Interesting reaction to the CDP. The Aussie wine you could probably say is really an Aussie wine made for export to the US – high Parker score, high price, and limited availability in Australia – the kind of wine made in Australia, but created by the USA.
QOTD1: It was the Australian Rules football grand final replay after a draw the week before (3rd time only in history). I missed the game as I was away so will give you a prediction for my rugby team’s first game next week Typhoons 17 University 27.
QOTD2: Had a weekend in Taiwan so it was a lot of average beer and not a decent coffee in sight.

QOTD: Opened a Pollerhor Gruner Vetliner, a Gascony white blend and a Rosenblum Livermore Valley single vineyard Zinfandel at my Mom’s BBQ party yesterday. All yummy!
No Cuvee Papet, but I’ve managed to get hold of 15 different Cdp from 07, two bottles each and I continue to search for bargains. Can’t afford de expensive opnes just yet.

Tonight is Decoy Cabernet 2007. Good value here. Also at a party last night, someone left three us us in the garage with an open bottle of Far Niente 2006. Silly rabbit came back to an empty bottle.

Love the slutty wine comment! I’m drinking Mas Belles Eaux Les Coteaux 2005 – lots of earth, leather, berry, and some floral to me. Yummy and not bad for $18 bucks.

Very interesting show. I?ll see if I can find the Unti and the Rudderless to see how aligned our palates are. Your descriptions make it so much easier to plot your taste into perspective giving your ratings much more meaning.
QOTD2: had 2007 Aalto from Ribera DD on Friday (not the ?PS?). Was fantastic in my opinion, although the oak monster did make his presence felt.

Nice show. Had an Unti Grenache about 5 or 6 months ago. 2004. It was really good, and was shared amongst a number of things flying around at a wine bar setting, and stood up well to some good $30-50 bottles. In the over $20 range, Aussies will tend to over-do the grape, and the methods, w/ full on alc. and wood extractions. I too, have moved on, years ago. It’s good, even tolerable sometimes, but not that often – or at least, the less frequency (and matched w/ atleast cheese,bread, olives), the better.
Q – Had a locally made Amador Merlot w/ dinner Fri., and Sun. Also, while out for a brew, discovered that one of my places had Blanche de Bruges on tap! That was a high point for the weekend.
