Did not get to acquire these wines but will do so soon and rewatch this episode.

Was working all weekend, have been crazy busy in our ER, so no wine for me.

QOTD: I just got around to watching this episode today, so sorry about the Jets, but I was drinking a LAN Rioja Reserva. Great with food. Not so good by itself.

QOTD: Went to a great new wine bar in DC called Proof. Tried a good variety of 2oz and 6oz pours. They had a killer Sancerre with a looooooooooong finish for days and I enjoyed the Carignan quite a bit too, good balance.

    A dumb Rhine king

Couldn’t find these guys locally :(

QOTD: I was drinking Geyser Peak’s 2005 Cab with a fantastic meal.

QOTD – a little late, so I already know the Bills pulled out a heartbreaker in OT. Didn’t drink wine this weekend – it was cold and rainy down in DC so I was sipping scotch to warm my bones. Port Charlotte PC 6 to be precise.

I drank (past tense because I’m late as usual) something very good: Stonehedge Reserva Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

QOTD – had a Malbec from Argentina that was in a 1 liter tetrapack (aka, a boxed wine) called Yellow + Blue. (A green/environmental play). Not the best thing ever, but not too bad…

QOTD: I just started working for Page Springs Cellars, so this weekend I’ll be drinking Arizona Syrah! YEAH!
Hopefully I can make it down to Tempe for the book signing!

QOTD: Working Sat night and Sunday but I think on Fri night I’ll have a Rioja Baron De Ley 2003 – it’s been sitting in the racks for a while now, needs to go!

First, found your site over the last few days, I think I’ve watched a scary amount sofar, your show is awesome. I love the bubbles episodes, I need more about champagne, and not about Legras, come on Gary.

I totally agree that some oak can be interesting, but the oak monster is far too prevalent.

QOTD: dropped some nz pinot and oregon pinot in a comparo inspired by the show, both were pretty disappointing, but I’m going to keep tasting.

    QOTD: 2007 Justin Cab

    Interesting chards for a change.

QOTD: Tough question since I didn’t watch the Bills beat the Jets. Last night we had our neighbors over for dinner. We started with a bottle of 1998 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis that I didn’t think would even be drinkable but it has held up remarkably well over the eleven years. Really nice wine. Then we had a 1994 Gaja Barolo Sperss which was wonderful with the veal involitini. Good stuff. I gave it 91 points.

Sorry about your Jets. Be patient with Sanchez – it will take some time.

Gary, was pretty high on Sanchez the first three games….but the last three….his QB rating yesterday had to be one of the worst in NFL history..like minus 250…..good thing the wine was better than the game, a 2003 Chianti Classico (great) and a 2006 Byron Chard (awesome)…time to let #11 play…….

6 interceptions! Damn! I totally understand if you need to take the day off.

P.S. What was with that field goal fake! My sister can throw better than that.

    How those jets do yesterday…..let me see….L L L

Pats in a nail biter……what was that score again, 59-0

Drank an 04 Mondavi Reserve while watching the massacre, it was yummy!

GV: Sorry about your Jets! 5 INT’s?!?! Ouch. Could be a Titan fan, so it could be worse. Or like me, a Lion fan.

QOTD: Went with the Terraces from Chateau Pesquie. Very nice!

I drank a Casa Larga vineyards Tre Blanc, during the great Buffalo Bills smackdown at the meadowlands. Go Bills!

I was drinking some nice Ironstone Chard….but it didn’t help my hapless Toronto Maple Leafs either. I feel your pain bro!

    QOTD: 2 cabs, a merlot, a rhone, a pinot and a riesling

i went to some friends house for dinner and i brought a bottle from dom st nicolas in fief vendieves. technically in the loire but south of nante along the coast. 2002, Reflets, 1/2 pinot and 1/2 cab franc. kinda strange blend for me but was good with our food. came off as a good bottle of beaujolais cru. these guys are big on the biodynamics and are making some tasty wines.
i was there over the summer and picked up a few bottles. good times

I had a Costco/Kirkland Napa Cab which is really good, a Kirkland Pino which was pretty good, and a Giordano super Tuscan which tasted terrible compared to the 05.

Sorry about the Jets GV. Hope you don’t have a Grossman on your hands with Sanchez but only time will tell. The Bears managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory which is becoming common but annoying. How the hell can you have 12 men on the field and give Atlanta a first down and subsequent touchdown. Unbelieveable, A running back that has only fumbled twice in 460 carries fumbles twice in the same series in succession and turns it over the second time on the Falcons 1 yard line. A veteran lineman jumps offside on what should have been the tying drive and takes us out of the red zone. WTF? So sad it is funny.

Oh yeah the Jets lost in OT.

Elyse Il Ingenue 2006 and 1994 View Telegraphe. Also had a Montepulciano from a local restaurant that was quite good but was a replacement for a Bracco so I didn’t really fond out what it was until dinner was finished. I drank both of these along with GV as did my wife. We liked the Calera though we hadn’t had this particular vineyard designation from them. We didn’t like the Healdsburg at all. Let them sit for 6 hours and friends of ours still liked the Calera better.
