i think what the heck kinda question is that? lol.
but falanghina, thanks Gary, looking forward to checking them out.
dont get me wrong, its nice to see you're shows on napa cabs and things like that. but i really love when you do shows on more obscure things. its great to be turned on to wines or wine areas i wasnt very familiar with before. definitely my fav shows of yours.
speaking of which, I'd love to see you do a charbono tasting.
  • Bill
Gary - Thanks so much for introducing me to this grape. Found a bottle of Terradora di Paolo 2007 Falanghina at my local wine store and, I'll be damned... Banana! Just a great, unique white. Like nothing I've ever had before.
  • Dan-o
GV - I like these shows when we are introduced to new wines. I have had several Italian whites like Greco due to your shows and I really liked them.

    QOTD1 - chicken - my wife's chicken soup
QOTD2 - apples - apple pie (made by my wife, even better)
  • Oenerous
Recently drank a 2006(?) Sorrentino Falanghina Pompeiano, had a similar taste experience; a truly unique play of tropical fruit (banana/guava), floral, and minerality...would love to try a fresh '08 Falanghina (preferably watching the sun set in Capri).

QOTD: Stuff an apple in a chicken, roast the bird, throw away the apple

QOTD: of a very memorable homemade meal after a day of apple-picking in Maryland...baked chicken and apples...sooooooooooooo gooooooooooood!!!!!

as far as the episode, i have to say I am SO GLAD you picked Falanghina to focus on. The first time I had it was in 2006 while I was studying abroad in Umbria, and we took a group trip down to la costa amalfitana. I had my first glass of Falanghina on Capri...and to this day it is one of my VERY FAVORITE white wines of all time, and definitely one of the tope italian whites I've yet had. Now when are you going to do an episode on Roero Arneia and Soave. Oh and probably my favorite white wine of all time was a Malvasia that I had in Ljubljana, that was indeed from Slovevia...honestly mind-blowing!!!
  • QOTD: 1. Chicken > George Foreman Grill
    2. Apple > Pig Roast
  • JenB
Who is this Didic guy? What a pompous ass! Crawl back under your rock, please!

Anyone who has watched the show on a regular basis will see that Gary's enthusiasm is genuine and unaffected. It's why we watch.

Thank you Gary for spending the time 5 days a week to share with the rest of us.

I'm always a few days behind since I can't watch these episodes daily, but they collect on my iPod and in my e-mail and I know I can view them whenever I get the chance. I just wanted to say that I, too, best like your traditional episodes - just you and three bottles of wine and all your great and amusing insight. I do enjoy the occasional guest, but like this format as the mainstay.

Ah geez. Because threatening eViolence is so effective... What're you going to do, use words on him? *sigh* Let it go bro. Your diatribe gives credence to someone's ignorance. Take the high road and let people like that dig their own graves. Take a chill pill and enjoy Gary's vibe. We're here to enjoy the wine.

Gary, keep up the good work!
  • SS Chris
    HEY DIDIC!!

You're an ignorant, racist douchebag.....do me a favor and send me an email (my email is available in the FORUM) so we can get together and discuss this personally. After I beat your stupid racist ass, I'll be good enough to pour some Vodka on you to help sterilize the wounds.
  • I enjoy these one wine episodes. Even if they aren't all great wines.

    QOTD 1: Pot Pie
    QOTD 2: Oranges
  • Such a good episode. Loved the behind the scenes. Those kind of vignettes are great for helping us understand YOUR world better!

    Chicken - fingers
    Apple- cider
  • Kittysafe
Couch wasn't much of a mystery. I'm pretty sure I saw it on Diggnation that exact week it went missing, no?
  • Will Gosling
QOTD: Chicken apple sausage. CostCo samples are tasty. ;-)
  • The chicken in the fridge reminds me of the raw chicken we used to feed our dogs. And apples make me think of Mr. Ed.
  • amm3rd
This could be my favorite WLTV episode ever, love the "witch hunt" in the kitchen. Reminds me of every office I have ever worked in. Cool culture at the Wine Lib.

Waldorff Salad has Chicken & Apples in it, that what comes to mind...AMM
  • QOTD:
Chicken - Raw chicken. Probably because I think of it a lot as a cooking ingredient, rather than think of it in terms of the final product.
Apples - "Back home". Grew up in an orchard town.
  • Laura B
Love seeing what else is happening at Wine Library! Especially a cameo from Vaynerchuck Senior - great hat!

Who buys all that chicken and just leaves it in the fridge??
  • stump
Pinot Grigio is a waste. Thank you for this episode.

    QOTD (I) = bock bock.

QOTD (II) = crispishness, and refreshingly.
  • Fun episode, I have some suggestions for episodes to come. These ideas came when watching this episode.

    1. Have a "behind the scenes of WL episode" (You may have done this because I've only been watching since april 2009) Maybe move to a different section of the back areas and try a wine, move to one place then try another wine.

    2. A "Get to know the staff" type episodes, where the guests on the show are staff members, see how they think the wines are and maybe get to know their story as to how they became part of WL.

    QOTD: Fried, Caramel
  • Ryan D
    QotD1: Parm!!!
    QotD2: Granny Smith!!!
  • A dumb Rhine king
QOTD: I think of the rubber chicken the scientist had in the Bedlam Theatre's production of The Burning Ones: Origin of the Flame. Apple reminds me of an excellent apple wine that I tasted at Woodland Hills vineyard/winery in Delano, MN.
  • Enjoyed the impromptu Chicken and apples scene cause we got to see the office area.

QOTD: chicken = coq au vin
apples = my fiancée.. she loves everything apples
  • J Crazy
    Michal J. Fox...and for apples it's "nasty".
  • Chris
Gary, lets get a tour episode! Always wanted to know what WL looks like. Do a couple employee who's who and there you go!
  • pawncop
As a lover of the unoaked, crisp white wines, I will try this wine if I can find it.

Q'sOTD - chicken, being from the South, FRIED, baby, FRIED.

Apples - A fan of Fuji and Gala and also of Granny Smith.
  • Adam J
That was awesome! The little tour had to have been one of my favorite WLTV moments ever! Funny to see AJ hanging out in the room doing work while the taping goes on. Great stuff.
QOTD: Gigi's chicken Panini in Rhinebeck, NY.
  • QOTD: That has to be one of the strangest qotd's ever asked. But, chicken salad with apples mixed in, along with a Taburno (or a China Grace Vineyard Chenin Blanc) on a 105 degree Southern California day....yeah, I can get into that.
  • Brian Morgan
Gary - Just saw the "Fathers Day" Thunder Show with your Dad - You have to do more shows with Dad - that Guy adds some contrast and I seriously loved it. No more "Bones" - Ha, Brian
  • I was really hoping that guy was going to get busted being the owner of the chicken and apples.

QOTD: I like chicken salad with a little bit of apple thrown in there. Good combo.
  • Brian Morgan
Perhaps my favorite Video Blog, AND I don't even like wine. Economic Trend : Gary Vee is Huge.
  • JayZee
Funny show, great WLTV moment. The wine sounded great, too!

QOTD: Chicken? I'd say Cordon Bleu because it is one of my favorite dishes Apple? I'd say cinnamon, which is great with apples.
  • Jayhitek
QOTD: Complete blank out.. I guess what jumped into my head would be chicken apple pie.. but that is just wrong.
  • QOTD1: Rotisserie Chicken. Simple, but the best way to prep.

    QOTD2: Hornsby's Apple Cider. Yummy.

Love the Nightline action GV - and a plotline worthy of a Charlie Chan mystery. Did we solve the conundrum?
  • Neil
    QOTD 1.) Chicken Saltimboca
QOTD 2.) Apple & Cinnamon Bread Pudding
  • Big Mac Attack
    Gary,

This is my first time posting, I am a new comer to WLTV and a fellow dirty jerseyian. I have been around for the last 50-60 episodes.

    QOTD
Chicken - Automatically I think of my fiance, who seems to eat chicken and nothing but chicken.

Apples - My father makes a fantastic baked apple in the fall with raisins and brown sugar. Combined with a nice pork chop it is the best.

I guess for me food and family just go together.

    Keep up the great shows.
  • Ray Ray
Dude, where have you been? Just what I needed in my wine tasting life to compare my pallet to someone as opinionated as Gary. Great show!
  • Bigsigar
    Great Show!

The behind the scenes investigation of the Chicken & Apple mystery ("Chapple-Gate")was great.

QOTD: Take apples (sliced or quartered) add cinnamon stick, quartered onion into microwavable safe bowl/measureing cup covered with water. Zap on high for 5 minutes. Stuff steeped apple/onion/cinnamon mixture into chicken cavity along with fresh sage, rosemary, and thyme. Pull skin away from chicken breast but leave on (this gets it crispy while it roasts) coat with canola oil, kosher salt and black pepper. Instead of a rack, place chicken on "veggie-rack" of whole celery and carrot laid out on roasting pan. Roast the chicken and the steeped apples, onions, etc, will steam from the inside out, imbueing the chicken with their aromatic goodness, and helping keep the chicken juicy. You can also put some chicken/vegetable stock in the bottom of the pan with the "veggie-rack" which will mix with the drippings, cooking and seasoning the veggies.

Cook up a starch of choice, pop a bottle of your favorite wine, and enjoy.

    Be safe all.

QOTD: Sasha in his hat earnestly trying to get to the bottom of the chicken and apple mystery. Stopping and questioning even his own son about the matter as you left the breakroom. A good example of the corporate "hands on" approach ownership sometimes uses in order to be involved st every level of operation. Even in a cameo role he steals the show. Peace.
