REALLY behind with WLTV so just watched a few on recent train journeys on my ipod (I live in the UK – I know you lot think it’s wierd to use the train). I LOVED this double episode. Great pace, informative and above all entertaining. Thank you
Q: the label’s OK but it wouldn’t have drawn my interest to the wine (with no prior knowledge).

this was the most fun episode ever!

qotd: I’ll go along with a previous comment that the scribble looks great but the head shape in there ruins it. do a quick redesign and just use the abstract element! ( that from a graphic designer!)

Awesome episode and fantastic guest. I will be seeking out these wines for sure! I loved the label Gary, what are you talking about? Great interview and lots of laughs!

    Great, great ep.

QOTD: The label is great! Especially after hearing the back story.

Wow. One of my favorite shows Gary and I have seen quite a few. You two really had a good dynamic and there was never a dull moment. FILLED with content!

QOTD: Great idea, but stick to what you are good at Nick. ;-)

Great show, but I have to agree with Gary on the label… not something I would reach for on the shelf

    amazing, funny, intelligent.. yeah, great.
qotd:label isn’t ugly but not great either

QOTD: Meh on the label, but hope you continue to make fantastic wines and get all your kids through college! Cheers!

GREAT GREAT GREEAAAAT show!! Never a dull moment. I aspire to a story similar to Nick’s someday.

QOTD: the label is underwhelming to me…lacks interest and focus…like Gary said the idea is great and quite endearing, but the execution falls flat…does seem a bit on the cheaper side…hmmm…maybe incorporating the two elements, but with a modern twist…like blowing up the profile of her face so that all you see in the forehead, nose and mouth…then either punchin up the color so it catches the eye or keeping it all to metallics or classic colors, with a minimalist, modern appeal…just a thought

I like the label. It has a purity to it that correlates to the varietal itself. I get it. I can’t wait to try the wine now.

I only recently found your site. Of the few I’ve watched this was my favorite. The chemistry between you two was entertaining.

Nick, I love the label. If I ever saw a bottle I’d probably try it just because of the label. That’s how my wife buys wine for me and she rarely misses. How crazy is that?

Great guest. Felt like the show “flew by” (which is a good thing). Will be on the lookout for these wines.

QOTD: Nice idea for the label but not an attention grabber.

did you just say jessica biel is “massively structured and has a great back”?

    awesome.

I love the idea behind the label. It would not make me not buy the wine. I’m interested to try some of these wines…AMM

    Nick…keep supporting that habit!
Are you kidding us…just a box and a label?
From the trellises to the sprayers, to the pumps and the tanks, you should be staring your own program in applied viticulture and vinification engineering. If I could afford the tuition I’d certainly enroll.
Great episode, thanks to the both of you for having so much fun in front of us.

QOTD: Hey it was worth a try…and if I know what is inside is good, the label only has marginal impact. Besides it was not a fuzzy animal play, so that’s fine with me. Maybe let your daughter take a crack at it next vintage if you have any question.

Great episode Gary. What made it for me was that Nick was able to match your personality and also give some massively insightful information and analysis.

Its important to remember though that not all your guests are able to hold their own like Nick was and its your job to match your interviewing to their style and draw them out.

QOTD – when you hear the story behind the label it looks great.

    Kittysafe

    Brilliant episode,

QOTD: I like the label, it feels honest.

  19. September 15, 2009

    Jim Wilkerson

Top 10 guest. (Wish you had opened the Forefathers Cab at the end … spontaneity is one of the best parts of the show.)

QOTD: Sorry, Nick – the label’s no good. Reminds me of the old Gary Farrell labels from the 90s, which looked dated back then. Time to upgrade.

    Fortified

    Dude,

You wore out your guest. He had to go to the hotel and take a nap. Great guest, but did not hear him over your ramblings. Big supporter, but sometimes……

QOTD: The Label looks too much like half of an Opus to be taken seriously. Keep making good wines.

    good show & guest.
qotd – great idea but label looks cheap. wouldn’t buy it. just doesn’t grab the eye or appeal.

  22. September 14, 2009

    ben from boston

    best guest of all times.

qotd- I have to agree with gary that it looks kinda cheap. Maybe its the purple and gold color combo but the execution is just off, sorry broheim. Ss GV likes to say though, you’re not drinking the label.

  23. September 14, 2009

    Kathy Hughes

QOTD: Have to agree with Gary on the label design. Great idea, poor execution. It gives off a negative vibe rather than the innocence of a youthful artist….needs to be redone…..Good luck, Naples Kathy aka Champagne Lady/who’s also enjoying cavas and proseccos lately …..p.s. Great show !

    J Crazy

can’t remember an episode where I laughed so much: great stuff!

QOTD: Meh. I could take it or leave it.

Very, very nice episode. Loved the guest.
    Informing and funny. Great.

    QOTD. I don’t like it, I don’t dislike it.
