Interesting. You have picked wines from a couple of obscure wineries from NC. I’ve been here off and on for 22 years and never heard of either one of them. Why not have wine from the largest vinifera winery on the east coast (Biltmore Cab franc $15)? or one from one of the most inventive vinifera wineries (Shelton Riesling $10)? Or one from one of the longest eatablished growers in the region (Westbend Seyval blanc $10)? That would have required a lttle effort though.

100 pts for generating some entertaining wine/regional snobbish put downs, 0 pts for effort.

Weak ass move on the cork crawl!!! Jordan hater – ugh! I’m a huge 80’S and 90’s bulls fan, not good. Interesting take on the NC wines. My take on this stuff is when you are traveling in the area, with family or whatever, it’s nice to pick up a bottle of this stuff and drink while your there. Kind of do as they do in NC and your able to justify the higher prices because your on vacation, blah blah blah.

Otherwise would never actually buy this stuff and add to the collection at the homestead……!

It’s all about the honesty. The worst part of giving a bad critique on something is giving the bad critique to someone who chooses not to listen. This doesn’t mean they need to change a darn thing that you hate about what you critiqued negatively; they can do whatever makes them happy to do for their own enjoyment. Criticism, if taken with an open mind, is offered as a voice that might open up opportunities otherwise missed. They are meant to provoke thought and enlightenment.

Hard to hate anyone. Let’s just say I have a lack of enthusiasm for people who don’t value freedom.

First of all, I thought the powder blue reference was referring to the SD Super Chargers. B-ball is pretty big in NC, I guess…

I did some tasting in the Yadkin while visiting my sister last summer, and I found an undertone common in all the wines I tried: dusty butteriness on the midpalate (not in a good way). One wine that stood out for me was the Shelton Chardonnay, especially since I’m an ABC kind of guy. Also, their vineyard was the best looking vineyard I saw. Did not make it to Childress, but will try to get out there next time.

Richard Childress makes some of the best wines on the east coast. He is in the southern Yadkin Valley. His pinot gris is fantastic as well.

Just playing “catch up time”. Sorry that the wines were not as exciting as the state. However, the ACC is still the best in basketball, the Canes are leading their division, and Tift Merritt just released her third CD. So not all is as bad as it seems in Carolina.

QOTD: I think you realised the Jets wernt going to win for some time and decided to change it to when the Knicks won. *cough* Copout *cough*….. *wink* Boy did SC face your wrath today, Gary. You wernt nice to Rag Apple at all. I know you have to be honest but damn… lol. At least the other wines showed some promise. You never want to see honest people put their lives into something then fail.

Great show as always…. the cabernet franc sounds tempting….Just a note though on the spreadsheet..it does not list Episode#343,#344,#345 and #346. Just curious anyway.

North Carolina is beautiful. I wonder how their ridiculously hot summers play on the wine.
