line of the day – ‘my professor of video is Chris Mott’ in reply to Jancis’ – ‘my professor of sherry is….’

Loved the show. I found the chemistry between the two really worked. It was nice to see someone totally confident in their observations no matter what Gary thought, and you could see Gary really enjoying the knowledge Jancis brought to the show. I laughed a lot during the episode, especially at Gary’s winks to the camera and his ‘Bee in my bonnet’ comments. Superb.

I’ve been saving this file for a long time until I had the forty-five minutes to devote to watchig the ep and yes, Jancis, this was a good idea. Easily, the best of the more than 700 episodes of WLTV. The back and forth between Gary and Jancis was engaging, a lot of excellent info was imparted, a love of wine was affirmed and the time flew by. Would that you could have her on annually for an update.
Every wine enthusiast should see this show. Congratulations!

  • That was a great show with two of the top personalities in the wine world. Really enjoyed the conversation about Sherry and the general wit and intelligence that came out of Gary and Jancis.

  • It was an excellent idea. Thanks, Gary.
Jancis, you are charming and passionate.
Thank you for the shout out to the $8 – $20 category of wine.
This was a very informative and enjoyable episode. Could have been a few hours longer.

It was a great idea. As a wine neophyte (regular Gary watcher now since May of this year), I did not know who Ms. Robinson was. Now I not only know who she is, I know where I can find even more opinions and information about wine (on her web site). I’m sure Ms. Robinson just harvested a whole bunch of new wine enthusiasts from this patch that has been lovingly sown and cultivated by Mr. Vaynerchuck. Kudos on the NYT piece, by the way Gary.

  • It was a great idea!! although we can read a lot from Jancis, I don’t think we get the opportunity too often to see her as casual as here. Thanks to you both, great show!!

Finally got around to viewing this episode. Gary and Jancis balance each other wonderfully, like Jacques Pepin & Julia Child. Bring her back soon, and often!
    Thanks, Jancis!

QOTD Belated: Of course it was a good idea and Jancis; anyone on your website forum who thought it was a silly idea needs to rethink their philosophies on wine and life in general – Gary – you know what I’m talking about.

  • I think this is my fav show. Seriously. A brilliant balance between pure, unbeatable knowledge from Jancis and the power of Gary. Jancis got more casual and Gary somewhat more nerdy. Really, really loved it.

This was a fantastic episode! I had never seen an interview with Jancis Robinson, and after she opened up a little, I found her to be delightful. Great show, brother!!!

QOTD – Very good idea, Jancis! Thank you for all of your insight. Come back to the Vayniak Nation when you can!

Why is this not posted in favorite episodes? This definitely deserves it.

Officially the first WLTV episode I have watched 3 times. This should be up in the favorite episodes section. I was checking out some of Jancis' 3-minute wine classes on the WSET site and was reminded of this episode and wanted to check it out again.

    QotD: YES!!

  • Alexandre-CF

this must go to favorite episodes.

Um Wow. So how is this not on the wall of fame????? I had to watch all the way to epesoide 568 to know that JR was going to rock out on WLTV? Crazy.

Yes it was a great idea. I like getting to know the personalities behind the book that I read. Thanks so much Jancis.

  • 4 times…

  • I loved this. great fun and informative too.

  • Definitely a GREAT idea for Jancis to come on the show! Loved this episode GaryVee — VERY interesting about Sherry, I jumped on Wiki to get some additional background info & will try some this week! Jancis is classy, lovely, extremely experienced, and I agree with you Gary, she’s a true wine legend! http://www.facebook.com/Wine2Three

Have had the Ridge before, not the other two. She looks great for her age.. QOTD-Very good idea. almost 1000 comments…

  • Great to have you on the show, Jancis. Interesting banter about sherry, Draper, Greece, etc. Would have loved to hear another hour or so, particularly if someone pulled the spit bucket…

I can’t believe I somehow missed this show the first time around, but I am glad to have finally tracked it down.

Who is going to be the 1000th commenter?

QOTD: I think it was a good idea to immerse yourself in Gary’s idiosyncratic world for 45 minutes. Sometime you have to get out of your comfort zone and embrace madness, especially if it is a madness of the personable kind.
