Now that was a guest that gets you. You guys danced well together even as he let you lead.

I’m a lurker and popping my head out for the first time as a commenter.

I have a confession Gary… After the first time watching your show I deleted the podcast subscription. But then it was like a wine that you hate after the first try, you find it calling you back for another swirl & sniffy sniff, and then after giving it a second shot you realize it’s growing on you more and more and now it’s one of your favorite wines. I was inexplicably drawn back and now I’m an avid watcher!

Too bad I live in KY and can’t order any of these wines!

Good guest. Nice to have someone on the show who watches often and likes the style of the show, and who actually cares about wine, even though it isn’t his special field. Not an all-time great show, but entertaining.

QOTD: A lurker we’ve never heard of.

Keep the Chenin Blanc coming! I just happened to be reading the Loire section of Kermit Lynch’s book which describes in mouth-watering detail some of the Vouvrays he encountered. Clearly Chenin Blanc needs more attention in the U.S. so that we can import a broader selection of wines made from it. How about an episode featuring Savennières?

QOTD: Me, with my new book _Smooshin’ It!_.

Since I came out of lurker status and even got the shout out for it, I guess I should keep commenting.

I used to think Gary was at times making stuff up. However, when you get a guest on like this and see a ‘check and balance’ happen – it removes all doubts. Gary, thanks for being honest with the good, bad, and sometimes ugly of the wine world.

Nice show GV, very nice guest!

I?m planning on planting some vegetables like Snow proposed, my brother already does that with great success! His tomato sauce, of homegrown tomatoes is awesome! And best of all, organic! (That?s a good thing when you know that worldwide, tomatoes are one of the most pesticide contaminated crop!)

QOTD: That?s gonna be Me! Gary is coming down here to open his Wine Library Brazil, and I am going to be his partner! 😉 Anytime GV!!

    Best wishes,

decided to come back and comment for KS.

we grow as much seasonal stuff as possible here if SoFla, our planting calender is totally non-reflectant of the rest of the country. i mean tomatoes go in in mid sept. so our main season runs from fall thru winter, and then some other things in the spring, but not much through the summer, oppressive heat and recent lack of substantial rain does not help.

mangoes, papaya, coconuts, and avocados are abundant every single year, so you find your diet full of those things as they come to harvest. nothing bad there. i havent paid for a single one of those items in 10 years.

again, great guest, and a fine show.

  • Gary! You asked for the lurkers to come out? Well, here comes everybody! Gary, I’m a huge beer geek, and i find wine snobs that shun beer to be frustrating. But I realized the reverse was also true, which is why i took something you did to heart: In Your beer episode “Beer Library TV with a Pats fan?”, You compared an double IPA flavor profile with a reisling and petite bordeaux. That simple comparison encouraged me to those two in particular, but using beer profiling as a a gateway. Thanks! Try it more often! This method could help sway more beer drinkers towards wine!

You said it yourself: “more collaboration”. More beer /wine gateway shows!

PS: a chef friend suggested that because beer is more like a meal than wine is, ity should be considered a component of the meal and is best paired with smaller portions, finger and snack foods. (Stouts with oysters on the half-shell instead of bouillabaisse, etc.) After much experimentation, I now agree with her. Something to consider.

    Great Show Gary,

Love having the foodies over, gives it another dimension. Plus, Keith didn’t even flinch about the sausage thing.

QOTD: The first Crush It! millionaire will be a child raised by wolves who finds the book at an abandoned campsite and then goes on to own an empire of “lodge” type restaurants that serve only wild game.

5 episodes a week is just no enough,
have you though about expanding it to 2 a day and 1 on saurday and 1 on sunday,
you’d make me a happy man
    think about it.

  • A good word for this show would be delightful. The pizza-dork needs to watch this show to learn how to plug, contribute and harmonize with the environment. I like the chill and friendly nature of this episode.

Great guest! I agree with other posters who’ve requested more chefs as guests. Keith picked up a lot more of the scents and flavors than most of the guests do.

Enjoyed the episode. Not the music video so much. That bloodhound gang video was something freaky.
