  • 101?

  • Seconded on both counts! Had the Hana Hou Hou Shu this spring…the pink one with hibiscus too. Far out.

  • I admit nothing!!! I’ve had plenty Moscato D’Asti and they’re fantastic.

QOTD: Hungarian Tokaji and Ice Cider from Quebec.

  • Anonymous

QOTD: The sweetest I’ll go is a dry or slightly off-dry Vouvray or Gewurtraminer.

My birthday is Nov 15. Happy Birthday to you. And happy anniversary.

  • Got served a Moscato D’Asti when I rented an apartament i Florence last april. The owner served three different wines, fruit and differenta pasteries when we arrived. Really good service. The D’asti was a delight, like the second one in this show.
QOTD: Bubbles? Champange! Sweet wine Oh I like an Aussi Nobel one that is absolutely , posetively, amazing, tremendous with chocolate and salt licorice

  • YES!

  • Yes!

  • Done!

I turn 30 on Sat, so I’ll no doubt end up on the single malts (do you ever partake?), not the bubbles.

I’m spreading the word in Scotland, have a good one.

  • Sorry NYBP. I was so caught up in the sparkling that I didn’t hear the sweet.
    Bubbles in the ears.

Maybe I was thrown off by you and sweet in the same sentence. ;P

  • Moscato with ice cream? Sparkling Shiraz with French toast?

Please don’t take this the wrong way. Marry me? 😛

  • Because your sweet enough? 😉

  • But it doesn’t have bubbles. 😉

  • I really, really, really need to vacation and tour Europe with you. 😛

  • Macallan, Tallisker, Balvenie or Aberlour a’bunadh? If I am guessing correctly. Probably not. 🙂

About time Mott got his own glass! Good job GV, now lets get him his own spit bucket. Happy B’day GV, my daughter was also born on Nov 14!

  • misc617

I’ve started drinking Moscato dAsti way before it became hip. One of the favorite is Dell’acquse Moscato d’Asti.
QOTD: now that it is becoming cold and dark, I’m definitely switching more towards the reds, but of lighter kind like Pinot Noir. Cava though is one of my staples: affordable and awesome.

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Any Moscato d’Asti & I like Brilliant Disguise, made by Two Hands in Barossa. My B-Day Nov 11. Have a good one Gary.

  • BFawc

Gary you need to get Drake on the Thunder Show, that would bring the house down!

  • Anonymous

I had no idea Moscato is “ghetto”, nor would I have never predicted it happening. Kinda funny since it’s relatively feminine drink because of the easiness and if anything it’s a great value play, totally unlike Cristals and Armand de Brignacs.

QOTD: Don’t really drink that sweet stuff but I do like Recioto della Valpolicella with chocolate-y desserts. What comes to bubbles, non-dosage Champagne is right up my alley.

  • Anonymous

Mott rocks!! Gary was in fine form! Fun, like the wines!
QOTD: We tend toward Port or a sticky Chardonnay for sweet, Champagne or a Prosecco for the bubbles. Moscato for Christmas sounds wonderful, though! Mulled wine or fortified coffee/hot chocolate are always good throughout the winter, especially with a beef or lamb stew…

  • Anonymous

No, I’m more of a Lagavullin, Bruichladdich (Islay) man. Be on that once Scotland have dished out a thrashing to the All Blacks (Or at least played them).

  • ALLAN

    Sweet Sweetbacks Baadasssss Show! 😛

You say Hip Hop, i was thinking more along the lines of a blaxploitation soundtrack for this super duper ep!

Thnx for bringing The Love for Moscato from Asti. Mott’s palate is developing quite well.

Moscato D’Asti is delish, i absolutely positively agreeee!! Mind you, I sometimes find them a hair too sweet for my palate. Haven’t tried the Spinetta yet, but it sounds good.
If you don’t know, Spinetta makes world class reds. Giorgio Rivetti IS the man, still.

    Qotd: Vin Santo.

Hip Hop, don’t stop GV 🙂

  • QOTD: Prosecco and Moscato d’Asti. Love the Moscato during the hotter months.

  • Anonymous

Never had one. Will try to find one.

QOTD: Whine vino frizzante from the Veneto. In particular, Prosecco Valdizze.

By the way, I think Asti Spumanti is disgusting, but it goes SO well with gingerbread cookies! It’s an amazing pairing!

  • ALLAN

    Lagavulin is awesome!

  • Anonymous

Fascinating show Gary. However, sweet and low alcohol is not my cup of tea. But being the loyal Vaniac that I am, I will try one.

  • GermanChemist

    Hi Gary,

    I absolutely love Moscato d´Asti!
QOTD: Moscato d Asti Vigneto la Brà 2009 from A. Nada
    Take care
    Steven

  • Yay Mott!! 😉 Never had a Moscato, gonna look for the Bug Juice…

QoTD: I’m not ashamed to admit I like to nurse a glass of Gekkeikan plum wine after dinner during the holidays.

Hey GV, your B-Day is the same as my sister Cecilia!

This is b-day-week at my family, my younger sis Luiza on the 12, the middle one on the 14, and my dad Raul on the 20th. There will be a lot of celebration down here!

Mott is on stage!! Great comments!! WLTV is on the roll !!!

I wish you a great week!
    Mauricio F. from Brazil

Just a thought on recent wine Marketing activity on the big screen: In the last week I watched two great movies, ? L’immortel / 22 Bullets (2010)?, a French mafia movie, were Chateau Angelus is on every table.

And ?Letters to Juliet (2010)?, which is set in Tuscany, were Caparzo is the wine, drunk and mentioned on the film. Also a good part of the story is located on Borgo Scopeto Relais, a beautiful hotel on the property.

Wine & movie fans must watch!

  • Supertrirunner

Hahaha!!! that would increase you amount of views and broaden your viewers to a larger “non- wine geeky” crowd! I think that would be good for the wine world in general. I mean who doesnt like the idea of stella rosa drinkers moving up to something better?

  • Supertrirunner

lets jump to ep. 1001: Welcome to Wine Library TV i am your host Cris-to-pher Mott and this IS the thunder show the Internets most passionate wine show!!!

QOTD when it comes to turkey day i love Dr. Heidemanns Sekt. Pairs amaizingly well with a wide array of foods. And for my fave sweet it has to be the Ca’ Togni by Philip Togni!!!

  • gubby

You forgot to mention the Packers as one of the best teams in the NFC. Their offense is starting to click and their defense is playing quite well (if I recall correctly I believe they SHUT OUT a certain other green team on their own turf…).

QOTD: Prosecco and Canadian ice wine.

  • yury

I don’t know if anyone had suggested this before me, but it would be interesting to see Matt sharing the tasting part with you and hence observe his taste being developed.

  • Uncle_robby

I enjoy a Moscato di Asti imported by kermit Lynch by Tintero.

  • C-Lo

It’s been a long time GV, but here I am posting a comment. I’ve been slacking on watching the episodes, I’m not gonna lie. It’s fun to be back. I gotta say, my boyfriend who was at the Lions v Jets game on Sunday was not quite as happy as you are about the end result. Such is the life of a Lions fan.

QOTD: Sparkly favorite = Prosecco. Sweet favorite = Port, specifically Zinfandel Port by Consilience out of Santa Barbara.

    Keep it real.

  • Anonymous

Moscato D’asti? Of course I’ve had it! Always recommend it for the lady-friends!

    QOTD:
Sweet: Sauternes (especially with a little age)
    Bubbly: Grower Producer Champagne baby!
    Sweet & Bubbly: Sparkling Brachetto

  • ALLAN

    I WAAAANTTTSSSS MYYYY WLTVVVVVVVVVVV!!!!! :OP

  • ALLAN

The tough economic times are still “on”. Now the Hip Hop-world has turned it’s attention towards Moscato, i thought it was ONLY Cristal that mattered….. ? But what do i know. 🙂

  • Stephen

Now these losers from hip ho are drinking my kind of wine. Geez, stick w/ripple.

  • And what about during the bike portion?

  • Anonymous

Happy Birthday Gary! It just keeps getting better ; )

Gosh, how do I narrow down the bubbles and sweets?!?
OK, Solter makes an excellent Sekt, both Riesling and Spatsburger (Pinot) and I really enjoy J and Piper-Sonoma. I’m over the moon for Austrian and German Eiswein, especially if its made with Gruner Vetliner (Kracher!) or Riesling.
As a matter of fact, I’m going to a Sparklers & Stickies Tasting in a few weeks sponsored by the local chapter of the German Wine Society. Here’s the line-up:

2005 Josef Rosch Leiwener Klostergarten: Mosel Sekt
Latitude 50 N Trocken Rosé: Mosel Sekt
2006 Schloss Schönborn Erbacher Marcobrunn Goldkapsel: Rheingau Auslese (YES!)
2002 Robert Weil Kiedrich Gräfenber: Rheingau Auslese
2004 Prinz Hallgartner Jungfer: Rheingau Auslese
2005 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke: Nahe Auslese
2003 Thanisch Bernkasteler Doctor: Mosel Auslese
2005 Schaefer Graacher Domprobst: Mosel Auslese
1976 (!) Dr. Fisher Ockfener Bockstein: Mosel Auslese
1990 J.J. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr: Mosel Auslese
2007 Selbach Zeltinger Himmelreich: Mosel Eiswein : )
2007 Jost Bacharacher Hahn: Mittelrhein BA
2008 Darting Dürkheimer Fronhof: Pfalz BA
This is my holiday present to myself and it gets my husband off the hook.

    OOOOOOPPPPPPPSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! No “THUNDER” Today! 🙁

  • Anonymous

24-10? Wanna bet? I’ll take the Browns +14. Are you that confident? Anyway, nice show and, no, I’ve never had a Moscato d’Asti.

QOTD: I am not a big fan of sweet anything in wines, other than Port or an occasional Pedro Ximenez Sherry. As for bubbles, grower Champagne, baby! A nice Cava or Prosecco is fine once in awhile, but I only like them bone dry – no sweet stuff, please.

  • you like it raw and wrrrrrrigggeling 🙂

  • sure, have you started saving yet 🙂

  • Anonymous

Find most of them a little too sweet.

  • Good episode. Thank you for some new knowledge.

QoTD: Finger Lakes rieslings are coming. I seem to get into them more in the time o’ year. Looking forward to it.

  • Anonymous

I have tried to like Moscatos but most are a little too sweet for me. I love bubbles any time of the year and agree with you GV that they are under appreciated. If I am having anything sweet, I like riesling.
