor for wine bars.
