I love the blind shows. I’m looking forward to these two weeks on the show. Too bad the wines didn’t do it for you, but sometimes that happens. I’m interested to see how the viogniers go. I like that varietal, and would love to find a good QPR there.

QOTD: Isabelle and Chester, of course, who are my twins. Signed on for three kids, got four. That’s fine by me. They are, in fact, very different, and I certainly hope they wouldn’t both piss you off, Gary! At six years old, they can have their hair-pulling moments, but I think you’d like ‘em. Both great kids.

Just got back into regular viewing again and I’m pumped about the blind head to head marathon. I’m catching up on the archives as well and wanted to say you’ve had some epic guests in the last month or so.

QOTD: Parents of twins need to learn at what age to stop dressing their kids alike.

I have to disagree with Gary about California Sauvignon Blanc’s – they are maybe the only California wines that (at least right now) I am really liking

Love the honesty of this show. Never in doubt as to whether Gary is scoring a wine from his heart. Lookin’ forward to the rest of the blind tastings!

Twins: Threesome. just being honest too.

What is that noise in the background? Sounds like an old school IBM typewriter. Or a camera. Is someone taking pics?
QOTD: Hefner’s girlfriends. That’s what jumped into my head first. It’s a shame too, because my wife is a twin and she didn’t jump into my head until 3rd or 4th.
#2 was probably the Barbie Twins from the 80′s because I heard them recently on Howard Stern.

Episodes where there are bombs are just as valuable as episodes where there are shining stars! Can’t believe they would put a $25 price tag on the second one. B/C of the episode I would probably avoid all Sancerre, since I’ve never had them this is the only exposure.

When you say twins, I say …(edited, edited, edited) and that was before we even made it to the car! LOL – just kidding – first thing was sexy twins, though.

Good episode and appreciate the information. Huge fan of the New Zealand style Sauvignon Blanc’s. Have tried several French Sancerre’s but for my palate have found them lacking.

    Hello !

Well, I am becoming a fan of your tastings ! Funny enough, you have such a different way than mine to connect with wine and still, very close taste !!

One thing about this blind test. I am from France and I go to Sancerre every year for tasting (among them, I tasted Boulay). Clearly, 2007 is a very, very acid and mineral vintage and Boulay is the kind of winemaker who in addition produces wine to be drank in… 15 to 20 years. I am not surprised at all that you did not like the wine, I do believe they need a minium of 5 years to start openning. I remember very well that the 2007 by François Cotat (Cotat and Boulay have are very close in the way to make wine and on the same terroir) were almost impossible to taste when I went there in 2008. After one year, the evolution is stunning… but they remain still very tight wines . However, I can bet that in 10 years, those Sancerre will rock you ! Probably a 90+.

If we could meet, I could make you taste for instance 1995, 1997 or even 2000… they are… well… heavenly !
