line of the day – ‘Is it like, communism, for you in your mind’

Not the greatest chemistry between GV and the guest but that was mainly down to the slow, deliberate way the guest answered many of the questions. What he did do well, however, was to prize some quite personal reflections from Gary, and that doesn’t happen too often

  • Great episode from a tag-team effort of my two favorite blogs…
QOTD- i probably won’t be having wine for Turkey dinner, but later in the evening I’ll just grab a brown-bag-sheathed bottle from my rack and see where the night goes from there.
Gotta say that for new world Chenin blanc, a solid wine with a great price tag is the L’Ecole 41 Chenin blanc from Walla Walla…don’t know if they sell that here on the east coast, but it’s worth checking out.

qotd: i think thats 3 times now where we’re asked about the wine were having this thanksgiving. but for the 2nd part, no I’m using 750ml bottles.

Althhough Gary, it would be cool to see you put one of those 620ml wines on the show bottled in clavelins.

Great episode with two guys getting their nerd on.

GV…review the episode a few times and try a watch yourself to see how you react when asking questions. I think it may help with your interviewing skills.

Thanks for pumping out the shows!

I follow Dr. Vino’s wine blog, so it was fun to see him in person. Nice guy.
QOTD: probably the white burgandy. We last had a magnum for a party of about 12 people. Our Thanksgiving dinner will be too small.

I’ve been waiting for an episode like this for a year and it totally lived up to expectations. Great job.

  • Really love this guy, although he could use a little smidge of a evil streak in him to allow him to pour out a bottle of wine if it deserves it. (all the best superheroes have that little character flaw by the way)

QOTD: Don’t know exactly, gonna try and find a good Italian white. But I’m definately gonna be sucking down some Vernors.

Thanks for hitting a few of my new favorites, GV! Big fan of the Vouvray (la Lanterne being a favorite site), a whore for the MSR Riesling, and have just recently been getting more into the Cru Beaujolais. I need to learn more about them. QOTD – Le Clos de Caveau Charmin Brillant Vacqueyras 06…no big format, just a couple 750s…daddy like Grenache with Turkey…

That episode felt long after all the short ones recently!

QOTD: Not sure yet, put I’m thinking either a Gigondas or Crozes Hermitage. Although my girlfriend’s sisters like white so I might bring something from Alsace.

QOTD: Half of my family are religious teetotalers, and guess who I’m spending Thanksgiving with? So no wine at all this Thanksgiving. 🙁

  • QOTD: gallon jug from Food Lion (having in-laws over, so what the hey) Magnum would not be big enough, and quality wine would be a waste on them.

    After-wards, I will seek a port, a tawny port.

At first, I wasn’t sure what this guest was bringing to the table, and GV was doing a little bit of interrupting. Eventually, things worked out and this was a fun show – nice job. GV – don’t forget all those edited interview shows are also pre-screened…

QOTD – I have no idea, uncle Jim picks the wines…

Great, great show and Dr. Vino was an excellent guest. I know some may say that he lacked charisma, but his passion and knowledge came through on the show and I thought it all worked pretty well. As for scoring, I still like that benchmark, but I do understand all the problems that scoring brings to the table.

QOTD: Still not sure about what wine I’m bringing on Thanksgiving. Perhaps a red Rhone like a CDP. Perhaps a Syrah. We will only have five people, and four of us love wine, so it will be an easy crowd to please.
