Don't know a lot about St Veran wines! How about some visual aids so we can better understand where these wines are from?

QOTD: How about enjoying a great meal with a blind wine tasting with my buddies in a fantastic venue?

  • ben from boston

qotd – can't think of anything recent, this is not good.

you've been on a thunder bringin roll though.

I’m a big Colts fan (since they moved to Indy) living in Chicago. Made it to Ravens playoff game, though. Let’s hope for a great Sunday.

Bitter Gary showed up for the end of today’s WLTV.

  • jrvol

    Gary,
Your back rooms could use a little sprucing up!
QOTD – The last time I brought thunder was last night watching my 17 year old son score 24 pts in an overtime win against their rivals!! It's an unbelievable feeling of being so proud of your oldest son for succeeding. He was on the front page of today's sport section.

  • angelatcarlson

Awesome! A Chardonnay that sounds like I actually want to drink it (Denogent).
Oooh, Kermit Lynch is in Berkeley. Must scrape pennies.

QOTD: I came home last night for dinner halfway through my shift to surprise my daughter.
She was so happy! : )

  • thx! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • This episode got me excited about that first wine, went to a tasting at a wine shop last night, they had one… Or so I thought. I picked up the '05, not the '07. Crap.

    We'll see.

Yep, Mike Rowe is definitely the shit, but any job would be awesome if that was what you are into. Although,I am not suggesting that I want any of the jobs Rowe does…..I would take yours though LOL.

  • Phil G

QOTD – I surprised my girlfriend with an ice cream cake on her birthday this week, not too exciting, but still thunderous…

  • royjosephson

i first tasted st veran about 10 or 12 years ago and found it quite enjoyable. thanks for reminding me. by the way, separate glasses and brown bags should be the rule not the exception.

  • aaroncello

Rather, performing Kodaly from memory in my cello class recently. I humbly suggest that the thunder was brought.

  • philoxera

QOTD: No better thunder…I did somebody a big favour today and they said thanks. Gets me every time.

Had a 2005 Chateau de Beauregard, St Vรฉran a while ago….some good value white Burgundy in this region.

  • zrm

Never had a white burgundy. If i wasn't snowed in here in VA i would go find one.

QOD: Brought the thunder doing some grad HW this week.

  • mikek

Thanks DF… this is why life’s too short to drink bad wine! We celebrate life … every day! mike

  • bfr1028

Stop sealing all our snow from up here!!!

  • zrm

    Keith,
You can have it back man. I don't want it! Only benefit is my class that a taught today was canceled. I am not used to snow I was from the way south before moving to VA

It just keeps coming and coming. But last night I went to the Grocery Store and stocked up on the essentials, Milk, frozen food, and Wine.

  • bfr1028

We have been lacking in snow this year.. 1 storm of 2 feet and not too much else here in CT. Why does everyone stock up on milk and bread when it snows? Do we eat that much more in bad weather?

    Keith

  • Who cares about the Colts vs Saints? I moved to Indy for the first season after Bob Irsey snuck the team out of Baltimore in 1984. They SUCKED for the majority of my time in Indy (without Manning), and never have shaken off the stigma of that dirty deal…even with the Super Bowl rings. Maybe a second superbowl win and Indy will “own” the Colts, finally.

Everyone now seems to have forgotten that New Orleans Saints owner John Mecom almost brought the Saints to Indianapolis in 1984. Then, in 1995, Mecom sold the Saints to Tom Benson for $70 million. This game could have been the Indianapolis Saints vs the Baltimore Colts. What's my point?

I had one to start with, but now lost it.

So, new point-don't you wish the Jets were in the sub $100 million range? Ahhh…the 80's rocked!

  • bfr1028

I wonder if Mott shovels the parking lot and sidewalks at the library??

  • philoxera, it everyone did just that, just one big favor a day, think of the THUNDER we'd create.

I commend you on your act of kindness.

  • Anonymous

    Semper Fi to that

  • If there was a dislike button on here you would have just gotten it. Mott you rock!!

  • Gary, Its great to get that insiders look at Wine Library.

The blackboard comment has to go. You're not only a Jets fan, you are a football fan. Who care? @Dominus and I care about the Colts!! God Horse

I don't know about the last time I brought the thunder, but the COLTS are going to bring the Thunder to Miami this Sunday. Tropical Storm Manning is going to overtake Miami dropping some “hail” mary's with surprisingly no Breese!!!

  • JayZee13

Nice! Both of the Saint-Veran wines sounded superb, although clearly the first one rocked your face off. And for me, under $25 is a bargain. Thanks!

QOTD: I rocked the house in my negotiations today! Sounds boring to most, but I was pumped.

  • Thanks, I’ll remember that.

  • Anonymous

Thanks for the advice, But I actually like vinegar, it’s awesome on Spinach…anyway, I did drink the petite sirah and I also tried a pinot noir, it is growing on me. It was a curiousity………

  • Kurt M.

QOTD: I am president of my Toastmaster's club, and our entire theme this year is “Bring the Thunder!” Got to bring the thunder to do public speaking!

  • plcb

QOTD: I kicked butt making wine suggestions today at the store where I work. With a pending snow storm and a Super Bowl weekend, the store was as busy as Thanksgiving-Christmas time. Customers were buying my suggestions like never before. It was like the 'day before Thanksgiving shoppers' were back. Thanks customers for listening to me. You'll be happy you did.

  • plcb

All of the employees at the PA Wine & Spirits shops are responsible for shoveling and salting around the store. Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow.

  • A dumb Rhein king

Love the idea of linking up the other episodes!

Haha. You must have an interesting inventory system … LKR1B004 (Left of the Kitchen Row 1 Box 4), BIR3B006 (Behind Ian Row 3 Box 6), … ๐Ÿ™‚

QOTD: Just catching up on WLTV because this last week, we totally crushed it at work bringing in a huge client. I got to help with the tip of the iceberg, but now someone else is to take my place and I am going onto another huge project.

  • jeffisrad

    Here's how I bring the TUNDER, Gary…

I'm a teacher. I will often save up any big projects or labs for Thursdays. In my classroom, we call them “Thundercat Thursdays”. After I introduce what we are doing on those days, I will shout out to my class, “Thundercats…”
To which they will always reply, “Hoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” before getting their butts to work.

    How's that for Thunder?

  • laura_d

I totally get the white eraser, Gumby.
QOTD (<–stole this from another viewer cause it's a great idea): time with my husband

  • Weston3220

Im not a chardonnay fan per se but I had a macon at WSET class and it was fantastic, and it even had oak on it and I liked it

    qotd:

  • YoungDave

Yes! St Veran! I have both a St Veran white and red in my wine fridge at home that have brought the thunder for the money in the past- great region for value to explore, and therefore a fantastic episode theme.

QOTD: I had an improv show on Thursday that had a packed house, including a couple of friends of mine in the audience that work for E!, and we had a GREAT performance. Thunderlicious.

  • Don Simpson

    AGREED!

QOTD I figured out how to install Solar electric systems for free in PSE&G electric territory in New Jersey

  • Don Simpson

Gary — I missed your Today Show appearance is MOTT going to put the video online? I’d like to see it. Thanks!

  • JiminAtlanta

I like chardonnay when it is done well. Many times it is too boring. It sounds like I need to try St. Veran. I brought a little thunder this week when I surprised a friend with a bottle of her favorite Chateuaneuf du Pape.

  • I brewed my own beer for the first time and the thunder was so loud it broke every window in my house

  • Don Simpson

YES!!!!!! St Veran was a BEAST today. Good for you sticking to your guns with the 94+ point score. I haven't been giving chardonnay its fair shot (although I had a really good Tressalier/Chard recently). Where can I find the Denoent for 28 bones?

QOTD: The snowstorm in DC is bringing the Thunder!!! Amazing. I brought the Thunder last night when I put 2 wine bottles in my ski jacket (2008 Santorini and 2007 Vacqueras) and snuck into a bar in Arlington to watch the caps game, en route to a buddy's house to drink the wine (Santorini = 89+ pts; Vacqueras = 91 pts) Ode to Columbia ski jacket for facilitating the THUNDER!
