Gary, started watching about 1 month ago and I’ve been going back month by month to view the old episodes. Ep 153 is phenomenal! I’ve tried a similar tasting session with the massive deluxe pack of jelly belly jelly beans but it’s obviously not as legit as what you did. I’m living in Australia (from Boston) and WLTV is changing my wine-drinking and food-eating world.

QOTD: I always go with the screwdriver, never fails.

Wow, everyone really seems to be hating. Although this may only be my second or third posting, I’ve been with the show for at least 2 years. I understand the hustle and wish you the best of luck. I personally love the “on the road” shows (though that tool interrupted the episode seemed like a pyramid scam pusher). Keep up the fun episodes, especially the fast food/cereal pairing ones.
QOTD: It was a really bad day, and I was waiting to get on a crappy cross country flight. I ordered a $5 glass of Callia Pinot Gri and quickly consumed it with a piece of Sparro’s Cheese pizza. Sometimes greasy pizza and an acidic glass of wine is exactly what you need.

  • LMAO! Gary, the interruption on this episode was classic…and handled with class. Don’t have a best wine story (cause wine in airports and planes usually suck). But i’ve got one with scotch. First class from Pittsburgh to San Francisco. Old dude sits down next to me and says “hey lady, me and the kid here are gonna have some scotch”. Huh??? Didn’t know the dude from Adam. Turns out a really fun guy. Not being a scotch drinker, I was not used to its effects and he just kept ordering. When I asked what he did for a living – “ahhh, I just play golf these days”. After 4+ hour flight, we land and i’m shit faced. Had to take a cab to my hotel. I open the Sports Illustrated the next morning, and there he is – Tom Wargo, golf pro on the senior tour, with his hands in the air after winning the Motorola open. Quite the character.

  • Funny episode… 😉

Best ever wine drinking experience as Lafite Rothschild 1983

After 3½ hours in the bottle, which I had served a customer while I was working as a waiter. Having decantered this wine at the table, a little rest was left in the bottle to leave the sediment in the bottle. Later I was fortunate enough to get to taste a little sip of this wine. – and WHAT af wine.

This extreme “grapejuice” knocked my socks of…. and I have been “infected” by the wine-interest ever since.

I am thanking the wine maker at Lafite every day – since being a consious wine drinker has given me a number of great experiences since…..

Little secret tip of the day – try Rhone 2007 (yeah right – how secret is that tip 😉

Other than that – thanks Gary for keeping up the good work.

  • Awesome episode. Chicken McNuggets are addictive.

My best drinking experience in an airport bar was last January at a Chili’s in PIT when I was flying to Montreal for my first week on a new job for training with a co-worker who was also going. The Steelers were starting the conference final against Baltimore while we were flying. We were pissed we had to leave the bar and miss the first half as it started right as we were leaving.

After landing in Montreal, we had our French Canadian cabbie race to our hotel downtown to watch it in the bar there. That was fun, as they don’t believe in plowing anything up there.

    I am now unemployed. FAIL.

Can’t remember where I was, but on my way home from Somewheresville, first leg of the flight was long and tiring, and on my layover went to a Wolfgang Puck Cafe in the terminal (might have been Atlanta). Good salad there, but the chard I downed with it was just what the doctor ordered. Doesn’t really matter that I can’t remember which chard, just that it relaxed me enough to think about going home to my husband, my sanctuary, my cocoon. It was the perfect attitude adjuster.

I’ve often said that chardonnay can cure a lot.

I had a glass of sparkling wine on a flight from San Francisco to Savannah, I don’t remember if it was good but it was exciting because I was old enough to get it and it was my first time on a plane alone!

Love the NIN in the background! Thanks for cutting the nice doctor dude off.

QOTD: I try to avoid airport wines and stick to beer. Best experience though was probably in JFK after missing a flight and being stuck for 5 hours. Just chilled, surfed the internet and drank wine. Don’t even remember what it was, just very relaxing and that’s what is all about right Mott?

I carry 2006 Little Boomey Shiraz on my happy hour menu at Tasca Wine Bar in Los Angeles! Decent value at close-out price from my distributor. GREAT TO SEE YOU ON THE BOOK TOUR WHEN YOU WERE AT WORLD MARKET IN LA, BRO!!

QOTD: Last year, Atlanta, Flying back to LA from RI with a stopover, glass of Luis Martini Cab (the best they had for the price…just to pass the time before my next flight), me a girl waiting for a flight as well, bought her a glass of wine, talked for 45 min, and went our separate ways… ah- the connections that we make that may never be revisited again… or will they?

I think the good doctor was either drunk or a politician…or both. That would explain why, when he saw the camera, he couldn’t help himeself from droning on, and on, and on even though the conversation was already over.
QOTD: I finally had enough miles to get the automatic upgrade on Continental and took full advantage of the free booze in 1st class on the way home from a business trip.

Gary – did you get back to the doctor after the show? He seemed BORING. 🙂 You were a gentleman with him. Did I mention he was boring?

QOTD: For all the wine I drink, I’ve never had wine on an airplane or in an airport. I need to be in top form should something go down and I’d need to be called on to assist in ejecting passengers, a water landing or something similar.

Seriously, best one yet! Love the randomness of the airport, guest, and chicken nuggets!
QOTD: Having to be paged by name in Laguardia Airport with four of my friends to report to the departure gate(from the bar) because we were still having so much fun we didn’t want to leave!
    BTW-Happy belated bday GV!
