I gotta pick me up some of that last one! I love aggressive whites.

Wait, that didn’t come out right…

I most impressed that you are in Paris holding a tasting in colloquial English with the audience picking up most of what you are saying. I would venture to guess that a similar tasting held in Boston in French would not have the same level of understanding.

Fun show, and very informative. Nice job.

It would have been nice to have 3 microphones, and a camera that panned the audience to show the feedback from the crowd.

I loved the guests. I’m very glad to know about more wine blogs and communities to check out.

I totally agree that Chenin Blanc is HIGHLY underrated. There is an excellent Savennieres (Clos de Serrant) as part of the Chairman’s Selection program in Pennsylvania (where the govt-run PLCB buys out cellars at very cheap wholesale prices), and when I tried to ask about it, the salesman couldn’t comprehend that I, a 22 year old female, even knew what a Savennieres was.

Kenny: Don’t let Gary bully you. Ohio is not the opposite of Paris and I’m sure there was minerality on that nose.
Phil: Don’t let Gary suck up to you because you’re Parisian. But you do seem to have an excellent palate.
    Gary: Just kidding, great show.

Has anyone seen this video about wine blogs in age of twitter? http://vimeo.com/8148416
Gary, what is this all about?

Hey, how about a chenin blanc episode! You could do one from Limoux in addition to some South African and Loire

It’s nice to have a tasting of interesting white wines. So much white wine tastes similar and not very exciting.

Wow ! Sure is great to see this tasting go online !
I had a fantastic time filming this with Gary… He is a real professional and truly a gentleman…
Concerning the comment about the women vintners :
The Chablis was made by Athénaïs de Béru, the Riesling by Mélanie Pfister and the Savennières by Évelyne de Pontbriand… A lot of info is available on their respective websites…

Thank you to everyone for commenting… Can’t wait to read the comments on part II !

    All the best from Paris,

    Phil

I guess I will being the extreme minority here. This show didn’t do it for me. I was bored. Oh well; onward and upward.

So I’ve been a lurker on the videos while not so much on cinderella wines, I figured that today was the best time to post since coming across a picture and happen to have paused at a certain moment.

    Hey GEEVEE,

So dern busy with the holidays and work that I don’t even have time to watch this episode right now. (I’ll catch it up later!)

But I did find a few spare seconds to log on to my WL account to take advantage of the super deal on the 2005 Edetaria via Edetana and–while I was at it–couldn’t resist any longer the everyday great deal you have on the 2006 Roco Pinot Noir. (The 2005 Roco is some sweet juice, so I’m really looking forward to trying the 2006.)

It’s so great knowing that, if I buy from Wine Library, the only other place I’m likely ever to find a better price is on Wine Library. The only real competition to Wine Library is Wine Library!

Anyway, my main reason for this little note is not to make a free commmercial for Wine Library, but to wish you and yours the Merriest Christmas and lots of love and joy in the New Year! Take care of the ones who love you, and let them take care of you.

And thanks for Bringing the Thunder All Year ‘Round!

P.S. (It must really suck eggs to be stuck in Paris this time of year! I feel soooo sorry for you!)

    hey Gary;
    great great episode!

    suggestion:

decant more white wines!! you would love them even more!

also wines at “room” temp; i.e. including white wines (at 56-60 degrees) are at the appropriate temp for tasting and enjoyment–nothing is hidden and grading is more accurate.

    he gary,

i saw a piece in a respected publication recently(cant remember which one) about drinking red wine chilled at between 55 adn 65 degrees and the argument was that it actually improves the taste of the wine (for some varietals), not masks it. any thoughts?

Gary – I’ve become a HUGE Chenin Blanc fan over the last few months. I’ve been drinking a lot of Vouvray but I have not tried a Savennieres yet. I definitely would like to try one soon.

Really enjoyed this episode and excited to watch Part Deux :)

I haven’t had too much chenin blanc – mostly Vouvreys. This last wine sounds very intriguing.
