Mott comes out of his shell bigtime in this episode and his ‘link it up’ move at 11.40 is awesome

QOTD – once a week blind would be EPIC! Every day for a year… meh…

And please get some more Canadian wines on (if you can). We really do have some stellar juice up here outside of icewine. Tell you what… fly into YYC and we’ll head drive out to BC… I’ll buy the gas you buy the wine?

    1. Nerd it up.

    2. One to two blind tastings a week (double blind if you want)

    3. Guests are still good to mix it up

    4. Incorporate cork’d. . . maybe taste some of the more reviewed wines on cork’d to see how we match up to your palate if we have reviewed a wine (“shout-outs” to those cork’d members are always good).

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

As promised in my last comment on this ep, I tasted the Vayniac today– I’m happy I watched the episode because I was going to lay it down for a while. I too was pleasantly surprised at how approachable it is right now, love the blackcurrant, the level of acidity is just right, the alcohol is well integrated, great cherries on the nose, some vanilla but not too much (like just the right amount of makeup on a beautiful woman). I was also worried it might be over the top (this coming from someone who thought the Meadowlark Cellars reco you made a while back was a bit too “slutty” for my palate), nice job delivering the goods for both the old world and new world fans! Kudos man!!

Just got my case of Vayniac Cab this week. I’ll probably try one this weekend some time.

As for the show, keep variety – it is the spice of life. So don’t go blind all the time, although I enjoy the blind tastings. Don’t have guests all the time, but I do love a lot of the guests. Don’t just do value shows, although I enjoy value. Basically, a mix of everything is what works so why change it? I would request that you bring back the laid back Friday shows, though. And answer questions like you used to do.

Great to see that you are still doing the show with so much enthusiasm. Best regards from Germany!

I love the idea of going blind the whole year. That would make the scoring more interessting. Oh and I would like to see more german Rieslings on the show. That would be awsome.

Definitely on board with the once a week blind crowd. Would love to see you incorporate Mott on some of those and see how your palettes compare with published reviews (Corkd and/or the “experts”). Guests are fun, but old school WLTV style with the amped up passion is where it’s at. And once a month laid back Fridays would be fun too.

I would enjoy more double blind tasting episodes, but I believe it would be a mistake to not
have guests on WLTV in 2010. http://www.winelx.com

hi gary–blind the whole year is gutsy–i love it! perhaps do a full blind month. please focus on 06 bordeaux, 07 rhone, 05 barolo. thanks!

What a boring label design 😛

    Gary, another great episode.

QOTD: WLTV should focus more on ripping a part a region. So let's say if you want to do Niagara riesling you should have rieslings from each sub appellation of Niagara and compare them and talk about what makes a good riesling or what makes a bad riesling, which sections of a given region are good for making riesling and why. I used a Canadian example because I am proud of our Amazing Juice but this can be done for any region. Give it a whirl Gary and see how it feels … plllleeaaase?
