My favorite Brunello is from Uccelliera. My wife and I were able to spend an afternoon with the owner, Andrea Cortonesi in 2004 and he was a great host. Just tried a bottle of the 2004 Brunello and it was great. He also makes a Rosso and a Sangieovese/Cab/Merlot blend called Rapace.

Great show!

I was never a red wine drinker until I was recently introduced to a bottle of 2004 Il Piggione Brunello at a famous NYC steak house. This started me on a 3 month spending spree in an effort to try every brunello I could get my hands on and more importantly, find one that was a little cheaper that I could stock up on.

So far the Piggione is still the best I have found but I have gone back to stock up on the 04 Fanti (around $50) and the 04 San Filipo ($40). Both provide a silky hint of chocolate that keeps you coming back for more.

I've never thought twice about sharing a bottle of wine with friends but I always seem to hesitate to open these because I want to keep them all to myself.
