lines of the day – ‘sniffy sniff some flowers…they show up in a lot of wines’ and ‘I haven’t really put my balls on the line for a varietal in the 5 years I’ve been doing the show’

Classic episode, GV in top form and loving the wines

wow, that is on par with the level of crazy i saw at opening night for the movie with people in their bathrobes and towels … hope she was smokin hot

  • Oakmon’s BF

Not very hot, but since she was dating my friend this wasn?t an issue (with me). They met online where she used the Trillian identity. She liked to perpetuate this identity in person. She was very weird but interesting to talk to. She was very intelligent and rational to the point of not doing or saying anything spontaneous. Her rationale was sometimes obscure and abstract and often let to conclusions void of common sense.

In case anyone in NNJ is interested, Garys Wine in Bernardsville has some of the Produttori Barbaresco 2005, and WineAnthology in Clark (right off Exit 135 Parkway) has some of the Abrigo 2004

  • purplegrillz

Dude had vacation not long ago and should let people know when no shows for a week are going to happen, he just won’t give up the traffic to the sight and that is bush league huckster type behavior.

  • Veggiewala

    the morton’s salt girl!

  • Juliepetillo

Maybe he wanted to go out on a high note.

  • Gary you were hyped on this episode especially the last wine and I LIKE IT keep it up!

  • passion4wine

humm… so the world revolves around you … nice. GV works non-stop and has a family… I they deserve some of his time. I’m sure you can find something else to do to entertain yourself for one whole week?!

  • Agreed, French Malbec would be a good show.

This is for episode 848, I’m watching on iTunes…

Giants. They have a chance at getting into the play offs and the weren’t supposed to. I know you love football but I haven’t really gotten into it. BUT I may move to Detroit so maybe I will?

I think you might like to try the Dry Creak/ Alexander Valley part of California wines. Limerick lanes, Field stone, and Collier Falls are big favorites.

    Love the show, GOOD health!

    Hello.
    Hello.
    Are you there?

GV, FYI: The Smarties you referred to exist only with that name in North America. In Europe and other parts of the world, Smarties are the equivalent of what’s known as M&M’s in the states.

While try to get my hands on an Alicante Bouschet to expand my wine palette, which has so far proved impossible to get in PA, I just happened to stumble upon Produttori del Barbaresco Asili Reserva 2005 ($56.99).. I recognized the label from the Vaynerchuk hidden rave to Mott. Good wine, my first time experience with Barbaresco, might even buy again. But today I’m tasting Chateau Couhins-Lurton 2005 ($39.99). Even better. You have to love Bordeaux, the best of wines hands down.

  • NY Pete

    will u stop apologizing already!

I see on facebook that Gary now has a radio show on Sirius Radio on Thursday evenings.

  • MTmax

when…when…when will the italophiles get a show dedicated to TAURASI?!?!? multiple barbaresco shows, multiple barolo shows, multiple sangiovese (vino nobile, brunello, chianti) shows and not one for taurasi? maybe you could throw in a piedrosso in there as well. campania is such an underrated area…the romans grew wine there for a reason!

  • TheSmirkingLurker

Bought some of the Abrigo from Wine Anthology, was too late on the Produttori Rabaja–all sold out. There is an entry-level Produttori Barbaresco for 23.99 at WL and WA. Haven’t tried it, but if GV enjoyed the Rabaja so much, maybe the low-end wine is almost as enjoyable. You must order online to get the lower-internet pricing at Wine Anthology, unlike at Wine Lib, “the Wine Shop of Choice”. 🙂

  • RLAGS

Picked up a case of Abrigo at Wine Anthology yesterday afternoon. They may have one case left. Just tell them you saw it on the Internet and they will honor those prices

Apology accepted, I have faith you will bring the thunder back, congrats on locking up Mangold.

  • purplegrillz

I certainly don’t have time to troll prnewswire.com, but thanks for your advice.

My beef is not with him taking time off. My problem is clear in my comment that it was unannounced. Anybody with a job knows that a “no-call, no-show” gets you fired. Its just about being a professional. And this is his job, I would never drive an hour to buy wine but I do because I want to support him and his business because I am grateful for the education and entertainment he provides.

  • Allan

“She took all of my money
    and my best friend
