For a good QPR, check out the Bruno Porro Dolcetto Di Dogliani. great concentration, good acidity and mouth-coating chalky tannins. Highly recommended for about $10 bones. Brings similar extraction and terroir as some of the single vineyard Barbera D'Alba's but at half the price.

QOTD - 04 Le Macchiole Rosso... Awesome QPR!! (When on sale. just picked up recently for $19 bones)

2001 Bruno Rocca Rabaja Barbaresco. Even though it is still young, this wine just blew me away with the amazing red fruit and licorice. It was very rich without being a black CA fruit bomb.
Having said that, I'm not always in the mood for wine this rich and expensive. Just to piss off any Chianti haters I'll add the 2001 Vignamaggio Chianti Mona Lisa Riserva - this is just now in its prime. Stunning and huge chianti - absolutely Brunello like. In fact, I rate this much higher than Casanova di Neri's '99 Ceratalto. I'm just saying.

QOTD: Has to be brunellos, but I have had many excellent italian wines...

I thought your comment on cellaring $15 wines was interesting, and WRONG (ha, just getting your attention). For those of us living on the cheap(er) side, my favorite values are those sort of wines that I can put away for 3 years and suddenly I have fantastic wines I paid less than $20 for...
