The fine folks from Kiona are here! Awesome. Just a shout out to all of the Vayniacs out there... get on-line.... find Kiona... and get some of their lemburger (killer pizza and burger juice - sort of a junior zinfandel) and try some of their 2003 Estate Reserve cabernet sauvignon! Real Red Mountain fruit, estate grown (and they sell fruit to LOTS of the top wineries in the state), and for $30 bones, it is a great deal.

I had the opportunity to visit Red Mountain and we made a "special" trip to Blackwood Canyon.
This place is a "must see" for anyone wine geek. Any of the way out there comments are not overstated or embellished. Mike Moore is equal parts genius, lunatic and binge drinking frat boy. Driving up to the winery is a cross between the set for Road Warrior and Sanford & Son. The grounds are strewn with 100's of barrels that are full of wine and apparently aging until they are fit to drink.
When you walk into the door of the winery it appears that the contents of 1000 junk drawers have been ransacked and their contents taken for decor. Mike's persona can be described as some kind of cosmic link to Bill Murray's (Carl Spackler) character in Caddy Shack.
If you view your visit as theater and accept the fact that you may be here for 3-4 hours I can guarantee that you will not forget this visit. The only thing that made our 3 hour tour even more surreal is that Mike linked up the Gary V. review of these wines and showed us them on his laptop......INCREDIBLE!

Great episode. I like seeing some older wines on the show every once in a while.

QOTD: There was a wine from Oliver Winery in Bloomington IN produced in the early 90's called Trio. This wine was literally made by mixing 3 different grapes together that were left at the end of the harvest. It turned out to be their best wine which they haven't been able to reproduce. It was unbelievable and it is definitely missed.
